First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?

Mapas diócesis de España[edit]

Buenas noches NACLE:

He visto el trabajo que has hecho con algunos mapas de las diócesis de España y me gustaría que cambiaras a este formato los otros mapas que he ido realizando. Los puedes encontrar en esta categoría para las diócesis y en esta para las provincias eclesiásticas.

P.D. Por favor, añade la línea de separación entre la diócesis de canarias y la de San Cirstóbal de La Laguna en estos mapas: diócesis de Alicante, diócesis de Asidonia-Jerez, diócesis de León, diócesis de Tuy-Vigo, diócesis de Astorga y diócesis de Cádiz y Ceuta.

Una última petición, yo esque no se muy bien como hacerlo, pero si se pudiera marcar en los mapas las fronteras de las provincias eclesiásticas, similar al mapa de las provincias de España que está un poco más gruesa la línea de separación de las comunidades autónomas.

Veo que ya has visto los pequeños retoques que he añadido a los mapas. Todo lo que te mencioné anteriormente ya está resuelto, excepto lo de los límites de las provincias eclesiásticas. Quedan ya pocas diócesis que les faltan mapas y si no es mucha molestía lo dejo en tus manos. Coge cualquiera de los mapas que he retocado. Y muchas gracias por subirlos, la verdad es que era bastante necesario subirlos en SVG.

Buenas tardes NACLE:
He modificado el mapa y le he hecho cambios en las fronteras. He retirado una diócesis que había de más y añadido territorios sueltos. La configuración en sí estaría bien pero necesito que me cambies unas cosas que no se como hacerlo. Te dejo subido el nuevo mapa para que lo descargues. 1. La diócesis de Palencia pertenece a la provincia eclesiástica de Burgos y no a la de Valladolid, si pudieras corregirlo. 2. Las islas Canarias creo que estarían mejor con el borde azul como las islas Baleares.
Por último, he añadido la frontera de Andorra para que se vea, ya que Andorra es parte de la jurisdicción de la diócesis de Urgel.
Eso sería todo, si me puedes hacer los dos cambios que te indico arriba podría empezar a cambiar los mapas. un cordial saludo.

You forgot South Sudan in File:Italianomundo.svg. Make sure when you create and/or upload maps, to include the current (de-jure) borders , i.e. with South Sudan and Montenegro, which are often forgotten.

(I am adding South Sudan (as well as Montenegro and other possible missing updates) in the PNG and GIF maps in Category:Maps needing South Sudan political boundaries and then remove this category after updating them. There were close to 1100 maps since I started to update these files on 1 March 2018, now it is reduced to less than 500 maps, but there is a long way to go.
Unfortunately I don't know how to edit SVG maps myself and also sophisticated PNG maps like orthographical maps and maps with topographical features, that is why I asked you).

He visto que editaste hace tiempo el mapa de Cádiz para añadir un nuevo municipio, y me preguntaba si sería posible hacer lo mismo en el mapa de Granada, donde hay seis municipios nuevos (Dehesas Viejas, Domingo Pérez de Granada, Fornes, Játar, Torrenueva Costa y Valderrubio).
