Alawite distribution in the levant[edit]

Hey I need to talk to you about the map 'alawite distribution in the levant'. I have modified the map according to the sources given on the picture's details. I have even explained the changes on the 'talk page' Can you give me detailed instructions on how to upload my image to show it as a revised version of yours? Either message me, write on my page, or write on your page as a reply/response to this. Ass711 (talk) 5:53, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

I've replied on your page Moester101 (talk) 04:31, 14 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

hey thanks for the replies, i replied to them , however i was wondering if you could show me how to upload them on the page of the picture. I edited it to include the modifications according to the sources i got them from. If i upload it, you can take a look and choose to select it as the main picture it or not. And again i also emphasize that some of the sources i used are from the sources of the picture (original maps showing distribution). Ass711 (talk) 7:50, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Hey i've uploaded the file 'alawite distribution in the levant with my adjustments/modifications. sorry it took so long i was busy doing other work. With regards to talkalakh region please refer to the picture's image which shows the sources, the region at the very least is 60% alawite and 20-25% christian (since there is the wadi-nasara region) along with the remainder being sunni (most of whom dominate the city of talkalakh). With regards to jisr-al shugour, please refer to this map: (http://www.fragilestates.org/2012/04/23/how-ethnic-divisions-become-political-fault-lines/), it shows the western part of idlib (jisr al shugour region - west of assi) as being predominantly alawite. The source (Fragile States Resource Center) is not biased so i dont think their data and illustrations are wrong or misleading. Ass711 (talk) 3:25, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

hey thanks for replying here are my responses: If according to your research the area north of latakia city is christian then sorry for that your can change it back to original, but i confused that christian area with the qassab area which is predominantly armenian christian, minorities of with arab alawi and turkmen. with regards to the north-western tip, sorry about that you can change that back to make it look like little or no alawi presence, but other that that area the rest of talkalakh is predominantly alawite and talkalakh town itself is mixed. with regards to east hatay being non-alawi, I was being generous at best, since most sources say that the province has one and half million arab residents and they are evenly split between alawi and sunni with a significant minority of christian (i.e. 40-40-20 respectively). many sources even state that samandag and yayladagi disrticts are the only majority alawite districts (coastal region south of iskenderun and southernmost region near border with latakia, syria), while stating that antakya itself is mixed. Anton Saadeh has been dead for 60 years, so there's not much point in debating with him. Anyway, extreme irredentist nationalists are not usually known for the modesty of their ambitions or willingness to set a limit to their claims. If the map is based on your purely personal ideas, then it doesn't belong on Wikipedia. In any case, you need to indicate what the underlying source of the base map is, and whether it's freely-licensed... AnonMoos (talk) 10:32, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Arab dialects[edit]

Hi, I suggest that you upload your work to File:Arab_World-Large.PNG first and add your name as an author next to the previous one. I promise to vectorise that map (make it SVG) and upload it to File:Arabic Dialects.svg‎. Regards.--Rafy (talk) 11:02, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The map is amazingly detailed. My only concern is the reliability of the source as it is considered questionable. I'll check it out and make changes when I have time. Moester101 (talk) 05:57, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
