Image deletion warning Image:International brigade memorial.01.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.
In all cases, please do not take the deletion request personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Basler?[edit]

I noticed that you recatted my NTPS Turbodak image. Are you sure this is correct? Where did you get your information? Keep in mind that there's more than once company offering turbo conversions for the -3. This particular conversion was done in South Africa, not in the U.S., and my sources say that this was done "in house" by their military there. Akradecki 00:30, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe I've been rash, I'll recat until I can be sure one way or the other.KTo288 09:53, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
NP. I went and dug out the newspaper article ("NTPS takes deivery of flying classroom", Aerotech News and Review, February 14, 2003) which says the aircraft "was modified by the South African Air Force into a C-47PT, equipped with two modern-day Pratt & Whitny Canada PT-6A-65 engines...." A COI-disclaimer, however...I was the author of the newspaper article, and my source of info was a retired SAAF colonel who was part of the ferry crew that flew the plane from Cape Town to Mojave. Akradecki 03:44, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Your source is a lot better than my own assuming that all conversions are Baslers.KTo288 09:06, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome, sure I'll try and help fill in the blanks for you, however be warned I'm becoming increasingly lost with the latest digital cameras, and some of what I know, and think I know maybe hopelessly outdated. KTo288 22:39, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Categories are in English[edit]

Hi there KTo288,

I had to revert your edits to Category:Dutch East India Company. Please note Commons:Language policy for further help, which says that categories are in English, articles in native tongue. Gryffindor 08:02, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I was being a bit lazy, since it was easier to just move two items to the previously existing VOC category than to move all the VOC items to the new one.KTo288 08:39, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not spam, side effect[edit]

The intention was not to spam all of these categories at all. The gallery page was automatically generated by Commonist, and yes, it requires cleanup, because the categories are only supposed to go on the individual image pages, not on the gallery itself. I'll have to remove these shortly by adding a new parameter to the template and activating it on the gallery page, as was done with Commons:Wikipedia Takes Manhattan/Gallery from last April. Please bear with me if this takes a little while to get through them all. Thanks.--Pharos (talk) 12:14, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess so. That one actually was intended as spam :) [part of my secret scheme to encourage events like this around the world] but you know, it's not really necessary, and I didn't really plan on recreating it for the current event. BTW, I've already cleaned the categories off of the gallery page.--Pharos (talk) 20:13, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, for fixing the side effects as you call them. I see you are an administrator on en:wiki. What would your administrative action be if a group of contributors were to begin categorising articles with the "category:articles improved by such and such a group", all done with the the best possible intent, that of publicising a project to improve articles. Would you see such spam as acceptable, what if multiple groups wished to publicise their pet projects this way. KTo288 (talk) 21:31, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking more along the lines of w:Category:Wikipedia articles as assignments, but yeah I see your point, and have added hidden cat now. I was especially glad to do so because I've just figured out a way to easily create these cats (again hidden) for the current event, and they will be useful when we starting posting these in the relevant Wikipedia articles. Thanks for your input; you can see some of our broader ideas in development at Commons:Photo scavenger hunts.--Pharos (talk) 16:26, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your enthusiasm and what seems a fun idea. KTo288 (talk) 09:25, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Thanks for editing all of those manuscript images... I had been looking at them and had no idea how to rename :). There are a few you could help with Category:Incomplete media renaming requests here as well if you want... and apologies for a late realisation that you were a trusted user! Mention it on your userpage! -- Deadstar (msg) 12:13, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No need for thanks, it was both fun and informative, sure I'll have a look at the incomplete media renaming requests. As to the trusted user, it seems to come and go and I never asked for it, I only realised that sometimes I'm a trusted user when having a look at some files I put a rename request in for and found that the bot had moved images as being approved by me.KTo288 (talk) 17:56, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
