User talk:Mopper~commonswiki
Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Question[edit]
Why are you so bent on getting female urination images deleted? We have 27 pictures of an act which is performed roughly 28 BILLION times per day. -mattbuck (Talk) 09:59, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
Autoconfirmed users[edit]
The preferences pages said I am a member of the group "Autoconfirmed users". Please change it to "Confirmed users"
- There is no need to. Autoconfirmed and confirmed users have exactly the same rights, with an auto confirmed user being confirmed automatically after a four day probationary period. Sometimes a new user will have the need and be trusted enough for an admin to confirm the user without the probationary period. Your account is way past the time where autoconfirmed and confirmed matter. See Commons:Autoconfirmed users.--KTo288 (talk) 23:38, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 11:11, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

Request for adminship[edit]
Hi Mopper. I undid your RfA here, because the Commons:Requests for rights is not the right place for this. This is where you can find more information about becaming an administrator on Commons: Commons:Administrators#How do I become an administrator?. However, I have to warn you. With only 51 edits atm here you don't make a chance to become an administrator now. Keep up the good work though and thanks for your help! Regards, Trijnstel (talk) 17:05, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Mopper. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Mopper~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
