Some help please

I have been doing these by hand - but would like some help if the bot can do it -

to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:COLLECTIE_TROPENMUSEUM_Wajang_wong_voorstelling_%27Jaya_Semadi_en_Sri_Suwela%27_in_de_kraton_van_de_sultan_van_Jogjakarta_TMnr_60002068.jpg is just short of 40 images: - whose category Yogyakarta needs to be changed to Kraton of Yogyakarta, and also needs category Wayang wong added - if your bot is able - it would be much appreciated if it could SatuSuro (talk) 14:03, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

Looks like you had an interesting time in the USA - trust you are safely home now and all is ok. I have decided to to proceed with the change by hand - I am sure I will find some other bots things later.... SatuSuro (talk) 14:46, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
It sure was interesting. How is the Indonesia related work going? Multichill (talk) 20:24, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Very very very interesting thank you! - there are many aspects to it that require a lot of patience and diligence - I disagree with most of the category tree for a lot of it (but I can live with it) - and have found some gems amongst the whole range - well worth the exercise! Hopping

I must be terribly stupid. How will you know that the discussion is being pursued? :-) Humboldt (talk) 22:30, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Your talk page is on my watchlist. Multichill (talk) 22:34, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Confirming my deep ignorance, I don't even know what a watchlist is... I know you answered my question because I had the curiosity to look at your talk page, otherwise I would not have been aware of your answer. "Hopping", as you call it, has the immense advantage of informing me whenever somebody has written something on my talk page. Unfortunately, you don't accept this so practical way of communicating... :-) Humboldt (talk) 19:43, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Having dozens of discussions scattered over different talk pages makes it impossible for me (and other users) to follow them. Multichill (talk) 22:01, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Temp ship categories

What is up with these temp ship categories? Is there any plan what to do with these pics or categories?--Sanandros (talk) 21:13, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm adding these categories to help assist the categorization effort. Multichill (talk) 21:24, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Could u describe that with more details?--Sanandros (talk) 21:28, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Add temp categories (like Category:Images from US Navy, ship USS Milius (DDG 69)). Find matching topic categories (like Category:USS Milius (DDG-69)). Move images to the topic category and maybe filter of some overcategorization. Multichill (talk) 22:01, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Umm, your bot also adds these categories to already categorised file. Do I need to remove them by hand or do you take a second bot run?--D.W. (talk) 21:41, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

It works on all files in subcategories of Category:United States Navy images by location (sea). These temp categories turned out not that useful. I'll see if I can filter out overcategorization in the next run. Multichill (talk) 22:01, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Bot malfunction : Starr batch upload created series of misleading file names

Hi Multichil,

Would you have a look at Commons_talk:File_renaming#Category:Phoebastria_immutabilis_.28head.29? Other administrators don't seem interest in resolving this and per Commons:Bots#Bot_accounts, it's up to you to fix the identified bug. -- User:Docu at 11:30, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Up time me? You are a funny guy. Use {{Rename}}. Multichill (talk) 22:00, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
Quite a few were already done that way and if there were just a few more, this wouldn't be a problem either, but it's a widespread problem with this batch.
I offered to do (some of) them directly myself, but this offer was turned down. Probably I shouldn't have bothered, as it's really for the uploader to fix. That isn't you, but your bot ;) -- User:Docu at 10:37, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Don't try to shove work down my throat, I wont bite. Multichill (talk) 10:45, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Problem fixed! =) Adam Cuerden (talk) 19:59, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

No country update?

Hi. I notice some of the User:Multichill/No country entries are not done. E.g. I just fixed these manually:

  • Category:Saint Michael churches in Lithuania should be a subcategory of Category:Lithuania
  • Category:Saint Nicholas churches in Lithuania should be a subcategory of Category:Lithuania

I think you had a bot to fix these automatically, right? Wknight94 talk 10:15, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for everything that you did on Commons and the support that you gave me! --The Evil IP address (talk) 17:59, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Pais Vasco

Hello Multichill, in category propositions, Pais Vasco has to correspond to Category:Basque Autonomous Community, distinct from Category:Basque Country, see Category talk:Basque Country/Category scheme Basque Country. Is your bot capable to make the difference? Greetings, --Havang(nl) (talk) 09:51, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

File:WLANL_-_mchangsp_-_Zonder_titel,_1970.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Image permission

File:Meisjesfiguur, gemaakt door Pier Pander in 1894, Ryksargyf Fotos, Tresoar.JPG

You can get permission for this image by contacting tresoar personally. They are a major Dutch-frisian heritage institution so that means that they speak both Dutch and English, as is common for all major heritage institution which also attract foreigners (americans, brazilians or canadians) looking for information about there ancestors. Error in closure?

I believe you may have made an error in your closure of this file. There appears to be a general consensus there among several experienced commons users for the final disposition of this image to be the deleted state. I'm all for discounting opinions made on the pure basis of taste, the poorly supported positions of inexperienced contributors, or repetitive "party line" voting by someone with a clear agenda, but none of those appear to be the case there. Can you provide some more elaboration regarding your decision or otherwise consider reversing your closure? --Gmaxwell (talk) 21:40, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

GMaxwell, why not open a DR? The {{Second Life}} is only for scenes that creators made themselves. But this seems to be a screenshot by someone who just visited the virtual sex club. The template is primarily used on images with sexual content. Probably you can delete most of it as copyvios. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 21:47, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Because I'm indifferent to the subject. If someone asked me too I'd comment on such a DR after considering the details. In this case I'm writing to Multichill because the closure looked highly irregular regardless of the factual details of the case at hand (which I have not bothered to consider). If these community members are mistaken in their opinion then we need to do something to clear up the confusion as they will continue to apply that criteria in their own activities. And, of course, if they are correct then the image should be deleted. So regardless of the facts the handling in this case appears to be mistaken in my view. --Gmaxwell (talk) 21:56, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
If you are only interested in process, I think Multichill did nothing wrong. But anyway, I have already made a DR, see Commons:Deletion requests/File:Double Blowjob in Sex Club (SL).jpg. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 22:03, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
I didn't say "process". I'm concerned that Multichill is disregarding the informed opinions of many experienced users— and either leaving them to continue making bad judgements or doing the wrong thing. "Process" be damned, that simply sounds like bad governance. --Gmaxwell (talk) 22:23, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Dcoetzee is experienced. He changed his mind, advocated undeletion, and an ordinary review of the copyright status of such images. Which you now also take part in. I believe that the regular process has great advantages. I will give result in less randomness and inconsistency. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 23:04, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

UN Photo Library

OK, Multichill, you now have me intrigued -- Commons:United Nations Photo Library -- care to enlighten us to what this is regarding? Something already organised, or in the processes of being organised? Details me boy, details :) --russavia (talk) 08:51, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Drie ontbrekende foto's WLA/NL

Hoi Multichil,

–Krinkletalk 00:23, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

US Navy Pics

Can your Bot add automatically Cats which are red? And can he use this template?--Sanandros (talk) 08:41, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

All the categories starting with Images from US Navy only used to help in categorization. I intentionally didn't create them. The images in these categories should be moved to topic categories. So these categories will get deleted over time so creating them might not be so useful. Multichill (talk) 08:57, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
At COM:DL, one can request a move from any of the categories such as in Special:Categories/Images from US Navy: the color doesn't matter. --Foroa (talk) 09:38, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes of course they are only temporary but we should first find these pics and thene afterwards we can still delete these cats--Sanandros (talk) 10:43, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Advice

The graveyard category name advice is appreciated - I do hope I might make sense at the village pump - does it mean anything to you? SatuSuro (talk) 04:43, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

The Commons Barnstar
Without Multichill Commons would be a much harder place to work. Multichill is one of the most active users on Commons and he never stops to look for more images to upload or for more ways to cleanup and help maintaining things on Commons. Thank you very much! I'm happy my work is appreciated. Multichill (talk) 16:06, 30 May 2010 (UTC)
