Just a SDC question

May be, that you can help. I'm adding image notes to my photographs, so objects can be located. And I've seen a qualifier adding these positions to the depicts statement. And I can't find a manual or at least an example how to add this qualifier. Do you know which qualifier is possible to transfer this rectable from image notes to the qualifier? (The transfer will be done by my bot, I need an example for property and qualifier or data type.) Thank you in advance! --XRay talk 12:00, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

@XRay: do you have one or more example images? Multichill (talk) 12:04, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
This one is an example for an image note: File:Coesfeld, Walkenbrückentor -- 2014 -- 4078.jpg. But I haven't an example with suitable SDC data. That's what I'm looking for. But I'm nearly sure that I've seen one, but I can't find it. The rectangle of the image note was added as qualifier. So the data type should have 4 values (left, top, right, bottom or left, top, width, height or similar or a special type "rectangular"). --XRay talk 12:38, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
Property found! At Wikidata: relative position within image (P2677) --XRay talk 19:02, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
@XRay: yeah, I knew something was around build by locas, but didn't look it up yet. See for example https://wd-image-positions.toolforge.org/iiif_region/pct:36.3,65.8,26.6,10.8 . See the manual at d:User:Lucas Werkmeister/Wikidata Image Positions. Multichill (talk) 19:38, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
Thank you! Bot modified and the first items successfull modified. Modifying structured data via bot is a good way, but there are still issues of manual work. And the activity of a bot is better, if the description and categorization of the photograph is good enough. --XRay talk 12:02, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

Deletings of your bot

Dear Sir,

could you kindly tell your bot to stop the deletion of "church build" on structure dat of churches. If you do a request for church building, all pictures with the assignment "church building" will show up. But you don't get all the churches that have only their names on without the item "church building". So by deleting "church building" you reduce the availability of the database. Sincerly --Hans G. Oberlack (talk) 19:48, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

@Hans G. Oberlack: I'm following the guidelines of Commons:Depicts. You shouldn't be adding church building back. If you don't agree with those I suggest you go to the talk page.
The current search engine is a very suboptimal implementation. In the future you should be able to search for "Church", "Kirche" or "Kerk" and all these files should show up. Multichill (talk) 20:37, 11 May 2020 (UTC)

Category discussion warning

Category:Berrington,_Herefordshire has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Questionnaire invitation (a new tool to be developed, to verify media data)

Hi there, I'm developing a tool to assist users in verifying (structured) data of media on commons.

To understand the community's needs, I would like to invite you to participate in this questionnaire: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScbNdJdQYN1yBvEeKne48eWDU6SBsdlUfNBAmZyvUEBkCR1Gg/viewform?usp=sf_link. It should take ~2 minutes.

Thanks a lot. :D

(You received this message as you seems to have experience with structured data on Wikimedia projects.)

Commons - Media Search

Greetings,

The Structured Data team is working on an alternative, image-focused prototype for media search on Commons. The prototype uses categories, structured data as well as wikitext from Commons, and Wikidata to find its results. The development team would like your feedback on the prototype, as they are looking to work to further enhance the search experience on Commons. If you have a moment, please look over the project page set up on Commons to find a link to the prototype and leave your feedback on the talk page. Thanks for your time, I'll be posting message similar to this one to other pages on Commons. The team is looking forward to reading what you think. Keegan (WMF) (talk) 20:47, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
