Bahman Ghorashi, Provost and Vice President for Tennessee Technological University[edit]

Bahman Ghorashi is a professor and executive administrator. He is the current provost and vice president for academic affairs at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee. He has held his current position as provost since July 1, 2013 and became the university’s fifth provost.

Ghorashi previously served as Executive Director of Fenn Academy and Fenn Research and Development Institute from 2009-2013 at Cleveland State University (CSU). He has served as Dean for the College of Engineering, CSU, 2006-2011, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, College of Engineering, CSU, Director of Fenn Academy, November 2005-November 2009, Interim Chairman, Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, CSU, 2005, Director, Doctor of Engineering Program, CSU, 2004-2007, Chairman, Center for Diagnostics, Imaging and Visualization, Ohio Aerospace Institute, 1993-1998, Assistant Dean of Research, College of Engineering, CSU, 1991-1993, and lastly the University Representative, Ohio Aerospace Institute, CSU, coordinating the interactions with a consortium of nine universities, industries, and research laboratories in 1989-1993.

Ghorashi studied at Wayne State University where he received his B.S in Chemical Engineering in 1973. He received a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at Ohio State University in 1975 and received a PhD from the same school in 1980. He also holds a Management and Leadership in Education (MLE) Certificate from Harvard University, Graduate School of Education and holds a Language Certificate from Michigan State University.

Ghorashi wrote a book entitled How to Become an Exceptionally Successful Young Person- A Guide to Early Planning and A Roadmap to Success in 2003. His book was reviewed and rated number 6 in the category of “Books for the Smart and Successful Woman” by Gwen Jimmere in the list of “must-reads for success at anything” in 2009. Along with his book that was highly rated, he has authored and coauthored approximately 80 publications and books and has completed almost 60 technical presentations in his field.

Ghorashi has received numerous awards and recognitions. A few of them include a Certificate of Commendation from the Ohio House of Representatives, the 112th General Assembly of Ohio (1978), The National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the American Society for Engineering Education Certificate of Recognition for research contributions (1987), Recognition by the President of Ohio Aerospace Institute as one of the key participants in the creation of OAI (1994), NASA and the American Society for Engineering Education Certification of Recognition for research contributions (1988), Faculty Research Award (2003), Resolution No. (03-55) by the Board of Trustees of Cleveland State University (2003), Cleveland State University (CSU) Administrative Award (2006), Fenn College of Engineering Recognition plaque for achievements as Dean (2011), Certificate of Appreciation for Excellent Service, Participation and Leadership on the Cleveland Engineering Society Board of Directors (2011).
