Your animations are excellent. Thank you for helping me understand! 2A02:1811:3707:B900:797F:D6BE:8F3B:42D0 10:01, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

FFT aliasing 600.gif

[edit]

Hi,

I actually didn't pay much attention to the lower left animation yesterday. I think the linearly-connected samples were a deterrent. But today I noticed the fainter "folded" sinusoid, connecting the samples, but at the aliased frequency. I have two mutually-exclusive suggestions, both involving removal of the linear connectors:

  • Just remove the linear connectors, and darken the orange/red sinusoid.
  • Same, but also overlay the blue sinusoid. The same set of samples will fit both sinusoids, which is the whole point.

Also consider slowing the animation down.
Nice job!

Hey Bob K
I've impelmented your first suggestion as this was the easiest!
I have kept the same animation length, but changed the way in which the frequency changes to be more linear.
Thank you again for the suggestions!
