Questions about the bot

Does your bot simply move the images from nl.wikipedia to here and put the {{uncat}} template on it?

When I look to see what links to some of those images at the nl.wikipedia, sometimes I find links and it helps me (a human being) to find a category for the image.

It seems too easy to put that template on every image which is moved. That is just my opinion, however. -- carol 12:39, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

No, my bot uses commonshelper to find categories, but when pictures aren't used, commonshelper cant find any categories. In some other instances commonshelper has a hard time finding categories and adds the uncat template. My bot does add {{BotMoveToCommons|nl.wikipedia}} to every new image because commonshelper is far from perfect so every picture should be checked by a human. Multichill 14:55, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
I had the 'T' cleared out of images that needed categorizing and when I looked at it yesterday, it was totally full again. Your bot does a good job at categorizing the images then because the ones that were there were next to impossible to identify. I wonder if there could be an intermediate step taken where the bot notifies the user who uploaded the images to nl.wikipedia and gives them some time to categorize and/or describe the image. If the uploader is no longer interested or "can't remember the reason or purpose" for the upload or what it is even, consider deletion. To move them here just starts a very long process which should have perhaps started there, for some images years ago -- of deleting due to no description and no use and questionable licensing. When I first started 'doing' things here, I was told that there were 3000 images being uploaded daily. Your bot seems to find problem images well, perhaps it could wait before uploading them here? For me, it gives nl a bad (and perhaps unwarranted) look and feel. -- carol 18:29, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi,

I deleted this picture tagged as copyvio because it used Template:Screenshot.

Cheers.--Bapti 09:04, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for you message. Please undelete the picture. It's a template mismatch. I transfered this image from the nl wikipedia. At the nl wikipedia it uses the local template screenshot to indicate that it is a screenshot of a free program. The template free screenshot should have been put at the picture here. Looks like commonshelper doesnt make that match. Multichill 11:20, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
I cropped the picture. New picture is without the windows bars. Multichill 11:35, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Oki, thanks for your answer.--Bapti 10:42, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

More wrong categorized images

This is what I found in Botanical diagrams only today. Just to show what amount of mess your bot is causing.

Nice images that I really like to have here in the Commons but unfortunately totally wrong categorized by your bot. --Ies 18:23, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

More wrong categorized images

Images that your bot categorized totally wrong in Category:Spoken Wikipedia.

Please understand that the mess your bot is causing is unacceptable. --Ies 19:18, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
