Just for the form

schilderijen van UB Leiden

Hallo Maarten,

Ik heb vandaag uit de beeldbank van de UB Leiden (http://digitalcollections.universiteitleiden.nl) een selectie gemaakt van schilderijen die vrij downloadbaar zijn voor het project Sum of all Paintings. Het zijn 279 records met de volgende variabelen: item, label, shelfmark, materiaal (=schilderij), handle. Als je mij je email stuurt, kan ik het spreadsheet opsturen. Kan je daarmee de images toevoegen aan wikimedia commons?

Wil je ze dan, behalve in Sum of all Paintings, ook toevoegen aan een categorie "Paintings" in "Category:Collections of Leiden University Library".

Als je de link met de handle in een browser plakt, zie je een pagina van een portret met metadata. Onder de downloadknop met het pijltje zit een medium sized JPGEG. De link voor downloaden van de JPG die hoort bij het eerste item:1581995 is http://digitalcollections.universiteitleiden.nl//view/item/1581995/datastream/JPG/download.

De hoogleraren op deze portretten zijn allen waarschijnlijk als persoon al opgenomen in wikidata. Zou je die portretten ook nog aan de hoogleraren kunnen koppelen?

Quella foto l'ho fatta io nel 1998 quando facevo il fotografo di Arte e Architettura (ovviamente ho l'originale) Vorrei potermela attribuire ma non so come farlo, se non caricandola tra le mie e poi inserendola in Wikipedia

Category:INaturalist images missing SDC depicts may need a poke

We, birds from Sumba, do have a depicts (P180) statement.

Hello Multichill, I see that you created Category:INaturalist images missing SDC depicts. I have recently added depicts (P180) statements to many of these files, but they keep showing up in the category (although the category itself doesn't appear with the individual files anymore (example), which I find interesting. @Spinster: nice, it's finally populated. I was planning to at some point to run a bot on these based on the data in iNaturalist. I see you're doing just that. Great!
Probably is that SDC edits don't trigger a complete new page render. So your addition doesn't trigger a template update and no category update either. Pretty sure we have a bug open for that, but I stopped paying attention to most of these a long time ago. All my bots do a dummy edit to the page to trigger an update. You should probably have OpenRefine do the same. Multichill (talk) 19:25, 1 June 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, @Multichill, I am enlightened. We are dealing with this Phabricator ticket here. I have responded there and we now also have a GitHub issue to look at it from the OpenRefine side. As more batch tools and bots trigger this problem, IMO it's best that it's eventually fixed on the Commons side though ;-) Spinster (talk) 17:00, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
@Spinster: , I do a lot of category refreshing as well. My favorite way to deal with it is to run https://hub.paws.wmcloud.org open a terminal and run pwb.py touch -cat:Artworks_with_Wikidata_item:_quick_statements to refresh all the files in Category:Artworks with Wikidata item: quick statements. --Jarekt (talk) 03:08, 4 June 2022 (UTC)

iNat pictures

Hoi Multichill, vond dit ook wel grappig: [1]. De puntjes buiten het verspreidingsgebied roepen wel wat vragen op.... maar wijkt niet veel af van de data op GBIF. Nog over de bulk upload. Ik ben zeker ook zeker geen tegenstander. Er zitten dus wel wat onscherpe foto's tussen. Zou mooi zijn als we die eruit halen door de scharpness oid van een foto uit te rekenen? 4 miljoen observaties x 1 Mb = 4 Tb = best veel data. Het merendeel van het materiaal is vast prachtig. Als mensen meerdere foto's per observatie uploaden is de eerste foto doorgaans het beste. De default instelling van iNaturalist is trouwens geen vrije licentie. Er zullen vast meer gebruikers zijn die hun foto's vrij willen maken. Geen idee of dat makkelijk kan voor alle foto's. Rudolphous (talk) 06:33, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

cancel automatic geolocalisation

Hi,

I think it's an error to automatically geolocalise files in structured data with this bot. By doing so, ou have exposed the localisation of my private home.

No, the error is you adding coordinates you don't want to share. You exposed your location, not the robot(s). You adding coordinates triggers the indexing. Have a look at Special:Nearby.
Just be careful, don't try to blame your mistakes on someone else and you can ask an admin to delete any revisions containing private information. So no, I'm not going to disable this bot. Multichill (talk) 15:16, 10 June 2022 (UTC)

I am messaging you because a contest for a sound logo for Wikimedia is being developed and your opinion as a Wikimedia Commons admin is appreciated. My team would like to know if it is possible for the top finalist sound logos in the contest to have attribution temporarily hidden from public view until all the votes are final? The idea is to let the public judge the sound logo contestants based on the merit of the logo, not the person or people who made it. Again, any feedback is appreciated.

Victor just ask participants to submit entries with a {{CC0}} license only. That way attribution is not mandatory and the logo can be used without having to link it every time (which is quite needed for a logo anyway). Multichill (talk) 18:08, 17 June 2022 (UTC)
