Sadhu images[edit]

Dear Mercurywoodrose
Thank you for letting me know that you liked the sadhu images! You have categorized some picture. I shall do the rest. The "year in country" category is very useful to me, as there are always a mix of categories from photographs in a single photo shoot. I shall always upload to the "yic" category, later those photographs will be sorted into an appropriate category by someone (here it was you, usually User:Roland zh does it.) --Biswarup Ganguly (talk) 15:35, 18 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mercurywoodrose, you added the category below to some pictures. But I think the correct category should be Category:Michael Reynolds. Could you fix that? Best regards --Pilettes (talk) 11:54, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

whoops. already fixed.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 17:20, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Dear friend, when people are united by clear principles, as Rodrigo said Constantine, there is no room for arbitrariness. The principles serve as an objective criterion to judge the acts. In contrast, when it comes to a tribal group, whose example claim to be the corporate and selected board of trustees asked for this Pindorama, your membership will always be treated with complacency. See the recent example of Yanguas administrator would be subject to a request for desnomeação and apologized saying that it would act with less arrogance and more patience with other users who rely on their page to ask for aid, which often are denied . What we noticed is that their behavior continues in reverse messages from publishers who do not like, acting totally one-sided, and treat people badly, especially IPs, and not give greatest satisfactions of his actions. As for the "outside", the popular editors such as myself, will always be severely condemned. The use of two weights and two measures is a common characteristic and worth everything to save the skin of the partner for more criminal that was his act. Aristotle, one of the greatest thinkers of all time, said that a proper society is governed by laws, not men. By this he meant that we should adopt a rule of law equally valid for everyone, as opposed to arbitrary power that it gives to friends, as enemies to apply the rigor of the law. Likewise, an appropriate combination is united by ideas, not men, and its members are loyal to the ideas, not to the group. The Mafia, for example, is the opposite of such an association because its members owe allegiance to other members, not the objective values. With this distinction in mind, it is clear that many of the stance adopted tribal administrators always or even mafia rather than the laws of this project and his editors that support it with articles and photos. Administrators and "burrocratas" are treated as "special" in possession of a pass for misdeeds. The noble ends always justify the means obscure and crimes perpetrated by their leaders are never crimes, unlike those made by common editors. Are always two different weights to obtain two measures diametrically opposed, hence my simple, peaceful and a lonely protest Wiki forgiving one Adailton, a Yanguas tribal members of this class and never condemns a Junius compactuou with this mob loyalty, sectarian and coup. Hugs Junius (talk)"
beautiful sentiments, but its a photo of a toilet:). however, in all matters, the details are of import, and every battle, however small, is of consequence. hugs right back.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 02:16, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's true, muy friend. Thank you. Não se preocupe que foi apenas um protesto isolado. Não postarei mais fotos como esta. Fique tranquilo. Eu sou posto fotos de qualidade superior. Por isso, pode eliminar. Junius (talk) 02:23, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I need to rotate the image [1]. Can you help me? Junius (talk) 02:28, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, já resolvido. Obrigado pela paciência e pelos bons conselhos. Não se preocupe mais com imagens de baixa qualidade. Serão sempre postadas por mim imagens boas. O meu protesto já terminou. Somos irmãos americanos. Junius (talk) 02:46, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
"Ok, now resolved. Thanks for your patience and for good advice. Worry no more with low-quality images. Posted by me are always good images. My protest has ended. We are fellow Americans."

Reverting[edit]

When you see more than one version of a file, you can click the "revert" link that appears next to it and it will revert to the version of your choice if there's more than one. Have posted this at the admins' board because these uploads will need to be deleted as there's nothing proving they're public domain. We hope (talk) 02:49, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 07:26, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open[edit]

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

The Cross Ventura.jpg[edit]

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Cross_Ventura.jpg Unfortunately that is the best photo I have of the NO. 113 SITE OF JUNÍPERO SERRA'S CROSS. It is the Site of Junipero Serra's Cross. The Cross is on top of a large hill that overlooks downtown Ventura. Here are the coordinates 34.284826,-119.296129

Coffee time[edit]

Thank you for all your good work cleaning up coffee-related categories. It think something like 200 files was categorized in the main category alone just a few days ago, now there's only seven left. Well done, jonkerz ♠talk 11:02, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion[edit]

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

'Cups of coffee' and 'Coffee cups'[edit]

Hi, the purpose of Category:coffee cups was to include photos of cups intended to be filled with coffee; their subcategories are for example Category:Coffee cups by color‎ or Category:Porcelain coffee cups, and contains even empty cups. On the other hand, we have also Category:Cups of coffee, with photos of cups filled with coffee and subcategories like Category:Cups of black coffee or Category:Cups of Espresso. We also have categories for different Category:coffee containers like Category:Coffee glasses, which are not properly categorized as 'Cups of coffee'. Lobo (howl?) 11:39, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I reverted some edits, like the previous one about 'Coffee glasses'. Maybe it could be better another categorization, but I am unfortunately not a native English speaker. Do you have any proposal? Lobo (howl?) 19:09, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

IMO number[edit]

Just for your information. The Category:Ships by IMO number had been created for the purpose of connecting the same ship with her different names. Unfortunaltely this does not work for naval ships and old ships, as they don't get an IMO number. The same system applies for European barges, they have an ENI number. --Stunteltje (talk) 08:35, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Mental restrictions[edit]

I've declined the speedy on this category, we do not speedy delete populated categories, if it had been emptied beforehand it might have been. On declining the speedy I noticed a Category for discussion page had been opened for it. Although waiting for a CfD to close, some seem to go on for years without ever coming to a conclusion, can be frustrating, once a category has had a CfD opened it is very bad form to attempt to have a category deleted before the CfD has been concluded.--KTo288 (talk) 07:43, 30 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
