Hi,

Why did you delete this picture? According to Dutch Copyright law, all that is published by or through the government is free of copyright. As Radio Netherlands Worldwide is a government agency, this applies to them as well. Note that RNW published many pictures on flickr under a CC-BY licence, like this one: File:Crash Turkish Airlines TK 1951 cockpit 2.jpg

Dutch copyright act (article 15b):

Artikel 15b

Netherlands Antilles copyright regulation (article 11):

Artikel 11

Okay, I guess you're right. Sorry for all the fuss. Fentener van Vlissingen (talk) 16:47, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
No Problem at all. It can be very hard and frustrating to find free images of certain topics. Multichill (talk) 16:56, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Piranga, Sylvia

Please undo the mess of broken links that you have left with your changes to these categories. Also please see the relevant talk pages; there was no consensus for the moves you made. Thanks. MPF (talk) 09:21, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

  • ✓ Done, you're welcome. Multichill (talk) 12:37, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
    • That has not restored correctly. Now the names in the Taxonavigation are incorrect; the species have names like Sylvia atricapilla, not Sylvia (genus) atricapilla; there is no genus called "Sylvia (genus)" in the family Sylviidae. This needs to be corrected, as a matter of high importance. Please put it back to the state they were in two days ago with the bird genera at Category:Sylvia and Category:Piranga. Those disambiguation pages are totally un-necessary, and much better dealt with by hatnotes and/or Category:Xxxxx (disambiguation) categories. - MPF (talk) 12:53, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
      • We're not going to move these categories around again. If you don't agree you can open a topic at Commons:Categories for discussion. Multichill (talk) 13:04, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
        • Why not? Why was it done in the first place, in the absence of consensus for it? The Sylvia disambiguation category in particular is complete nonsense, spuriously contrived solely to make it difficult to put the genus there, in a manner which no other category is made up. There is no similar Category:John listing people named John Xxxx, no Category:Michael listing people named Michael Xxxx, etc., etc.; and by the same token, Category:David needs to be changed into a disambiguation page listing categories of people named David Xxxx, and Category:Art needs to be changed into a disambiguation page listing categories such as Category:Art Blakey and Category:Art Garfunkel. And what happens if I do open a topic at Categories for discussion? You and Foroa will gang up against me out of Foroa's vindictiveness against me (see e.g. Foroa's personal abuse against me on his talk page calling me an "egocentric taxomaniac", and further disparaging but incorrect remarks there), and no-one else will comment (since no-one else ever does comment on such things). If this nonsense doesn't cease, I'm quitting this place - I come here as a volunteer to improve the site, not to find it impossible to do any work here because Foroa or you are going to revert everything I do, or to take abuse from other administrators. - MPF (talk) 13:30, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Unacceptable?

Why do you think this [1] is unacceptable? Malcolm Schosha (talk) 18:56, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Did you notice that it says that "decaying sea animals on the beach smell much better than the users, who upload anti-Semitic cartoons to Commons"? --MGA73 (talk) 20:42, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I noticed that. Why do you think it justified to block users who object the stinking antisemitic cartoons have been allowed onto Commons, and criticize the users who put them here? Malcolm Schosha (talk) 21:06, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
If you fail to see why it is not acceptable to make personal attaks and tell other users that they stink worse than "decaying sea animals on the beach" then I give up. --MGA73 (talk) 21:26, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Au contraire. It appears to me that Multichill is saying that it is unacceptable to criticize the presence of antisemitic cartoons on Commons. What he has done is block a user for criticizing what it is quite justified to criticize, and thereby seems to be trying to silence that criticism. That is quite different than what he claims to have done.
Has he been previously involved on the side of protecting those cartoons? If so he should undo his block because that means he acted as an administrator when you are involved in the dispute. Malcolm Schosha (talk) 21:40, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
You're reading too much into it. Block is based on en:Wikipedia:No personal attacks. Multichill (talk) 09:16, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
You are trying to use WP:NPA to justify WP:JDLI. In fact I see that you are an involved administrator [2][3], and as such you should not have acted to block anyone over this issue. Since you are involved in the issues of the dispute, it would be the right thing if you removed the block, and let other uninvolved administrators deal with this. Malcolm Schosha (talk) 12:07, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Stop wasting our time. Those edits are more than 1 ½ years old! I doubt that anyone (but you perhaps?) think it is ok to say that other users stink. If an "uninvolved" admin think that it is ok then (s)he will unblock per her unblock request. --MGA73 (talk) 13:35, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
You are an involved administrator, and should not have acted administratively to block Mbz1. In your edit above you admit that you are involved in the issue, and so you should remove the block. Malcolm Schosha (talk) 13:47, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Come on Malcolm, if administrators would block quicker for unacceptable behaviour such as from Mbz1, Lycaon, Pieter Kuiper, as Multichill did, we would not have to waste hundreds of pages on useless discussions. --Foroa (talk) 15:17, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
My own view is that it is a mistake to block good editors for abrasiveness, as though other users will fall apart over that. It is a misguided effort to re-engineer human nature, and create a sort of wiki-Utopia. The result is that Commons is both depleted of many good editors, and delusional about human nature. I have never supported the blocks of even Pieter Kuiper, even though I think is presence is somewhat toxic, and his editing frequently contrary to virtually everything I value. But in human life there is often dark and light combined, ie chiaroscuro. The only blocks that I consider helpful are for obvious vandalism, etc. Pretty much everything else is misguided despotism.
But in the case of this block, Multichill is obviously an involved administrator, and his block of Mbz1 discredits both himself and diminishes the credibility of all other administrators -- and particularly those administrators who actually support such misuse of administrative power. Feh. Malcolm Schosha (talk) 15:36, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
File:Flickr_-_NewsPhoto!_-_Uit_de_oude_doos,_Elco_Brinkman.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Geolocaties items langs Defensiekanaal

Multichill (talk) 17:44, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Midnight68

I'm surprised you undeleted files based on commons:Undeletion_requests/Archive/2010-08#File:Kogaru1.jpg without notifying me that you were reversing my decision. Could you let me know why you did that? ++Lar: t/c 21:36, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

I was hoping for an answer, somewhere. I'm not sure I agree with your reasons for undeletion, and would like to hear more. ++Lar: t/c 11:47, 8 October 2010 (UTC)
I always try to inform users of pending deletions, I never notify admins of undeletions. Multichill (talk) 17:42, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

- Robotje (talk) 22:20, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Paste. Even wachten op reactie NA. Multichill (talk) 17:39, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

What happens when BotMultichillT makes a duplicate upload of a preexisting image?

I'm curious about this as I noticed that the bot makes periodic uploads from the US Navy's photo feed, so when I look to upload something from here I tend to check and see if it was uploaded already (a lot of the time it is). Sometimes though I beat the bot which makes a later upload of the same image. Someone later comes and tags my earlier upload as a duplicate, when I think they should be tagging the more recent bot upload as the duplicate. BrokenSphere (Talk) 22:44, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

My bot tries to not upload duplicates (it checks if the image already exists before uploading). If duplicate images happen to occur it's up to the user to decide which one is "better". Multichill (talk) 23:09, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Empty lines between defaultsort and categories

Hello, Is it possible to make your bot to not insert empty lines (like here) or other stuff (like interwikis) between the DEFAULTSORT and the categories? I have seen some other bots insert empty lines, but most bots manages to not put interwiki links there. /Ö 10:41, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, it's just a standard pywikipedia bot. I don't know why it suddenly started adding these extra lines and why the interwiki's are in the wrong location. I have to look into that. Thanks for pointing this out to me. Multichill (talk) 23:08, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Living people

hello Multichill,

I saw your bot had deleted the categories Living people, but I don't find any discussion on this topic. Can you help me ? Thank you. Okki (talk) 12:10, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Sure, see Categories for discussion (11/2009) and Categories for discussion (09/2010). Multichill (talk) 23:06, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Living peopele -> People by name

Groeten, Wouter (talk) 22:03, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Is ondertussen leeg zo te zien. Multichill (talk) 23:05, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Bedankt voor de dubbele people by name terug naar één keer. Dat staat wat netter. Wouter (talk) 20:37, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

User:CategorizationBot has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this user page, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

O right, I forgot to correct that. Fired up a bot to remove the dupes. Multichill (talk) 13:45, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
