Horvitz photos[edit]

Would you please provide a list of any other photographs uploaded by the multitude of accounts claiming to be the artist David Horvitz that have not been identified and sent for review? The deletion requests at this time regard the fact that we cannot be 100% sure about the provenance of the uploading and whether or not it was actually Horvitz or someone simply claiming to be him, aside from the disruption of his whole "I"m uploading photos to Wikipedia and making sure that I'm in them in some fashion" modus operandi he has apparently had for 8 years.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 09:36, 27 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I guess what I'm having trouble with is why do we have to be “100%" sure that images uploaded by the David Horvitz modus operandi are in fact uploaded by David Horvitz? Why do you feel so strongly about it? (Totally off the subject, but I noticed you uploaded File:Legoland Billund - Pirate Carousel.jpg Were you in the Great Race?)--Nowa (talk) 17:40, 27 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Because otherwise we cannot be sure if the photograph is properly licenced. And I regularly scour Flickr for new free photos for Amazing Race pages when the Commons lacks it but that's frankly not important.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 13:52, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes. It sounds like you are agreeing with other editors that COM:PCP should read: “The precautionary principle is that a particular file should be deleted unless its freedom is beyond reasonable doubt”. I don't think it's quite that strong. I personally view the current “significant doubt” language to mean "by a preponderance of evidence" (i.e. more likely than not). That’s the standard of evidence we patent agents live by since it’s the level of proof required to deny an inventor a patent (e.g. The inventor's patent is rejected since it’s more likely than not that the invention is obvious). Regarding the Amazing Race, the reason I ask is that there is a wonderful old movie The Great Race that my friends and I watched four times one night to help us stay up to the sunrise. It’s kind of etched in my brain.--Nowa (talk) 17:21, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Would you stop being an ass about this guy's photos already. We don't want him here. His photos have been dubiously uploaded in an attempt to have them all stay because of his obsession with having part of him on as many pages as possible and game the system to gain notoriety in the world do modern art. Just give us the names of other files that you've found that the rest of us haven't.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 07:50, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate that you and several others are upset about his actions and apparent motivations, but I don’t share the same feelings. I think, therefore, that we’ve reached an impasse. If there is anything else you care to discuss, feel free to post. --Nowa (talk) 12:25, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just asking you to tell me any photos that have not been discovered by the rest of us. Neither this website nor the Wikipedia projects are to serve as his canvas anymore.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 12:45, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked[edit]

You have the right to your opinions, but you don't have the right to make statements in DRs that are either straight lies or direct aiding of an LTA sockmaster. Your comment in Commons:Deletion_requests/File:MooddisorderMooddisorderinspanish.jpg indicates that you're either in contact with Albianmoonlight, or that you lied to confuse the DR and get the image kept, helping Albianmoonlight, both of which are worthy of an indef block. In this case the same image was uploaded by 3 sock accounts, all claiming it as own work. That's copyfraud and sockpuppet gaming. If you continue to aid this LTA sockmaster, you'll join him and the other indef blocked accounts here at Commons. INeverCry 02:05, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. If you would like to know if I was telling the truth or not, feel free to ask.--Nowa (talk) 17:21, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The image you said you have confirmation for was uploaded by 3 different socks. Do you have confirmation of permission for all 3, or just the one uploaded by the sock in that particular deletion request? If you know Horvitz, get him to send OTRS. INeverCry 23:25, 27 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I just want you to know, Nowa, that I don't know you or have anything against you personally at all. My problem is with the socking of Albianmoonlight. I've blocked more than 1000 socks of various sockmasters on Commons, both as a CU, and as a regular admin, and a even a hundred or so when I was an admin on en.wiki in 2012. I've spent many hundreds of hours chasing them down, tagging and blocking them, and cleaning up after them. Albian isn't quite as bad as Jermboy, Wikinger, Chace Watson, or a few others, but he's up there pretty high on the list. Nobody would be happier than me if this could be sorted out, and resolved, and "Albianmoonlight" retired. I've never seen an LTA of this long-standing unblocked here, and he's not just on Commons; he spreads his sock uploads to many other wikis, but anything's possible.

With that said, if you have something to say, as you indicate above, I'll certainly listen with interest, and consider an early unblock if what you tell me warrants that. INeverCry 00:39, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response. Let me address your questions one by one:
  • I only have specific confirmation that the artist was the uploader for the most recently deleted image.
  • The OTRS was already requested from the uploader at the conclusion of the deletion discussion and the uploader participated in that discussion so I think we can consider the uploader notified. Even if that weren't the case, I wouldn't feel comfortable personally asking the artist to sign an OTRS. It's not my place.
  • Thanks for the references to the other socks. It helps me to see the context you are putting Albianmoonlight in. Jermboy27 looks like a particular challenge. What a mess.
  • Thank you for the offer to unblock. Do whatever you feel is best.
  • PS: I see two other images are up for deletion related to Albianmoonlight. I have no input on those other than the user name for those particular uploads seems out of character for the artist.--Nowa (talk) 15:50, 28 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Since the three copies of the image in question are now deleted and the sock uploaders blocked and tagged, I'm going to go ahead and lift the block early. I'd be interested to know what confirmation you had/have, but it's no big deal. INeverCry 00:16, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the unblock. If it matters in the future, we can get into the nature of the confirmation then.--Nowa (talk) 12:46, 29 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrights in relation to patents[edit]

Hi Nowa! I noticed that in the past you were involved with patent license templates for uploaded files. Please join a discussion on the topic here: c:COM:Village pump/Copyright#Reproductions_of_patent_text_and_illustrations. —Catsquisher (talk) 18:07, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
