Yo Guyz!

I'm utilizing this page here to demonstrate the new pattern recommended for re-categorizing dead-women and -men items, that I consider best and have begun implementing back in the winter. for organizing on Commons our personalities deceased through history while we strive to achieve maximum scheme enhancement in both continuity, flow coherence and pointfulness it should simply require creating a "Deceased people of" each country, conceiving 2 priority-indexed "men" and "women" cats and free room for sex-neutral group themes (such as "Victims of massacres during Polish 1970 protests" for Category:Deceased people of Poland, for example). This follows previous brainstormings centred principally on ways to optimize our usage of the somewhat-disused Category:Dead women and Category:Dead men. Do comment with your remarks and/or improvements!

Scheme levels, from bottom up

remove , add
categorize , and
categorize , and
remove , add
categorize , and
categorize , and

Useless, 95 % of the people on commons are deceased, and they will all move in that category eventually. This is not the role of Commons, this is for the wikipedias. It takes tremendous maintenance work, why we scrapped the category living people. Nobody will try to categorise/find a picture based on the fact that the person is dead or not. --Foroa (talk) 06:33, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't see why it's useless, our dead men and -women pools will either get too pointlessly full if we don't subdivide them thematically or editors will just neglect the need to send pictures and subcats there. Basing on this scheme, however, the division of the plenty of deadies becomes more logical - baring a horizontal (=country) concept. The point is not users' likelihood to be searching women categories by their dead-or-alive status, but the helpfulness that this method yealds to the organization of the broader dead-people tree. What will we otherwise do with all the dead-person entries? This method is good just because 95% of the people are deceased. Orrlingtalk 18:31, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
