First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Tungkol sa estatwa[edit]

JustinLRT, kailang itinayo ang estatwa na ito? At sino ang gumawa (sculptor) nito, kung may info man? Dahil wala tayong freedom of panorama, di puwedeng ilisensiya ng malayang Creative Commons license ang anumang retrato ng mga monumento, estatwa, miyural, at mga gusali (arkitektura) rito na bago (1970s–kasalukuyan). Copyrighted ang mga iyan at kailangan pa ng licensing permission mula sa mga nagdisenyo ng mga ito. Bagamat nakabinbin sa Kongreso natin ang mga panukalang batas na may probisyong freedom of panorama (tingnan ang meta:Pilipinas Panorama Community/Freedom of Panorama#Recent developments) na nakikitang sagot sa matagal nang problema ng Filipino Wikipedians hinggil sa no-FOP issue, hangga't wala pang FOP sa bansa natin, para lang sa private o personal uses ang mga larawan ng mga monumento o gusali na nasa copyright pa rin ng mga nagdisenyo ng mga ito (architects, sculptors, o muralists). @JustinLRT: regarding the first concern, the photos there are likely to be checked individually, as some or several of those may show sculptures that are in public domain: those erected in public before 1972 and/or those whose sculptors have died for more than 50 years (relevant tag: {{PD-Philippines-FoP work}}). Photos of recent sculptures are likely to be submitted to deletion requests. Many photos have been deleted in the past, you can go to Category:Philippine FOP cases/deleted and see the deletion requests for yourself. (And it's FOP, not "FOD".)
Regarding your second concern, what do you mean again? I cannot comprehend your second question.
You still haven't addressed my question, which is when was that statue in your school unveiled or installed, and (if there is info) who was its sculptor and is he/she dead for more than 50 years? JWilz12345 (Talk|Contrib's.) 09:00, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
For the category, I've started two nominations for two photos there: Commons:Deletion requests/File:J1142TaalBocaueBulacanfvf 08.JPG and Commons:Deletion requests/File:Damconradojf.JPG. Other users are free to license review the statues hosted on that category. Lately A1Cafel (talk · contribs) has made deletion requests to buildings and monuments of countries with no FOP or no commercial FOP (like Ukraine, France, and Latvia), so they may help in making license review to photos of statues in that category.
