First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], which produces: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper

Commons solo, admite contenido compatible con la licencia GPL por tanto cualquier contenido con copyright no puede estar en commons. La licencia que has utilizado es incorrecta ya que no eres el dueño de los derechos de la imagen, sino que lo es "Twentieth Century Fox Corp.". Te aconsejo que leas Commons:Primeros pasos y consulktes tus dudas en el Café de Commons.

Bien, este tipo de imágenes NUNCA podrán estar en commons y serán borradas en un pequeño periodo de tiempo. Las únicas imágenes que se admiten son aquellas con licencias libres o de tu propia creación. En la wikipedia en inglés es distinto porque además de las imágenes de commons se pueden utilizar imágenes que en commons no tienen cabida. Esto se debe a que sus políticas son distintas a las de wikipedia en español y permiten es uso de imágenes agarrándose a leyes estadounidenses sobre es:fair use (Uso legítimo). Estas leyes permiten el uso de imágenes con copyright siempre que no tengan alta calidad, se especifique la fuente, etc. El fair use no es aceptable en Commons y tampoco en Wikipedia en español (al parecer porque esas leyes no existen en casi ninguno de los países de habla hispana). Por tanto no hay ninguna forma de ilustrar artículos con imágenes que tengan copyright en Wikipedia en español. La única forma sería cambiar la políticas y estoy bastante seguro de que no es algo que vaya a suceder de momento. No te preocupes por el error que a mi me pasó lo mismo al principio y tarde hasta que entendí el asunto. Por otro lado hay algunas imágenes que por sus características pueden valer para ilustrar artículos en wikipedia en español y pueden estar en commons ya lo irás viendo con el tiempo. --LordT 10:26, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Efectivamente, subí yo la imágen, para documentar un artículo que se estaba preparando, y para zanjar las discusiones que había sobre la creación o no de un artículo en la wikipedia sobre esta mujer. Independientemente de lo bien o mal que nos caiga, es innegable que es un personaje con la suficiente trascendencia y cobertura informativa como para tener un artículo en la enciclopedia española, como cualquier otros que ya existen en la misma.

El artículo que preparábamos (Chuck_es_dios, y Kokoo), era mucho más neutral, y menos amarillista, a la par que más sintético y enciclopédico (parte de la discusión de su preparación, está aquí). Ahora, debido a mi retiro temporal, estoy muy alejado de esas discusiones... y no sé cémo están las cosas.

Hi Vera. I just see your message and i'm give you thank for the warning about the deletion request about one of my files, although i don't understand why the picture could be delete. Also i see several images connected with the Alien's saga, but in my point of view, those files could be useful for some Wikipedia with "non-fair use" politics. --Ravave (talk) 16:31, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
