Thanks for uploading File:Sogou Pinyin ḿǹ.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Sogou Pinyin ḿǹ.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

@Shizhao: Hi, how can I fix this issue? Thanks in advance. NFSL2001 (talk) 14:50, 29 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese fonts[edit]

Hello NFSL, are you the creator of the script which generated this image on the right ? Is this script on github ? I'am reorganizing en:List_of_CJK_fonts in a more systematic way. I would like to have smaller, horizontal images files for many CJK fonts. Files being such as:

  • Font-S-{police name}.png : 汉字
  • Font-T-{police name}.png : 漢字
  • Font-bpmf-{police name}.png : …
  • Font-pinyin-{police name}.png : …
  • Font-latin-{police name}.png : Aa Ee Rr Bb Gg Jj
  • Font-numbers-{police name}.png : 0123456789

If an open source script exists, I'am interested to learn about its place. Yug (talk) 21:55, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Yug: Hi, thank you for your interest. Yes, I am the creator, but this is generated manually using Illustrator. However, I could help you to look into programming a script to do so (what language to use?). I had referred to the Latin font sample like the image to make the Chinese font image. Would the picture like these be ok? These are rough sketches; if you have exact dimensions to be used in picture, please do provide the dimensions.
NFSL2001 (talk) 07:55, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

P/S: Genyo TC is used here for Traditional Chinese sample. It has a better character design and bopomofo than the original Source Han Serif TC. Other samples are from Source Han Serif SC.
P/S:此处繁体样例使用源样宋体,汉字和注音设计比思源宋体更佳。其他样例使用思源宋体 SC。
Hello NFSL,
I was exploring this idea for coming month you reacted faster than I expected :)
We have two avenues. 1) Do as much as we can. 2) Set up a well documented process so we do a part and other folks can continue when we are not there. I'am not sure the way (generated manually using Illustrator) is a wise idea on the long run.
On style: I haven't matured the dimensions or style yet (margin, etc.). The convention on the COMMONS:ACC is to have 300x300px square for one character, with 5% margins (15px on each side), so the character is 270px tall. I think another practice is to have 290px characters. The margin should be minimal within the image. If we need more margin, it should be handled later on, via HTML and CSS. You see the idea.
Review of your proposal: your proposal it nice yes. I think we don't need phonetics under the Chinese characters, but it could go into other files. Current margins are too much. Yug (talk) 10:02, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Note: I worked on a NodeJS script about 6 months ago but it needs to change the configurations and I'am not active on it these days/months. There is also the question of downloading and managing the fonts, a good deal of them being copyrighted. Yug (talk) 10:09, 24 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
