Thanks for uploading File:Deputy Secretary Sherman Meets with Ambassador Hartley.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. How did you import flickr photos?
can you please use Special:UploadWizard's built-in import tool for flickr, or com:F2C? it seems your uploads could not be processed by User:FlickreviewR 2. RZuo (talk) 15:48, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
- @RZuo - I did use it, but AntiCompositeBot tagged the files regarding their license. I have never seen this happen with this tool. I manually fixed each upload. Is it a tool bug or something related to recent U. S. Department of State flickr photos? Please, let me know.
- Thank you, -- Ooligan (talk) 16:01, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
- thx. if you used it then it's probably not your fault. something else broke probably. RZuo (talk) 16:03, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
- @RZuo How do I report an error in processing or a possible "bug" to the owner of this tool, so that it can be fixed? -- Ooligan (talk) 16:09, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
- bugs of UploadWizard can be reported to phab:, or com:vp/com:vpt. RZuo (talk) 16:43, 7 December 2022 (UTC)

Flickr2Commons
I have just come across a few images you have recently uploaded from Flickr. I would appreciate it if in the future, you used the Flickr2Commons tool. This tool allows images to be moved to Commons from Flickr without having to download the images to your own computer. It also brings in the largest resolution of the image, as well making sure to list the correct license and url, making it easy for the automated Flickr Review system. Also, it is fairly easy to categorize images with this tool. To use it, you just need to go to the url and authorize it (where it says "authorise first"). A1Cafel (talk) 16:12, 11 December 2022 (UTC)

- My overwrite of a file I had uploaded a few hours before was justified under COM:OVERWRITE. See: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump/Copyright#Please,_rev_del_previous_versions_of_this_file.

Comments on Commonists, in the Common tongue
Translated from Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Commonists:
- I think a bot could be developed to handle some cases. I believe that the vast majority of cases could be handled by simply tapping into the article history, as this user often overwrote existing links with their own. Therefore, simply revert his changes and you will have the original images, in most cases.
- I agree that it's boring and manual for Wikipedia articles where the [photo] quality is lower. However, I'm currently having success at Wikidata where Orlando evaded blocks for a few years, but he mostly replaced high quality images, sometimes with even freer licenses, so all that needs to be done is identify his edit and undo it. Perhaps a bot could be leveraged to propose alternate images in the Talk Pages article, based on adjacency in a Commons category?
- If Commons Delinker could be leveraged to fetch previous images from article history, we could fix the vast majority of these by returning to the status quo ante, and then proceed by evaluating higher quality images. I recovered over 150 good-faith Wikidata contributions this way.
Cheers. Elizium23 (talk) 23:04, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
