Hi, you say that this picture is your own work, and release it under the {{PD-self}} license. However, it seems very unlikely that you took this picture yourself; as it might still be in the public domain (older than 70 years, {{PD-old}}) I did not request its deletion, but please clarify the copyright status of this picture. Thanks. --Tryphon (talk) 20:18, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I know this person and helped upload the photography. It was worrying me that we had probably used the wrong tag.
You see, she was given the photographies as a present, so she is the owner of the only physical copy (altough I'll check this again to make sure that I understood properly) No, I misunderstood, she has one of the multiple copies that there are around. The tower was covered with cement before the Spanish Civil War of 1933, so the photo itself is at least 75 years old, probably from around 1910, when photography was popular in Spain before the First World War, so it's probably 100 years old. I'll ask more questions to the person to see if I can stablish the exact year that they were taken at, who took them, when he died, and see if their family gives permission in case it's still under copyright (there are other 100 photos on the set from the same time, so it's worth the effort). Can you give me 5 days before removing? --Enric Naval (talk) 22:07, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, of course. It seemed to me that the uploader was of good faith, and made an honest mistake by tagging the picture as {{PD-self}}; that's why I wanted to discuss this before even nominating it for deletion. So take the time you need to do your research, but keep in mind the following points:
  • The physical support does not matter, so the source of the work is always the photographer, not the person owning the picture;
  • {{PD-old}} applies counting from the death of the author, so even if the picture is 100 years old, the photographer might have died just 50 years ago.
Anyway, thanks a lot for taking the time to look into it, and if you need any help, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck.

I asked, and most of the photographies are by the grandfather of Carpi, who died more than 70 years ago (his grandson is 85 years old). I'll ask for his full name. I have been told that the images have never been published anywhere, and that people pass copies from hand to hand.
many thanks for the good faith and patience :) --Enric Naval (talk) 23:49, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're very welcome, and I should be the one thanking you; after all, you're the one who did all the work. Anyway, I'm glad you could clarify the situation. --Tryphon (talk) 00:16, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
