QI declines[edit]

Hi. Thanks for your review of images at QI, but could you please not simply decline by saying "insufficient quality". It's better if you can point out what it is that is wrong with the image (eg bad lighting, chromatic aberrations, composition, dust spots, unsharpness, oversharpness, bad colours, JPEG artifacts, too small...) -mattbuck (Talk) 14:47, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:AKG Perception 120 USB condenser microphone with SH 100 shock mount.jpg[edit]

Hi Lucasbosch, I reviewed your file "File:AKG Perception 120 USB condenser microphone with SH 100 shock mount.jpg" a few days ago because of the CAs I found on it. I thought they were easy to fix but when I tried to do the job, I had to admid that it wasn't so easy ! Anyway, I think I've fixed the main problem. Are you going to upload a new version ? If not, I can upload one, but only if you want it, of course. -- Best regards. --JLPC (talk) 14:36, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't so easy, indeed, but I've removed the CAs now. Lucasbosch (talk) 18:17, 29 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --Steinsplitter (talk) 18:19, 28 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

--LB 16:35, 21 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

--Berthold Werner (talk) 07:59, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I just notice to you that this image that was deleted in 2015 have been restored. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 21:38, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Christian Ferrer: Thanks for letting me know! Was there a change of rules that allow such PCB photographs now? Can I upload more of them using the same copyright template? – Lucas 21:53, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Not really a change of rules, it's simply that administrators have a very wide range of copyright protections to check, and it's hard to know all about all. Maybe Heldwig was not aware of the same things that the administrators in this discussion. I think you can upload similar photos with the license(s) of your choice, in the extend that you're the copyright holder of the photos of course. And if someone ask again the deletion of one of your printed circuit boards photo then give him the link of this relevant discussion/decision. copying from a subcategory up into the parent cat?[edit]

Hi Lucas, Can I ask why you are copying from Category:Taken with Canon EF 100mm F2.8L Macro IS USM to Category:Lens focal length 100 mm. Since it is already a subcategory, I don't see much benefit from this, and it makes the parent category unwieldy. --99of9 (talk) 23:36, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@99of9: I didn't realise that having that subcategory in place is enough to also associate the files themselves to the focal length 100 mm for all intents and purposes (I should reread the categorisation guides). I though it would be best to assign them the additional, fitting, category so the images could be better found by others and subcategories were there as additional info to browse through categories. I didn't consider that categories with a lot of files are a negative. Do you want me to move these out again? I don't want to cause additional mess. – LucasT 23:48, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Lucas. Yes it would be best to remove them unless there is good reason. COM:OVERCAT might be useful reading to understand the rationale. Thanks. --99of9 (talk) 23:59, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. You produced this version of my image while trying to improve the background when it was an FPC. The trouble is that this version is now in galleries. What is the process for getting rid of it please? Should you just remove the categories? Many thanks Charles (talk) 08:48, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Charles, I only see it being used in one bot gallery, and if you don't want it to be placed there you could just edit the gallery page and remove the entry for it there without changing the file itself. Do you see it being used elsewhere? I don't see a good reason to remove the file itself or any categories. – LucasT 11:10, 22 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. It is these two categories: Category:Chlorocebus sabaeus in Bijilo Forest Park Category:2016 photographs of Gambia It does not qualify to be in either gallery as it is simply your editing experiment. Thanks. Charles (talk) 10:25, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Charles, (these are categories, galleries are a different thing on Commons) These categories describe the content of the image, whether it is a original upload or a processed one like this one. If one would remove these two categories, the image would be uncategorized and placed into a "uncategorised files" maintenance page waiting to be categorised again.... It is totally reasonable to processing experiments in the fitting categories as well. I don't want to hide the image, it might be useful for someone and your source file is clearly linked. You need to live with the fact that your images with the license you use can be edited and continue to exist as regular files, including having fitting categories. – LucasT 12:37, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
ok fine, if that's the way things work. I think a good solution would be for me to produce a new sub-category of processing experiment. Charles (talk) 13:24, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder: Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2016 is open![edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2016 Picture of the Year contest.

Dear Lucasbosch,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.

Picture of the Day[edit]

Hi Do you know how this image came to be nominated a second time for Picture of the Day? Charles (talk) 12:18, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Charles, a few months ago I nominated a few of my FPs for PotD and I must have missed that this one already had been nominated by someone else before. I'm curious though, are there rules governing the frequency of PotD nominations? --– LucasT 14:12, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've no idea, but there's a long queue, so I think once is enough... Charles (talk) 22:32, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A beer for you![edit]

Hallo,

The closing of the nomination was not a malfunction of the Bot but a human error. The nomination was created on 20 December 2018 but was denied {{FPD}} and removed. When renominating it Dmottl only "revived" the old nomination, which was a mistake and shouldn't have been done. That is why the Bot thought is was high time to close it. When you make a re-nomination you must always use the "/2" ending. Just like you, Lucas did on Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Exploding E match collage.jpg/2. Btw, both of you should have disclosed that the photos were re-nominations. That would have explained things. --Cart (talk) 13:43, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I'm sure the Bot guy didn't see the message anyway. We haven't heard from him in a long while and there are many things that are wrong with the Bot. We have to manage as well as we can until some new programmer steps up and take charge of the Bots here. --Cart (talk) 18:19, 14 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help[edit]

Lucas,

I have seen your comment but I tired making it as 'set' but it did not work, would you be able to help me making it as set or merge it as set ? Mydreamsparrow (talk) 19:16, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Currently I reside with Colin's comment that your three images are not really suitable as a set nomination. Please also consider his other comment about having downscaled the images. – Lucas 15:01, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nachfrage zu Fotoqualität[edit]

Hallo Lucasbosch!
