Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Neligh and Elgin, Nebraska

Thanks for your comments on my Nebraska photos. As you were sending me the message, I added some new pictures for Neligh: of the New Moon Theater and the Atlas Bank.

If you've got Neligh connections, maybe you could answer a question for me. Did the Atlas statue atop the bank originally hold a globe, and if so, what happened to it? If it was dislodged by some kind of weather event—well, a four-foot stone globe hitting Main Street from three stories high would've been kind of a momentous event in the city's history.

Where's your gallery located? There's no link from your user page. Would like to check out your pictures, but not sure where to go.

I asked but if so it was too long ago. I would call the Neligh Library or goto <http://memories.ne.gov/index.php> and contact someone there to see.

Found a book in the Norfolk, Nebraska library yesterday with an old picture of the bank, showing the Atlas with a globe. There was no word on the fate of it. I suppose that it was damaged by wind or lightning and then removed safely; but I still relish the thought of a four-foot sphere of solid marble bouncing down Main Street toward the river, doing serious damage to Packards and Studebakers in its path.

Repeat question: where can I find your gallery?

Sorry. Goto a user page and select "user contributions" and you should see a link for gallery. It's in wikimedia help somewhere. There is also a "user option" to turn on gallery as a tab. Some other options to examine are the "category" options, which for example put categories on top of photos which really helps organize. I think you already figured out to not put photos into parent categories of categories, I mistake I was making for a while. Mang9 (talk) 04:06, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. I didn't know about the "gallery" feature; instead, I have a category, "Pictures by Ammodramus", in which I include all my photos. There's a thingum called HIDDENCAT that I've included in it, so it doesn't show up in the list of categories for each file. One advantage that I can see over the "gallery" option is that it allows me to look at 200 thumbnails at a time; I think the gallery business only lets you see 25 at a time, albeit with more individual detail.
