I think there was need to put this comment, since Jameslwoodward deleted the page some days ago and then he recommended I should put it. But now it's obsolete. Hans Urian (talk) 08:51, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

@Hans Urian: Hello, please put your comment on its talk page instead. Thanks, Poké95 08:55, 10 July 2016 (UTC)
Hello, you are right, I didn't think of it. Thanks. Hans Urian (talk) 09:20, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

BomDiaJapão all images

What is your problem with the images they have the right license so what is the problem ??????????????????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BomDiaJapão (talk • contribs) 11:51, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

@BomDiaJapão: Hello, I doubt that the images are your own work, especially the logos that surpasses COM:TOO. To prove that you are the copyright holder of the images, please see OTRS. Just because you placed the right license on the images, it means it is now your own work. No. See COM:L too. Thanks, Poké95 11:54, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
@BomDiaJapão: And for images that you provided a source to another website, please ask the website of their images to release their images under a free license like CC-BY-SA-4.0 and send an email to the OTRS. And don't revert please while we are in a discussion. Thanks, Poké95 11:57, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

First I put the right license and you reverted and next who is we why my images you want the right license ok hust don't delete the images. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BomDiaJapão (talk • contribs) 12:03, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

@BomDiaJapão: No matter how many "right" licenses you put, they are still not valid because you are not the copyright holder/author/photographer. If you are the copyright holder/author/photographer, then prove it by sending an email to the OTRS. And stop reverting while we are discussing. Consider this as a final warning. Thanks, Poké95 12:07, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
@BomDiaJapão: Seriously, File:Yankii Nichokenju.jpg is not a logo, so {{PD-textlogo}} obviously don't apply. Poké95 12:13, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

What the fuck is your problem with my images I put the right license but you just keep reverting just stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop!!!!!!!!!! What is your fucking problem again!!! Actually where are you from??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BomDiaJapão (talk • contribs) 12:21, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

@BomDiaJapão: I don't have a problem; you have a problem. The problem with you is that you refused to understand what I am saying. And your profane words won't work on me; they are just unnecessary and nonsense. Poké95 12:24, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

what is the problem with my images how can I put the right license???? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BomDiaJapão (talk • contribs) 12:27, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

@BomDiaJapão: The problem with your images that they are not your own work. No matter how many "right" licenses you place, it is still not your own work. If you are the copyright holder, prove it through OTRS. And before applying {{PD-textlogo}}, please see if the logo is simple enough to be copyrighted. See COM:TOO. Thanks, Poké95 12:31, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

what do you want are links???? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BomDiaJapão (talk • contribs) 12:36, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

@BomDiaJapão: I didn't asked you for links, I asked you to send an email to the OTRS, to prove that you are the copyright holder/author/photographer of the images. Poké95 12:41, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

I already send the email to the OTRS what do I have to do now?????????? — Preceding unsigned comment added by BomDiaJapão (talk • contribs) 13:20, 11 July 2016 (UTC)

@BomDiaJapão: Then wait for a response from an OTRS volunteer. It may take weeks, or even months. Poké95 05:42, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

CommonsDelinker

I'm not familiar with what the CommonsDelinker does with its sysop rights and it seems odd that it has 0 relevant actions logged. Which actions does it make that require sysop rights? Thanks -- (talk) 12:54, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

@: CommonsDelinker needs sysop rights to edit a fully protected page, COM:CDC, which has been fully protected to prevent non-admins from making abusive file and category replaces. Poké95 12:56, 13 October 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, it makes for an interesting exception. -- (talk) 13:06, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Rename request follow up

Hi Pokéfan95,

Many thanks for your response to my question here. But, while I tried to figure out how to use {{Rename}}, as you suggested, I failed miserably. I uploaded 3 images and thought I named them like their descriptions. Instead, the descriptions are separate, but the names are all the same, but numbered.

Here are the 3 images:

If it's asking too much to request this here, rather than a forum, please forgive me. I'd be happy to do it at a forum myself, but for some reason, my brain's synapses just aren't firing properly to understand where/how! But if you'd be good enough to please walk me through a basic "Rename requests for Dummies" primer, that would be an enormous help. For now and in the future. Many, many thanks, again. Cheers! X4n6 (talk) 03:44, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

@X4n6: ✓ Done. To make a rename request for a file without using wikicode, see Help:RenameLink. Thanks, Poké95 05:01, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Awesome! I can't thank you enough! But, many, many thanks indeed! (So sorry to have bothered you, though.) But thanks again and all the best! X4n6 (talk) 09:46, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Walang ano man. (You're welcome.) Poké95 09:52, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Oh goodness! At the risk of bothering you one last time... I tried to create a new category for the three photos under Category:Musical theatre actors, but although the name should have appeared under the letter "M" for the subject's last name, for some reason it was filed under "N" for the first name. I don't even know how I managed to mess that up! Would you mind taking a look, please? And I promise to make that my last request! :) Many thanks, again! X4n6 (talk) 10:37, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
@X4n6: ✓ Done. No need to worry, you may make more requests, there's no limit. But don't expect me that I would solve every request fast, I am not available sometimes... Poké95 10:44, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Thank you so much again! I really appreciate your willingness to help. But I do need to learn how to do these things myself. As I certainly don't want to become a bother to you! I think I just need to read a tutorial - especially if I intend to be around more often. But once again, many, many thanks! You're the best! Cheers! Maraming salamat! Congratulations, Dear license reviewer

If you use the helper scripts, you will find the links next to the search box (vector) or as single tabs (monobook). They are named license+ and license-.

Hi Pokéfan95, thanks for your request for license reviewer status. The request has been closed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can now start reviewing files – please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Potential backlogs include Flickr review, Picasa review, Panoramio review, and files from other sources. You can use one of the following scripts by adding one of the lines to your common.js:

importScript('User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js'); // stable script for reviewing images from any kind of source OR
importScript('User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js'); // contains also user notification when review fails, auto blacklist-check and auto-thank you message for Flickr-reviews.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons webchat on irc.freenode.net. You can also add {{User license reviewer}} to your user page if you wish. Thank you for your contributions on Commons!

Hi

I'm sorry but I'm really new to this. Can you guide me how to do this? I need my pictures to be restored. --Piconnie (talk) 07:38, 23 October 2016 (UTC)Piconnie

Update:

Just sent an email out to OTRS. Ticket#2016102310003584

Now can you restore my photographs? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Piconnie (talk • contribs) 07:46, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

@Piconnie: I am not an admin nor an OTRS volunteer, so I can't restore your files. This will be dealt by an OTRS volunteer and an admin, and this may take days or weeks to verify your email (so please be patient ). We are sorry for the inconvenience, but we are doing this to protect your copyright and Commons. Thanks, Poké95 07:50, 23 October 2016 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! Appreciate your help. This is kinda fun :) --Piconnie (talk) 07:53, 23 October 2016 (UTC)Piconnie

"No source"

Hi Pokefan, I don't really think you know what a source is. A source describes the origin of a picture. Who and when. A contemporary blog with no author information is not a source. Therefore, increasing the burden of bureaucracy by turning a source information request into a deletion request on unknown grounds is definitely something that shouldn't be done. Best regards and thank you for your understanding --Discasto talk 19:47, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

@Discasto: (This is Pokéfan95, just in a public computer) Hello, when you doubt that the source on the file is appropriate for the file, please use DR instead of {{subst:nsd}}. Using only "no source" in a file with a source might make the uploader think "doesn't that user see that there is a source there". Using a DR would give you a chance explaining why the source is not sufficient. And this will give the uploader the chance to explain why the source is sufficient (yes, there is their talk page, but a centralized and public discussion is more appropriate for this, which is a deletion request). When I am now at home, I will be converting all your nsds to DRs. Thanks, Cyndaquil95 04:50, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
As said, I don't think you don't have the slightest idea of what a source is or even the text of the templates. For your information: {{No source}} clearly states that the file lacks essential source information. It even provides a link (Commons:Essential_information#Source), that you've possible never read, stating that In order to make sure that the claimed copyright status is accurate, the file description page needs to mention not only who generated the file/image.... Now, as you've turned your misinformed opinion into a Commons policy, you've created dozens of deletion requests (at least you could have created a mass deletion request) that someone will have to manually delete. It would be good you understand Commons policies before performing such a massive set of useless actions. Alas... --Discasto talk 17:36, 3 November 2016 (UTC)
Hello, I'm here on behalf of this request. In my opinion, tagging images massively with "no source" is as useless as to open DRs if the uploader isn't informed clearly why his/her images are in doubt. Pokéfan, if you think DRs are needed (a collective one, not individuals), a I converted the "no source" tag to a DR because there is a source present. "No source" should not be used when a user doubts that the existing source is appropriate it's an invalid reason for the uploader, it should have been explained directly to @Discasto: providing a valid reason for the deletion to inform the uploader and adninistrators. But anyway, considering the broad variety of historical images, some old enough to be PD-old (read the first source given), some dubious and some others a clear copyvio (again according to the source given) this should be a case of file by file checking, not a massive tagging, neither with no source nor DR. Anna (Cookie) (talk) 02:13, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
Well, I massively converted the nsd tags to DRs because I saw a related situation of this recently (and it has been resolved now). It was an admin (Jcb) massively tagging old files (those that were uploaded before 2010) as "no source". Some were correct, some were also wrong. Some of the wrong tags were converted to DRs, and they have a source. The admin tagged those because he thought that those sources are insufficient for the files. Then two non-admins ( and Piotrus) converted the nsds to DRs believing that when a source is doubted to be appropriate for the file, a DR should be filed instead of a nsd. Most of the users (including me) that a DR should be used instead of nsd tags for those kind of files, because first, it would be easier to explain why the source is wrong/inappropriate and easier to find the correct source (through discussion by not only between the one who tagged and the uploader but also with established third party users). Second, if the uploader is not active on Commons, then a DR would be more appropriate because it would be easy for other users to find files without a source. It is useless to ask an inactive user for the correct source and would just end up to deletion. Seeing Vvven's contributions (last contribution was on 11 October), they are not always active here, so a DR for their files is more appropriate than using nsd tags.
But yes, massively creating DRs is pointless and a bit disruptive. I should have created a massive deletion request instead and used VFC to replace the nsd tag with my massive DR. This will be a lesson learn for me. Thanks to both of you, Poké95 07:42, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

Q - revdel

Aloha! I don't mind being asked. I am just a servant, not a god. Well, how do it put it? The edit wasn't not a super heavy duty one. The problem I saw was the combination of the edit and where it occurred. In addition, from my +10 years on wp -projects, there's about a 0% chance that the user will ever come up with something useful. Therefore I blocked indef. Does that answer your q? C(_) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 12:22, 5 November 2016 (UTC)

Ah, I get it. Thanks! Poké95 12:25, 5 November 2016 (UTC)
I agree with User:Hedwig in Washington. The best thing that such user can learn from this indef block is, that vandalism is observed and taken serious. If he learns from that, he can still create a new account and start to contribute in a useful way from scratch. --CEphoto, Uwe Aranas (talk) 11:08, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
@Cccefalon: I don't agree with you with the "If he learns from that, he can still create a new account and start to contribute in a useful way from scratch.", since Hedwig blocked the account with account creation blocked, so it would be impossible for that user to create a new account, atleast in their own IP. Moreover, even though if they switch to another IP to create another account, they would be violating policy since they are evading their block. They should request an unblock instead on their own talk page to be unblocked. Thanks, Poké95 12:03, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
Yes, that is the theory. However, as the user obviously is sticking to mobile log-in and as we hardly can expect that he knows that an unblock procedure exists, my proposal might be the de facto practice. But anyway, thank you for your concern. Kind regards, --CEphoto, Uwe Aranas (talk) 12:06, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
I saw an unblock procedure when I was blocked before, but I don't know whether that would be seen too in the mobile version (I don't use mobile, even in my iPad). Probably they would see it in mobile I guess. Anyway, you're welcome. Poké95 12:15, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your fast reply! Deleted, warning left. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 03:34, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
Um, what? It is not vandalism, it has an educational value. The inappropriate words I said is those on the board. That's why I am wondering why you asked me about that... Poké95 05:13, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
The image has an educational value because it is a picture of a scrabble board. This would be a good example of the Filipino scrabble. Please undelete the file. Thanks, Poké95 05:17, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
Argh, so the words are appropriate? Confused. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 05:23, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
The words are inappropriate (in the second thought, I think yosi is not that inappropriate, so only tae is the inappropriate word), but the board is not vandalism. Well, if a picture depicting an inappropriate word will be speedy deleted as vandalism, I wonder on other images... Thanks, Poké95 05:27, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
That got lost in translation. I restored the image of course. Thanks for your help!! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 05:35, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Can you explain why your BulbaBot not only removes UploadWizard's category (fine by me), but has changed my cc-by-sa-4.0 license to PD-self ? See here. My files are not public domain. I have copied this to the 'Commons:Bots/Requests/BulbaBot 5' talk page. Thanks. Acabashi (talk) 13:57, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

Uh oh, this is my mistake. I haven't filtered properly the ones my bot should edit. Feel free to revert them, as the changing of the cc-by-sa-4.0 license to PD-self is only meant for Judgefloro's files. Thanks, Poké95 02:09, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
Fortunately, there were only a small number of files affected. I rollbacked those edits (which would reinsert the UW category, so please remove them by your own). If you found more files which license is changed to PD-self mistakenly, please revert them. Thanks, Poké95 02:23, 13 November 2016 (UTC)

Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign for User:The Photographer

Please excuse me spamming you, which concerns Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign. My contributions cover the architecture and culture of Brazil and Venezuela. I has basic photographic equipment: an old D300 camera and 35mm lens, and it is very expensive for me to acquire this equipment. I has recently taken several images using the technique where multiple frames are stitched together to create a high-resolution panorama. However, many times frustrated with the stitching errors that result from trying to take such photos without a proper panoramic head for his tripod. This special equipment permits the camera to be rotated around the entrance pupil of the lens, and eliminates such errors. Having a panoramic head would greatly increase the potential for The Photographer to create sharp high-resolution images for Commons. In addition, the purchase of a camera with a fisheye lens would enable 180 × 360° panoramas to be taken, which are a great way to explore a scene as though one is really there.

Please see the discussion about the Crowd-funding campaign on User talk:The Photographer#Generosity Crowdfunding Campaign and visit the Generosity Crowd-funding Campaign page to consider donating. Even a modest donation will make a difference if many people contribute. Thanks. --The Photographer 14:02, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

Hi The Photographer, I feel you, and that having that kind of equipment you stated is expensive. However, I can't donate for reasons I can't say. Anyway, I hope you would get the equipment you have been long wanted one day. Thanks, Poké95 11:01, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
No problem, thanks for your feedback, take care by yourself --The Photographer 11:19, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

@Andresc30: (No entiendo español, por eso estoy respondiendo en inglés, lo siento por eso) Hi, those images are deleted because there were enough doubt that the Flickr user is not the copyright holder of the images. Please see COM:PRP, which is a policy. I doubted those images you mentioned since they are very small, and they don't have EXIF data. Furthermore, they can be found on other sites via Google Images search. That's why even though they are "licensed" under an acceptable license, they are suspected copyright violation because of the doubts I stated above. I think Commons:License laundering would help you. Please be careful in uploading pictures from Flickr next time, now your block has now expired. Thanks and happy uploading. Poké95 00:19, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

@Andresc30: I think I have no doubts on that image, since it has EXIF data and it was taken on 2008. Most of the sites showing that image are just published in 2016, and those sites seems to violate penner (the copyright holder/photographer of the image)'s copyright. Thanks, Poké95 09:35, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

Gracias a tí, y qué tal ésta, ésta y ésta otra, pregunto para no volver a ser bloqueado.Andresc30 (talk) 20:06, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

@Andresc30: Apologies for the late reply. For the first image, no, because there is no EXIF data present and the Flickr user only uploaded 11 photos since 2011 and has no followers (COM:PRP). For the second image, still no, not because of COM:PRP, but because of COM:DW. The painting which is copyrighted and non-free makes the whole image non-free, rendering the CC-BY-2.0 license useless on this photo. For the third image, I am not sure, since it is an old photo. Better to contact the Flickr user first before uploading. Thanks, Poké95 12:09, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

So basically these should be moved back to the old name as the current name is controversial so basically they shouldn't need dicussion to be moved back - They would only need discussion if again they're move from for instance Category:Virginia road signs to Category:State Route Signs of Virginia if that makes sense,
Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 18:07, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

Oh, I think I misread that, I moved them back. Thanks, Poké95 09:32, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

Could you comment this vs. this, please? AFAIK, if a photo is (C) watermarked by somebody else than Wikimedia username, we should always require a written permission. Declaration on user page cannot be consider a valid permission nor an identity proof. Ankry (talk) 21:45, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

You may file a DR for that file if you want, I don't object to the deletion. Thanks, Poké95 10:38, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

I realize the RfA is not proceeding well, but if you like I do want to discuss adminship and administration on commons in general with you regardless of what is discussed there. For me this is primarily related to the events that transpired last week. If you wish not to engage in this discussion I can totally understand. -- とある白い猫 ちぃ? 01:19, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

Sorry it didn't work out. I am happy to see that you aren't disheartened by the RfA. RfA's can be very rough unfortunately. -- とある白い猫 ちぃ? 22:06, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

Hi sir, thanks for being in the discussion on my nomination for a license reviewer. Unfortunately it hasn't been granted to to lack of consensus for promotion. Hope from this I make myself more better than now. A few days after my request for autopatroller It has been granted to me by an admin. Hope I continue my work and again get consensus for license reviewer. --✝iѵɛɳ२२४०†ลℓк †๏ мэ 11:38, 18 March 2017 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletion

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
