User talk:Let'sUploadNow
Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

File:Simon Ekpa.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

The image which I uploaded is free of copyright[edit]
The image of Simon Ekpa is for general use and requires no attribution. UniBrill01 (talk) 18:59, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- Where did you get that information? If you are in contact with the copyright holder (usually the photographer), you can tell them about Commons:Licensing and Commons:Volunteer Response Team. It's bureaucratic, but for legal reasons, both Commons and WP are very careful about copyright. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:31, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
- I stand to disagree with you. The image is for public use. I saw it in his Twitter account @simon_ekpa. Simon Ekpa is a public figure. UniBrill01 (talk) 17:42, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
- That someone puts something on Twitter does not mean it's free for other's use, it means you can look at it on Twitter. Feel free to get other advice at Commons:Help desk. You can upload pictures you have taken yourself, so can others. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 18:00, 14 June 2023 (UTC)
- Look at the image in public domain. It's copyright free. Many other websites and news media are using it. I don't see any reason you are declining it here. See this link and the image used on it. Image UniBrill01 (talk) 12:30, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
- That you can see an image on several websites does not mean it's "public domain", see Help:Public domain and, if you're interested, the WP-article on the subject. Online =/= public domain. Other websites will do what they do, they have their own rules (maybe). On Commons and WP, you will follow the rules there or be blocked, sooner or later.
- I'll give you an example per Commons:Licensing#Well-known_licenses. The org who uploaded this pic [1] marked it "CC Public Domain Mark 1.0", which can be seen below the pic. They can do that because it's their image. That means Commons is ok with hosting that image, and does. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:57, 16 June 2023 (UTC)
