Utility poles/power lines

Give that we have a Category:Wooden utility poles in Seattle it seems kind of wrong to take images that are in Category:Utility poles and that are in Seattle, and remove Category:Utility poles, not add Category:Wooden utility poles in Seattle, and add Category:Historical images of power lines even where the power lines aren't even visible because of blowout in an overexposed photo. - Jmabel ! talk 01:38, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

Certainly, something does not work here, but I don't think it will be solved by renaming. The main problem is that of the adjective "floating": virtually all of the buildings in Tonle Sap are not floating, but firmly supported on the ground by wooden poles (they're actually palafittes /stilts). But this concerns not only Tonle Sap or Cambodia as a whole but to the full category of " Floating villages".
I could rename the category "Settlements in Tonle Sap" if someone reviews the categories to which the concept of "floating" belongs (which includes the category "Houseboats in Cambodia"). If not, I'd be lying about the type of building.

@Olga Ernst: I have removed it because the image doesn't contain guano, despite the name of the island. Not any bird feces are guano. It must be in large quantities and susceptible to industrial exploitation as fertilizer:

Guano is A natural manure composed chiefly of the excrement of sea birds, found especially on islands near the Peruvian coast. 2|any similar substance, as an artificial fertilizer made from fish.

Hi again LBM1948, have a look at Bird Island (Namibia). And also Walvis Bay Guano Platform. I have been on that platform when I was a child ... this is definitely Guano they are collecting from that platform ;-) Regards --Olga Ernst (talk) 21:58, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

O.K. I know. Such artificial islands were used in the past for collecting guano. So, the most suitable place is Category:Guano industry. In this category there are historical images of the collection of guano and current photos of structures related to such extraction. But it would be right to explain in the photo description the same explanation that you have told me, so that everyone understands it.
It was a good idea, because on both continents there are similar conditions: a cold stream going northwards, generating deserts on land and a great wealth of fish on the sea... used by seabirds.

Yes, I was in Namibia in 2006, but my highlight at Walvis Bay was the saltworks.There is still some time to upload the photos there: I am now uploading those of the year 1981...

My cousin answered and told me, that guano is still harvested from Walvis Bay, and also from Mile 4 (Saltpan) and from Cape Cross : Mile 4 Cape Cross By the way, I was born in Swakopmund :-) I love Namibia and would have been there in 2020 for a 2 week trip with a 4 x 4. Buenas tardes LBM1948. Antes de nada, quería darte las gracias por el fondo fotográfico que has proporcionado sobre el ferrocarril de Riotinto, temática que estoy trabajando. Me está viniendo muy bien, la verdad. Dicho lo cual, quería saber si durante tu visita a la cuenca minera, al museo minero y al complejo de Zarandas-Naya llegaste a fotografiar otras máquinas. Pues de nada; para eso estamos.
Todo lo que hice en relación con el F.C. de las minas de Riotinto etá en Category:Rio Tinto Mines railway y sus diferentes subcategories; unas pocas en Category:Museo Minero de Riotinto. La 14 estaba ahí por casualidad (en talleres) y la saqué desde el tren turístico. Acercarse hasta allí a pie no entraba en mis planes; mi objetivo principal era el río. Lo siento

"Irons and badges of wild cattle" isn't really a subject. If anything it should go in some kind of category related to sports teams or something. There isn't really a good category for bulls or bull riding teams at the moment though or even teams in general for that matter. So, I think it's better to just put it in the main category until there is. Plus, categories should be in English anyway. It was actually something I was planning on doing at some point myself if no one else does, but it doesn't need to be in the subject category in the meantime. So I'd appreciate it if you either reverted yourself or put it in a better category if you can find one. --Adamant1 (talk) 12:05, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

La Carrasqueta

¡Hola! Estamos preparando unos wikitakes sobre lugares relacionados con Enric Valor, escritor nacido en Castalla y que se movió mucho en la zona norte de la provincia de Alicante y sur de la de Valencia. La verdad es que somos malos fotógrafos y los temas a veces son muy complejos. En concreto buscamos fotos de la Sierra de la Carrasqueta más allá del propio puerto de montaña. He visto que subiste buenas imágenes del puerto en sí y pensaba que quizás tengas algo por ahí de la sierra. Sé que también buscaremos de otras sierras de la zona, pero de momento es para hacernos una idea de cómo retratar semejante cosa. Nuestros experimentos con la Perenxisa Category:Serra Perenxisa no sé si dan más miedo o vergüenza. Gracias! B25es (talk) 08:11, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
