Thanks for uploading File:Saxophone with color musicbackground.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Category discussion warning

Outline SVG icons has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Incnis Mrsi (talk) 17:49, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You may experience a discomfort writing in English, but you certainly are good reading English. Please, explain you intentions in Commons:Categories for discussion/2018/01/Category:Outline SVG icons in any language you are good with. With your current attitude (namely, to ignore warnings and proceed with your changes after some week) you are testing bounds of the community’s patience. Note also this revision of your talk. Templating File: pages[edit]

Thanks for attracting my attention (yes, I stalk you) to File:Venn3.svg where original clueless SVG was overwritten in 2010 by an unrelated user. I supplied this peculiar case with two {{information}} templates.

One critical remark – don’t add templates to a page’s trail. Moreover, don’t add anything visible except license tags to the == Licensing == section. All descriptive information of a media should go to == Summary == (preferably to the {{Information}} template which also admits other_fields= parameter).

In general, you should read documentation of templates you are using, but in the {{Created with Text Editor}} case no instructions for placements were provided. Better to make

{{Information
………
|other_fields = {{Created with Text Editor}}
}}

Incnis Mrsi (talk) 20:45, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the hint. I have read much template documentation, but honestly, they are often hard for me to understand.
I see now that I am documenting my uploaded files incorrectly, sorry for that, I did not add the {{HandSVG}} in the description section.
In my private Wikis I use a template documentation based on the template documentation in the English & German Wikipedia and Commons. I made it less complex which may not be applicable in a complex Wiki like Commons, if the community is interested I can provide it. I already wrote a userpage about that, in German. Pd4u (talk) 21:15, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

-- sarang사랑 12:54, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

-- sarang사랑 21:37, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
--- sarang사랑 08:47, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Symmetry categories[edit]

Chiral
Dihedral

Thanks for your participation. Do you know that there are such categories as 6-fold dihedral symmetry and 8-fold dihedral symmetry ? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 15:40, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I do but I am not quite sure what the difference of 5-fold rotational symmetry and 5-fold dihedral symmetry is. A short description in every category (in different languages) would be very helpful for me, I think my language issue is greater than I expected Pd4u (talk) 16:01, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
They both are 5-fold symmetric, but mirror-invariant images have dihedral symmetry, whereas orientation-sensitive are chiral. The opposition between chiral and dihedrally symmetric images was more pronounced before Watchduck ruined Chiral images with rotational symmetry without any vestige of due process. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 16:37, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Leo doesn't help me out with this, google says that spiegelsymmetrisch is mirror-symmetrical, not dihedral. What do you suggest? Pd4u (talk) 17:15, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Could you follow the link I provided and decipher a plain English discussion? Again, such rotationally symmetric images that also have a mirror symmetry axis (passing through the centre of rotation) are dihedrally symmetric. Chiral images (two-dimensional) can’t have a mirror symmetry axis – that’s the difference. BTW, why did you change the mind about File:20Smooth-star-drawing nevit 134.svg? Incnis Mrsi (talk) 22:09, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I realized too late that the category twenty-pointed stars is a subcategory of 20-fold rotational symmetry. Thanks for the explanation, I do not have time just now, I will write more later. Pd4u (talk) 05:41, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Affected:

Yours sincerely, Stang 15:48, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously? This discussion needs many more bytes than the size of the file. Do you want to delete all files on commons which are not used? Good luck with that... --Pd4u (talk) 23:47, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that this category has been moved to Category:Animated SVG files so you'll probably want to update the statistics on your userpage to match. 140.177.205.223 20:21, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the info, I did not expect anyone to read my userpage ;-) --Pd4u (talk) 06:59, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
