Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

No scusa, non credo che vada bene. La Marsica è una sub-regione? Allora si puoi mettere dentro le categorie dei comuni che la compongono, non foto qua e là. Non sai esattamente delimitare la regione? Allora lascia perdere, non servono categorie di entità geografiche vaghe. Metti le foto nelle categorie dei singoli comuni. Ho capito. Allora: 1) l'errore stava nel template di Cesoli che lo indicava come un comune, mentre è una frazione di Ortona dei Marsi: ho corretto l'errore; 2) il fatto che si tratti di una frazione, non vuol dire che non abbia diritto di esistere e stare come frazione: le frazioni sono rese in inglese con la parola villages; quindi Cesoli l'ho messa nella sua categoria di pertinenza in Category:Villages in the province of L'Aquila; 3) hai ragione che non puoi spostare i nomi di files o categorie, non è dato a tutti; comunque nelle nostre categorie italiane vige la regola che le frazioni sono seguite dal nome del comune di appartenenza fra parentesi: quindi ho provveduto in tal senso a cambiare il nome di Cesoli. In quanto frazione di Ortona dei Marsi, naturalmente Cesoli va categorizzata in questo comune. Credo che adesso le cose stiano a posto. Se hai altri problemi, fammi sapere. P.S.: ho cancellato le immagini di Cesoli da Ortona dei Marsi, perché naturalmente ora che la frazione è nel comune, sarebbero una inutile (ed inammissibile) sovracategorizzazione. P.S.2: forse varrebbe la pena di verificare i comuni della Marsica qui in Commons con quelli segnalati nel relativo articolo di it:WP. Credo che ci siano delle differenze. I villaggi (frazioni) non debbono figurare nella categoria della Marsica, ma essere sistemati all'interno dei relativi comuni.

Ciao Marica. Prima di tutto grazie per la tua collaborazione e l'ottimo lavoro che hai fatto. Non ti devi scusare: all'inizio si fanno errori, anche noi li abbiamo fatti a suo tempo, poi c'è stato chi ci ha corretti e corretti ancora, infine abbiamo imparato a fare le cose in modo giusto. Ora tocca a te. All'inizio ci si sente un po' spaesati, ma poi, una volta capito il sistema e le parole usate e le sintassi applicate, vedrai che ti verrà semplice e spontaneo categorizzare le immagini nel modo corretto da subito. Allora ti aggiorno su alcune cose: 1) ora che hai sistemato i comuni nella categoria della Marsica, è chiaro che le varie immagini andavano spostate nei comuni di appartenenza, di modo che non risultassero sovracategorizzate(*). L'ho fatto io stesso, lasciando nella categoria Marsica solo le immagini con vedute più ampie (e non specifiche di un qualche monumento), quindi vedute della Marsica. Tutte le altre ora sono esclusivamente nelle relative categorie comunali (o monumentali-comunali). 2) Ho notato che anche la Category:Fucine Plain presenta lo stesso errore di inversione di categorie: se puoi sanare anche questo, te ne sarei grato. 3) Quello che ho notato è che tutte queste belle immagini di luoghi, comuni, monumenti in Marsica, se sono ben categorizzati nei rispettivi luoghi, tuttavia sono piuttosto carenti nella categorizzazione del soggetto o dell'oggetto; e questo è un peccato perché poi proprio le bellezze architettoniche o artistiche di questi luoghi non figurano nelle rispettive categorie di ricerca. Allora visto che ho capito che sei abbastanza innamorata della Marsica e la conosci bene, quello che vorrei proporti è: che ne dici di fare tu questo lavoro? Non ti chiedo di fare un lavoro minuzioso e certosino, ma solo macroscopico, per grandi categorie. Non ti spaventare; procedi così come ti dico.

Tuo riferimento deve essere la Category:Buildings in Abruzzo e le sue sotto-categorie.
Controlla poi ogni comune della Marsica, che files di edifici ci sono e che cosa mostrano.
Regola fondamentale: non realizzare una nuova categoria se hai solo uno o due files. Realizza la categoria nuova se hai almeno tre immagini, o tre sottocategorie.
Seconda regola fondamentale: non sovracategorizzare immagini o categorie. Il sistema di categorizzazione in Commons è gerarchico, non globale; quindi (per intenderci) se la chiesa di San Giovanni Battista si trova ad Ortona, che è un comune che si trova in provincia dell'Aquile, che si trova nella regione Abruzzo, che si trova in Italia, che si trova in Europa, a questa chiesa devi dare solo la categoria immediatamente superiore, quella di Ortona dei Marsi, e non tutte quante le altre, anche se indirettamente la chiesa si colloca in tutte queste altre localizzazioni. Insomma va data sempre la localizzazione più specifica possibile; ed in sua assenza, quella immediatamente superiore (per dire: se manca il comune, si mette nella provincia, se manca la provincia si mette nella regione, e così via).
Allora il lavoro che ti chiedo di fare per ogni comune, è quello di realizzare le categorie architettoniche specifiche dove necessario. Penso alle chiese, ai castelli, alle torri, ecc. Per esempio, già per Avezzano vedo che si può realizzare la Category:Churches in Avezzano che avrà come sottocategorie il suo comune Category:Avezzano, poi quella di riferimento alla regione Abruzzo Category:Churches in the province of L'Aquila, ed infine quella nazionale Category:Churches in Italy by city. Se c'hai un castello, controlla se è anche categorizzato nei castelli della relativa provincia, o altrimenti della regione. Se hai almeno tre elementi realizza la nuova categoria; altrimenti assegna all'immagine la categoria architettonica provinciale o regionale immediatamente superiore.
Attieniti per quanto possibile alla sintassi diffusamente applicata in Italia. Per esempio non "Chiesa di San Pietro a Pincopallo" e neppure "San Pietro church in Pincopallo" ma "Category:San Pietro (Pincopallo)".
Non ti impantanare con altre categorizzazioni più specifice (periodo, secolo, tipo, ecc.); voglio dire che se ne capisci e hai le idee chiare, tanto di guadagnato se dai anche una categoria cronologica o di stile architettonico; altrimenti non fa niente, lo farà chi ne è esperto e se ne vorrà applicare.

(*) Se non hai chiaro che cosa si intende per "sovracategorizzazioni" e in che cosa consiste, fammelo sapere e te lo spiego.

Giusto. Le sovracategorizzazioni sono appunto categorie generiche superiori date a categorie specifiche. Per dire: alla chiesa di San Giovanni Battista dare la categoria dell'Abruzzo o dell'Italia quando già è categorizzata in Ortona, che è un comune dell'Abruzzo, che è una regione dell'Italia. Le sovracategorizzazioni vanno sempre smantellate perché appesantiscono solo inutilmente il sistema ingolfando categorie generiche con files o categorie specifiche che sono già sistemate correttamente altrove. Le sovracategorizzazioni sono anche assolutamente inutili perché (per rimanere all'esempio dato) chi cerca la chiesa di San Giovanni Battista di Ortona, la cercherà sotto Ortona, non sotto Abruzzo o sotto Italia. Per quanto riguarda invece la creazione di una categoria, basta che qui sulla sinistra, in alto, nel riquadro sotto il logo di Commons tu ci scriva Category:NomeCheTuVuoiDare. Se la categoria esiste già, ti verrà data immediatamente in neretto, cliccando il quale entrerai nella categoria; se invece la categoria non esiste ancora, allora o clicchi sul tasto "Vai" o su quello di "Ricerca": nell'uno come nell'altro caso il nome della categoria così come tu l'hai scritto ti verrà dato in rosso, cliccando sul quale ti verrà aperta la relativa pagina (ancora vuota) nella quale tu scriverai fra doppie parentesi quadre le varie sovra-categorie che tu vuoi assegnare. Quindi, salvando, avrai creato la nuova categoria, assegnando il cui nome alle immagini, te le ritroverai tutte sistemate lì. La differenza tra "Vai" e "Ricerca" è che col primo passi subito al nome come tu l'hai scritto; con "Ricerca" invece ti verranno proposte una serie di categorie simili o attinenti già esistenti, e/o ti verrà consigliato di cambiare qualche parola nel nome da te proposto (in base a quelle che il sistema conosce), quasi sempre proposte insensate. Comunque quando non sei sicura del nome di categoria da te scritto o proposto, ti conviene sempre cliccare su "Ricerca", perché tante volte il sistema ti rivela che quella categoria esiste già, ma semmai scritta in una maniera diversa, oppure ti rivela un errore nella tua scrittura, che so una minuscola al posto di una maiuscola, oppure la presenza o meno di parentesi, virgole, ecc.

Se hai altre domande o bisogno di altre delucidazioni, mi ritrovi ancora tutta questa sera. Categorie comuni della Marsica[edit]

Ciao Marica. Visto che la mia partenza è stata rimandata di un giorno per mancanza di posti, ho trovato tempo per guardare un po' il tuo lavoro. Mi sembra che stai diventando decisamente brava! Complimenti! Vedi che una volta capito il sistema e dove cercare le categorie-madri o -figlie, il lavoro procede abbastanza spedito e non è difficile più di tanto. Ti faccio notare solo un paio di cose:

se crei categorie "Churches in villaggio", categorizzale non solo in Villaggio, ma anche in Churches in Comune di Appartenenza, perchè le frazioni fanno parte del comune, quindi le chiese delle frazioni fanno parte delle chiese del comune. Per intanto quelle in cui mi sono imbattuto le ho messe in Churches in Avezzano. Semmai tu che sai meglio quello che hai realizzato controlla tu stessa eventuali manchevolezze per altre frazioni di altri comuni.

Alla chiesa di Santa Sabina di San Benedetto dei Marsi ho aggiunto la categoria delle chiese in provincia dell'Aquila (che mancava); come al Palazzo Sipari di Pescasseroli ho aggiunto la categoria dei palazzi nella provincia dell'Aquila.

Alla Tomba di Perseo ho aggiunto la categoria dei siti archeologici dell'Abruzzo. Complimenti per la "Category:Lucus Angitiae" ! Così andava nominata la categoria! Le zone archeologiche vanno nominate col loro nome antico, per distinguere le aree archeologiche dall'abitato moderno. E' un grosso lavoro che sto facendo (purtroppo solo occasionalmente quando mi ci imbatto) per tutta l'Italia, per sanare nomi disorganici e/o pazzeschi (un esempio ce l'hai per l'area archeologica di Fiesole, non ancora sanata).

Infine, quando realizzi una categoria col nome sbagliato, non usare il template {{delete}} che richiede tutta una procedura più impegnativa, con controlli ed eventuali discussioni; realizza invece la nuova categoria col nome corretto e poi in quella col nome sbagliato scrivi {{bad name|Nome corretto della nuova categoria}}. Naturalmente la categoria col nome errato deve essere del tutto vuota da files e rimandi a categorie. In questo modo la categoria con nome errato verrà cancellata in tempi rapidissimi.
Questo sarebbe tutto. Ancora complimenti per il lavoro fatto! E per le belle foto che hai realizzato e caricato. Davvero la Marsica è splendida: un'idea per una porossima vacanza! Mah, io sono un conservatore, nel senso che se fotografo ad esempio una chiesa con una brutta luce, perché sono passato per la prima volta mentre pioveva e non c'erano ancora immagini, se poi ci ritorno con maggior fortuna (orario con facciata in pieno sole o con un bel cielo azzurro con nuvole da dipinto rinascimentale) non le sovrappongo, magari a qualcuno serve proprio una foto cupa per sottolineare un articolo. Non dimentichiamo che le immagini essendo a licenza libera possono essere utilizzate da chiunque, dovunque e per qualunque scopo, quindi io sono per lasciare sempre tutto. Semmai qualcuno al vertice di Commons decidesse che sono troppo simili tra loro che si prenda chi di dovere la responsabilità di scegliere quella da tenere e mettere in cancellazione le altre. Nulla toglie, naturalmente, che se tu ritenga che sia effettivamente un inutile doppione allora sovrapponi pure. Per le mappe antiche però non so come aiutarti, non ne ho praticamente caricate nessuna e non ho idea come gestirle. Il mio pensiero è che se io faccio la foto, mia è la licenza d'uso che decido di concedere, sempre che questa non vada esplicitamente ad invalidarne un'altra, ovvero se io raccatto in rete una foto di un quadro del seicento per le politiche di Commons è tollerato (o se preferisci accettato) che venga caricata da me perché comunque i diritti d'autore su una riproduzione di un'opera che ricade nel pubblico dominio non possono essere vantati dal fotografo (ma per me è ancora terreno minato e non mi ci avventuro troppo), quindi sempre in teoria la carico con il solo PD-100 e pace, se invece la foto è mia mettere anche il PD-100 male non fa ma IMO non è poi così indispensabile. Forse lo sarebbe se io ho fatto delle ricerche e una foto di un'opera di autore morto proprio nel 1915 è proposta per la cancellazione del patroller di turno "per prudenza" (cosa che io maldigerisco, ma queste sono le regole del gioco), per cui inserendo quella licenza mi gioco la credibilità con il prossimo (nel senso che se non è vero e mi colgono in flagrante un lungo blocco non me lo toglie nemmeno la buona parola di Jimbo). I doppioni non si sovrappongono, a meno non siano ritocchi migliorativi della stessa opera (vedi questo caso con una mia foto). Al più chiedi la cancellazione di quello venuto peggio, se ritieni sia proprio inusabile.

per gli stemmi civici la questione è più complessa. Lo stemma di per sé non ha restrizioni, ma il disegno sì perché è opera di qualcuno. Quindi è permesso fare un proprio disegno dello stemma secondo le specifiche dello stemma stesso, ma può essere un problema caricare lo stemma disegnato da qualcun altro. Solo perché un soggetto è di pubblico dominio non significa che una sua riproduzione sia libera, significa che tu puoi riprodurlo e caricarlo qui. Quindi su quello andrei cauto (per capirci: tu puoi fare un disegno del Colosseo e pubblicarlo qui, non puoi pubblicare il disegno del Colosseo fatto da qualcun altro, se il disegno non è in pubblico dominio).

Le mappe, se più vecchie di cent'anni, non hanno problemi, perché o sono PD-100, o PD-70 dalla pubblicazione con autore sconosciuto o molto probabilmente PD-70 pma (dopo la morte dell'autore).

La foto del 1915. Se è foto "artistica" vale la regola di 70 anni pma, altrimenti 70 anni dopo la prima pubblicazione in Italia. Ciao Marica. Vedo che Sergio mi ha preceduto nella risposta. Mi associo pienamente alle risposte che lui ti ha dato. Per le carte antiche no problem. Per gli stemmi, quando ho letto il tuo messaggio credevo trattarsi di quelli scolpiti, visibili sopra i portoni di case e ville private o di edifici pubblici antichi. Per questi una loro foto non crea alcun problema. Per quelli invece in immagine dei comuni attuali, mi associo a Sergio: vacci piano! Io nei primi anni in cui lavoravo qui su Commons, mi sono occupato molto di stemmi che erano in un marasma incredibile, sia quelli di tutto il mondo (dove mi preoccupavo soprattutto delle categorie dei soggetti rappresentati), sia quelli dell'Italia. Ricordo che per questi ultimi lavorai mesi e mesi a raccoglierli, sistemarli per regioni e province, sistemarli nei rispettivi comuni, ecc. insomma dopo mesi e mesi di lavoro qualcuno decise che erano tutti copyviol e in un attimo vennero cancellati a migliaia. Lavoro di mesi e mesi annullato in un secondo! Queste devastazioni purtroppo sono periodiche ed hanno avuto come effetto da un lato il mio totale allontanamento e disinteresse per i Coats of arms, dall'altro ad una mia presa di posizione molto critica che espressi tre anni fa al Bar italiano in occasione di una nuova cancellazione di massa. Che dirti? Carica i tuoi stemmi, ma non ti meravigliare nè dolere troppo se un giorno qualcuno si sveglia e improvvisamente vanifica il tuo lavoro. Fai con calma. Una delle attività utili su commons che in genere si apprende dopo ma forse converrebbe capire meglio prima è come strutturale meglio le categorie. Basta pragmaticamente copiare lo stile dalle categorie simili, in particolare lo stile del nome che spesso oscilla fra inglese e lingua locale. Comunque una volta impostate poi si possono sempre rinominare, ma c'è sempre bisgono di fare ordine. Oltre che di migliorare le cat e inserire le coordinate dove mancano.

Anzitutto non mettere coordinate imprecise, se metti un punto "a caso" nel comune allora è inutile, per tale livello di dettaglio basta la categoria (di itWiki, di commons) o la proprietà di wikidata (che alla lunga un po' si sincronizzano fra loro, è solo un processo non-linare e non pianificato). Se le metti devi esserci sui 1-20 m almeno di precisione sennò è inutile, è uno spreco del tuo tempo.

C'è un dubbio se le coordinate da mttere sono dell'oggetto o del luogo della macchina fotografica. Personalmnte se sono molto diversi, io se la foto è un panorama metto dove è il fotografo, mentre se ritrare qualcosa di specifico, tipo un palazzo dall'altro lato di un fiume, metto le coordinate dell'oggetto spcifico. Ignoro se sia correttisimo ma mi smbra funzionale e nessuno si è mai lamentato.

Come trovare le coordinate? Semplice: digita "find latitude e longitude of a point" su google è pieno di siti con mappe interattive. Usa quello che preferisci, cerca il luogo sulla mappa, sul punto clicchi e ti dà i due valori (tre se c'è anche l'altezza) e tu li copi nell'apposito modulo all'atto del caricamento o nel template apposito se le foto sono già caricate.

Molti settori fanno trsitezza o pena su alcune piattaforme wiki. dipende se c'è passato un utente capace a sistemarle o se sono prevalentemente il prodotto di una casuale stratificazione di azioni rigorose ma parziali, oppure semiautomatiche e quindi mai prefette o non del tutto verificate, o necssarie ma frettolose eseguite per tamponare un problema improvviso etc. come ti ho detto l'Abruzzo è stato assai sfortunato e le risorse per gestire la massa di dati sono quelle che sono.

come sempre chiedi altri dettagli a chi all'assemblea ti sembra ti possa aiutare, il bello di wikipedia è che è una rete di utenze, più persone conosce più dettagli conosci. Non c'è quasi mai un modo solo di fare le cose.--Alexmar983 (talk) 12:50, 17 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

e allora a posteriori non lo fare :D semplicemente se ti capitase con una nuova foto, ricordatelo. E ricordalo a altri che caricheranno foto. Dai tempo al tempo... commons è un sistema molto stratificato e manca di gestione e visione generale. Secondo me il lavoro continua a accumularcisi più di quanto venga smaltito (a differenza di itWiki dove il lavoro sporco è circoscritto ma in costante calo, in totale o percentuale).

per quanto rigurada wikidata se intendi proprio creare l'elemento, lo fa ciclicamente un bot. Se invece intendi inserire delle propietà relative alla immagini nell'elemento, come l'immagine, non è particolarmente complicato. Basta cliccare su "add" e poi inserire "commons category" a sinistra (c'è il completamento automatico) e a destra il nome della categoria (senza "category:"). Analogamente a sinistra puoi inserire "image" e a destra il nome del file (senza "file:")

Alle assemblee è difficile parlare del lavoro su wiki, io sono andato solo a una sotto casa e poi ho di fondo lasciato perdere. C'è tanto lavoro da fare, e le informazioni mi arrivano via ML. raramente abbiamo da votare su qualcosa di divisivo, che mi ricordi... poi secondo me dovrebbero calendarizzarle mesi prima.--Alexmar983 (talk) 11:29, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Aielli è poco dopo Celano e oltre le Gole di Celano, forse vede il Monte Serra di Celano; da li al Velino c'è il buco della valle che scende dall'altopiano delle Rocche, i Monti Della Magnola, la valle Majelama e poi il Cafornia.
