File:CICCIO.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

I own the photo because it is my photo of myself! Please put it back 2603:7000:A341:CEE6:C4B8:CB5:8D5D:691C 15:08, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your uploads[edit]

Please stop your uploads until such time as you understand that you can't just take an image you find somewhere on the Internet, claim it is yours and upload it here. All of your uploads so far have been blatant copyright violations and are not acceptable here. If you persist in this behavior, you may be blocked from editing. Please stop. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:10, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that, but since I am the owner and the photo is my photo of myself with my face, I am entitled to post it. I am the subject in the photo, Dr. Alvaro. Please, can you put it back? 2603:7000:A341:CEE6:C4B8:CB5:8D5D:691C 15:10, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A photo of you with your face doesn't automatically make it that you own the copyrights. Who is the photographer? --Hammersoft (talk) 23:36, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That photo was taken by my wife. What more do you need to know to understand that the photo is mine and I own it? Do you want me to say "photo taken by my wife?" Philosophymaybe (talk) 04:41, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am getting the feeling you are frustrated. I am sorry, I am not trying to frustrate you. Copyright is a complicated subject, and is taken very seriously here. As such, questions get raised when we find images are taken from websites apparently without permission, as was the case with two of your uploads. In this case, your are making the claim that this is your photo because your wife took it. There's a number of problems with that. First, we'd have to assume that you are who you say you are. We don't assume this because there have been many (and I do mean many) attempts in the history of Commons and Wikipedia where people have attempted to impersonate someone. Second, we'd have to assume that your wife has turned over copyright of the image to you. We have no proof of that. Understand; you didn't take the photo. Copyright rests with the person who took the photo, not with the person who is the subject of the photo. Thus, the photo isn't "yours". Copyrights to it belong to your wife. You do not hold rights to the image and can't release such rights. Only your wife can. There's instructions on how to handle this at Commons:Volunteer_Response_Team#If_you_are_NOT_the_copyright_holder. Yes, I know that seems insanely bureaucratic. I'm not meaning to throw obstacles in front of you. Put yourself in the reverse position for a moment; imagine if someone claiming to be you uploaded a book you authored and irrevocably release rights to the book under a Creative Commons license. If we took that at face value, your work would be compromised in its ability to be sold. Would you like that? I think not. That's why we have to do this. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:27, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I totally understand and am sorry if I sound frustrated. But this is what I needed--and explanation. You must understand that I do not do Wikipedia for a living and so all this is confusing to me. I was just trying to improve the page that someone else has created. At any rate, I followed the procedure and emailed my permission request. I hope this will clear out the confusion and keep the picture where it belongs. Philosophymaybe (talk) 15:52, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
