Warning[edit]

Hi Mwbas. I noticed that you've made malformed deletion requests. Here, {{Delete}} is not for speedy deletion, please see COM:DP. When you want to delete a page by manually using the {{Delete}} template (rather than the automatic Nominate for deletion or Nominate category for discussion tool in the Tools menu on the sidebar per COM:DR#Starting requests and COM:CFD#Starting requests), you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion (or Commons:Deletion requests/Listing a request manually policy or the "By hand" portion of COM:CFD#Starting requests, normally collapsed), otherwise you will create a lot of work for other people. Warning: such edits are not tolerated and have led to account blocks, as "We cannot work here with people who are not willing to follow our procedures, in particular for deletion requests."   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 16:31, 4 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, firstly, if you have created an article or template yourself, secondly, if there are no other edits by other users and thirdly, if there are no links to other sites, then there is nothing wrong with submitting a request to delete the redirect. By the way, it doesn't bother me at all if this unnecessary redirect remains. Mwbas (talk) 10:38, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It bothers me when people make malformed deletion requests that end up in Category:Incomplete deletion requests and children.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 11:43, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please provide the definition of “incorrect deletion requests.” In my opinion, it was a completely normal deletion request for a forwarding that was no longer necessary. If you don't want to delete it, then read it as it is. This ends the discussion. Mwbas (talk) 11:09, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We currently have four types of incomplete deletion requests: the missing types (with missing timestamp, reason, or subpage); and the malformed type (generally, in the wrong place). Previewing pages containing such requests will reveal at least one complaint or category, if one applies and you are showing hidden categories.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 12:48, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question about stamp template[edit]

You mind if I ask what a "Four stamps block (type 1)" is and what the purpose of the template is? Like can you provide some sample images of "Four stamps block (type 1)"s? Thanks. Adamant1 (talk) 23:38, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, i don't know much english. This template serves the sole purpose of combining blocks of stamps from different countries in order to get an overview of the existing ones. I am not yet aware that new templates can only be created if there is a “common” interest. If you have problems with this, please tell me your reasons. Mwbas (talk) 10:22, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I kind of explained my problems with it in the Village Pump discusson that Jeff G provided a link to below this. Mainly it seems to be mostly useful to German stamps. As there is no globally agreed on standard for what makes something a "type 1" four block stamp. Things shouldn't be categorized or organized around a specific catalog or countries way of doing things. Plus this can just be done with a category anyway. Having a template for every niche sub classification of stamp is totally pointless. All it does is force everyone else to do things how the creator of the templates wants them to. Plus how many images of "type 1" four stamp blocks do we evwn have to begin with? I imagine not that many. We don't need a template for a couple of files. Again, categorise work perfectly fine. --Adamant1 (talk) 13:07, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your claim that this template is only intended for German stamps is unfortunately incorrect. If you have read the documentation, you can use the same template for each country by specifying the respective country. "Type 1" and possibly "Type 2" meant the difference between wider and longer stamps so that all blocks of four looked uniform. If there are not that many blocks of four, then you can easily omit this addition. Mwbas (talk) 11:09, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Where are these types defined?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 12:49, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See parameter: stamp-block-country-1, 2, 3 etc. Mwbas (talk) 14:00, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see, so you are defining them off the top of your head? Let me guess, 1 is wider than a square (landscape), 2 is longer (taller) than a square (portrait), and 3 is exactly a square (1.0 aspect ratio like Instagram)?   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 14:09, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Commons:Village pump#Guidelines for who can create templates and under what circumstances. This is in relation to an issue with which you may have been involved.

  — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 02:34, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Stamp of default country has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this template, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
