Correction of licenses

Hi, it happens sometimes that I change a license on files coming from external sources, simply because the license here don't match with the license on the source. Each time that happened you BOT already added the structured data about the license, and each time I changed it. My question is simple: if I change a license tag on a file that already has the license statements, and that I forget to change the structured data, will your BOT uppdate the structured data? will your BOT simply add a new value in addition to the former one? I have no precise exemple as it will be too much time consuming to search in my contributions, and it's not an issue at all, it is just by curiosity that I ask. Add the moment my bot only monitors categories like Category:Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 missing SDC copyright license and not like Category:Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 with different SDC copyright license (damn, why did that one explode?) so the files you edited should still have some tracker category.
If my bot does run on one of these files, it will just add the missing license. Currently no licenses are ever removed or replaced. Multichill (talk) 18:39, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
Ok that's what I thought, thanks. Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:15, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi ! The information was added when this file was updated, without source. I switch to private collection. Léna (talk) 19:00, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

Duplicate files

Hello! Do you know if there is some tool (or some other way) that can help find images inside a single category that uses the same structured data like: "file available on the internet" > "described at URL" > https://www.flickr.com/photos/snotch/50630584827/.

I.e. I wish to find duplicate files inside a category where apparently the SHA1 is different, but they were sourced from the same file on Flickr. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 19:00, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

Like File:Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica '^1901' (Rchb.f.) H.R.Sweet, Amer. Orchid Soc. Bull. 38, 36 (1969) - Flickr - sunoochi (6).jpg prior to the merge, where both had https://www.flickr.com/photos/snotch/49661184353/ in the structured data. --Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 19:03, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

Inferior Duplicate files being downloaded

Why was File:Daniel Turner (active 1782-c.1828) - Nelson's Funeral Procession on the Thames, 9 January 1806 - BHC0569 - Royal Museums Greenwich.jpg uploaded when we already have the superior File:Nelson's Funeral Procession on the Thames, 9 January 1806 BHC0569.jpg. There is more than one example of this going on.

The Art UK site routinely carries an inferior version of the same file available at the source museum (RMG/NMM) website. Thats not always the case with every UK museum, but generally speaking it applies to this one. The Art UK site has the source museum url embedded alongside the images it carries. There will be a lot of duplicates potentially. -- Broichmore (talk) 19:04, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

Yes, that happens. Your example Nelson's Funeral Procession on the Thames, 8 January 1806 (Q50860807) was without illustration for over 2 years. The metadata on File:Nelson's Funeral Procession on the Thames, 9 January 1806 BHC0569.jpg is very unstructured so the image won't be discovered. I would prefer not to upload duplicates, but i prefer having illustrated Wikidata items more. Multichill (talk) 20:27, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
What do you mean, I uploaded the superior version on 5 May 2020 properly numbered with both ID numbers and titled per the Museum, and I notice Wikidata uses it on (Q50860807). Your bot uploaded an inferior one on 4 July 2020. I notice that botmultichill attached the duplicate to Wikidata same day, and then Multichill attached mine to Wikidata on 12 December 2020. So where does the two years come from? Why is it uploading a duplicate museum ID number? So no check is made of what commons contains. Broichmore (talk) 20:44, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
Check the history. I added the info after you left your message. Using {{Information}} and just putting everything in the description field won't make it very discoverable. I see that in your more recent uploads you're using {{Artwork}} and filling the right fields. That's a step in the right direction. Multichill (talk) 21:02, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
Yes, indeed. I specialize in bespoke uploading, seeking out images for use in Wikipedia for articles without pictures, naval history articles in the main. I was using the Upload Wizard form but dumped it because it forces the Information template. The Special Upload file form allows me to use the artwork template buts its very messy in the File history comment box. Should I be using a different uploading tool for artwork?
May I ask, surely Wikidata has scraped the National Maritime Museum should you not be uploading missing images (for NMM and Art UK entries) from there, rather than Art UKK? fae has uploaded a large part of the NMM collection, but there are currently at least 1/3 to a 1/2 of available images not uploaded.
Then a bot may go out to find on Art UK, files that are not on the NMM website; files that have been made exclusive to Art UKK by the NMM. -- Broichmore (talk) 15:03, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

Structured data licensing

I suggest for files in Category:Items with disputed copyright information, wrong information shouldn't be copied into structured data fields. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 11:26, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

You can update the structured data with statement disputed by (P1310) if you like. Multichill (talk) 11:29, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
