Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries), or put the images directly into a category, or do both. Which of those possibilities is preferred is however a matter of debate, see here.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now, see Commons:Really unused. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. -- Duesentrieb 26 June 2005 13:04 (UTC)

LCAC[edit]

Please provide a link to the site where you got Image:LCAC.JPG. Also, more information on what the image depicts would be appreciated. Thanks, dbenbenn | talk 26 June 2005 16:53 (UTC)

Indications of use[edit]

Thank you both for your comments. I have provided some further information on the source and content of some of my pictures. At this opportunity I have noticed that there is no indication of the use of these pictures in the German wikipedia. So they are in fact not unused, but the list "what links here" is empty. Is there any solution to this problem?--KuK 13:54, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please add your images to appropriative pages and/or categories where other users could easily find them. --EugeneZelenko 14:53, 28 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tsumeb-Bilder[edit]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Selfportraits[edit]

In fact, after creating the category when I thought the portraits were 4 overall, when I saw they where actually dozens I realizied it was impossible he had selportrayed himself in so many situations, therefore I already asked to change the name into "Portraits and selfportraits": http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User_talk:CommonsDelinker/commands

However, the problem is another one. The point is that from a formal point of view, if he owned the negatives, and bequeathed them to the Archive, then he is formally to be considered the author (for unsigned images by unknown author, the owner of the negatives is to be considered the author), otherwise, these images should be deleted for copyright problems (we don't know who the photographer is, and Commons only accepts images free from ANY rights).

The images from the German Archive will create a lot of copyright problems. I am exhamining Italy, and there are scores and scores of images that were clearly added in a period when a 20-year copyright period was the norm for non-artistic images, however, meanwhile the copyright has been revived and stretched to 70 years after the death of the photographer. Therefore, many, if not most, of these images, do not meet the criteria for WikiCommons.

The only images that should not create problems, paradoxically, are the Nazi propaganda ones. The copyright is owned by the German State, as a War booty, and if the State archive who owns them donated them, then the copyright holder legitimally donated them. Fullstop. But an image such as this File:Bundesarchiv N 1603 Bild-362, Erich Stoll, Charly Chaplin-Darsteller, Horst Grund.jpg should be deleted. It is positive that it has not fallen into the PD. Not to mention an image such as this: File:Bundesarchiv Bild 146-1977-160-12, Italienische Soldaten ergeben sich.jpg: it is highly unlikely that a German photographer was atop of the hill, amidst the British troops, to shoot images to send to Nazi Germany. This is patently a British image, reused for anti-Italian propaganda by the nazi after the Armistice. A Crowm copyright could exist on this image. Which should therefore go. Helas, since it is important, from a historical point of view.

Since we are at it, I would appreciate help in categorizing these images by photographer. You miught ghave, or not, noticed I started the job. Most photographers are only listed by their surname, we should find out their name and death date. In order to delete all the copyright violations. best wishes. --User:G.dallorto (talk) 15:29, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Quellenangaben deiner Uploads[edit]

Hallo!

Was anderes: Kann ich hierbei ([1], [2]) helfen? --High Contrast (talk) 16:36, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--KuK (talk) 09:51, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Westland Aircraft[edit]

Thank you for your comments on my talk page. However, placing an unnecessary subjective sort key onto only some sub-categories is illogical, and IMHO totally without merit. In most cases, it is best to allow the natural sort order to take precedence, and therefore only apply a sort key to special cases.PeterWD (talk) 19:29, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your answer. When I looked into the Westland category I found nearly all aircraft under "W" for Westland. It is much easier to have an immediate overview if a Lynx can be found under "L" and so on. To my opinion, and I guess to the opinion of the majority of us wikipedians, this is what the sort key is for. So, even if you have a different feeling or taste please accept the common sense. --KuK (talk) 20:25, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Your 'common sense' is illogical. In Wikimedia, the Westland Lynx is known as Westland Lynx; your wish to force it into L for Lynx is your own personal and subjective perspective, not common sense. I believe that you should step back and look at the world in a wider, logical view.PeterWD (talk) 20:53, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think KuK has a valid point. See for instance at Category:Renault automobiles. HenkvD (talk) 09:49, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this excellent example how it shoud look like! --KuK (talk) 09:01, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Loves Monuments 2014 startet in Kürze[edit]

Hallo KuK,

Category:Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support[edit]

Oki doki, erledigt. Gruß --Ein Dahmer (talk) 16:53, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
