Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

London Bridge[edit]

Re [1] - I assumed it was the through platforms at London Bridge, which is what the coordinates suggest. But I admit I haven't been there for years, so I may be mistaken. O Still Small Voice of Clam 14:03, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The wooden platform canopies in this picture are quite distinctive, There hasn't been anything like this at London Bridge since rebuilding in the 70s, The scale of this station seems to be far smaller. Usually commons has other images available so a more positive identification can be made, especially at busy stations like LB. Not sure where it is hence in unidentified category. We need your feedback![edit]

Hello. Apologies if this message is not in your native language: please feel free to respond in the language of your choice. Thank you!

I am writing to you because we are looking for feedback for a new Wikimedia Foundation project, Structured Data Across Wikimedia (SDAW). SDAW is a grant-funded programme that will explore ways to structure content on wikitext pages in a way that will be machine-recognizable and -relatable, in order to make reading, editing, and searching easier and more accessible across projects and on the Internet. We are now focusing on designing and building image suggestion features for experienced users.

We have some questions to ask you about your experience with uploading images here on Wikimedia Commons and then adding them to Wikipedia. You can answer these questions on a specific feedback page on Mediawiki, where we will gather feedback. As I said, these questions are in English, but your answers do not need to be in English! You can also answer in your own language, if you feel more comfortable.

Once the collecting of feedback will be over, we will sum it up and share with you a summary, along with updated mocks that will incorporate your inputs.

Also, if you want to keep in touch with us or you want to know more about the project, you can subscribe to our newsletter.

Hope to hear from you soon! -- Sannita (WMF) (talk to me!) 09:56, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Digital Rail Artist images[edit]

It looks like 480 photos that you uploaded from Craig Garver's flickr stream aren't actually photos by Garver himself. They're by a mix of other named photographers and unknown photographers; in both cases, Garver owns the physical copy, but almost certainly does not own the actual copyright to the image. Would you be okay with me speedily deleting them, or should I send them to DR? Pi.1415926535 (talk) 18:52, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Best delete them, I was under the impression they they were his workOxyman (talk) 20:58, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've deleted them. In the future, please do be careful both to ensure that the flickr account is the copyright holder, and also with curating the files you upload. If you don't have the time to add descriptions and categories, it's best to put them in a cleanup category like Category:Rail transport in unidentified locations (where other editors will know they need proper identification) rather than broad categories like Category:Rail transport. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:57, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please delete and refrain from random uploads of my images[edit]

Hi Oxyman. Could you please request the deletion of your uploads from Flickr of my Pictures from Roslagsloppet 2021 for the following reasons: 1. It is the wrong version of the images. 2. I prefer to do my own selection and uploading of images to Commons. Thanks. Bengt Nyman (talk) 17:15, 9 August 2021 (UTC) Bengt Nyman[reply]

Hi again Oxyman. Please respond to this request !! Bengt Nyman (talk) 16:30, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If you want a deletion request it's really up to you to do it. Asking me to do something you want doesn't pass a logic test. Being familiar with commons I assume you knew what you were doing when licencing your images, my actions were valid. If you file a DR you might get a courtesy deletion, I won't obstruct or prevent that from happening. Oxyman (talk) 16:38, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oxyman, this is a question of courtesy and quality, not of legality. When Flickr contributors also upload their own images to Commons, they should generally be allowed to curate which images they put on Commons. Bengt is a highly experienced contributor; he knows which of his images are useful to have on Commons, and he works hard to add the correct categories, titles, and descriptions. Your mass uploads are uncurated, with no effort to add proper titles or descriptions. Please stop uploading Bengt's images, and focus on cleaning up the thousands of your uploads that need descriptions and proper titles. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 17:22, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've sorted out thousands of images in the cat and subcats of London and not moaned about who or why they were uploaded, I already said I won't obstruct or prevent those images from being deleted. Oxyman (talk) 17:40, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Pi.1415926535. I have added the proper categories for my images uploaded by Oxyman. I will proceed to replace Oxyman's upload with the proper version of the files. Bengt Nyman (talk) 07:08, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well you obviously could have done that without making unreasonable demands of me! Also if you want to contact another user it might be logical to use their talk page! Don't know why I am expected to explain what is logical! Oxyman (talk) 13:38, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About category[edit]

Hi, Oxyman. Are you uniformly assigning category to all the images you have uploaded? It looks to me as if you are uniformly categorizing "Category:Rail transport in the United Kingdom". Images of flowers, animals, parks, road bridges, etc. have nothing to do with railroads. Please do not categorize them as such. Thank you, --Krorokeroro (talk) 05:33, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
