weiß nicht ob die Löschaktion wirklich hilfreich ist. da sind etliche Kategorien bei, die wir grade mit den tausenden neuen Natur-Bildern (WLE Deutschland) füllen. und fast alle der gelöschten Kategorien in diesem Themenbereich waren schon mit Beschreibungen vesehen und va. waren sie einheitlich und schon korrekt kategoriesiert. Da kann man sich nur noch ungläubig an den Kopf fassen! Ausgerechnet mitten im groß beworbenen laufenden Fotowettbewerb sabotiert das Commons-Personal dessen mühsam erstelltes Kategoriegerüst. Bitte stelle die gelöschten Schutzgebietskategorien umgehend wieder her. Files from ukrainian police body-cameras

Hi. You nominated for deleting files from ukrainian police body-cameras, but if you read the template that describes the licensing status of these files, there is stated that they are in the public domain. This is confirmed by the letter of the National Police of Ukraine, which indicates that these files are not subject to copyright, because this videos automatically recorded camera that is fixed on the body. These works are not the result of creative work, and therefore under the law of Ukraine are in the public domain. Hmmm, well they are uploaded to youtube with standard youtube license, which is not compatible with commons rules. If they are indeed public domain you should modify the corresponing template that its using someting like {{PD-Layout}}. Hello. I am confused about how to correctly license/set free into the public domain this image. I took the picture, myself, and have no problem with it being in the public domain.

Also, I uploaded two album covers on behalf of the band. The artwork is owned by the band, not a record company, and they wanted them uploaded. Do I need to have someone from the band email Wikipedia to corroborate that?

Hi, Jopezmusic. You now added 3 times {{PD-self}} to the image description field, which is not what we expect. If you took the photo yourself in the source line you should enter {{Own}}. In the autor line you should enter your user or real name (what ever you prever). I will mark the image as "so source" shortly. The other 2 images are deleted because of copyright violation. Most album cover uploaded to commons are just copied from the web, so we assume a copyright violation in such cases. If the copyright holder off the cover(s) likes to publish it under a free license he has to sent an email to the commons support team as documented on Commons:OTRS. Once you know the mail has been sent you may reupload the image(s) but this time please use the template {{OTRS pending}} on the file description page. This will indicate that such a release is ongoing and normaly prevent the deletion for several months or until the process will be decided as valid or invalid. regards. --JuTa 18:18, 8 June 2016 (UTC)

{{MenByName}} und {{Wbyname}}

Hallo JuTa, es geht um diesen Revert. Gibt es irgendeinen Konsens, diese Vorlage {{MenByName}} und analog auch {{Wbyname}} einzusetzen? Beide sind relativ frisch, und ich kann nur eine kurze Diskussion finden, wo vor allem die Probleme mit dem Konzept der default-Sortierung per Vorlage zum Vorschein kommen. Dazu ist die Benennung zwischen Männer- und Frauenvariante schief, es existiert keine Dokumentation, und viele der automatisch gesetzten Vornamenskategorien existieren ebenfalls nicht. Dazu gibts natürlich große Probleme mit Sonderzeichen in Namen. Die versteckten Kategorien Category:People by name und Category:Men by name wollte ich später für den vom Revert betroffenen und viele andere Artikel wieder einsetzen, aber es geht eben um eine größere Zahl von Artikeln und da ist systematisches Abarbeiten eins nach dem anderen die effektivste Methode. Nun, über die Vorlagen bin ich mehr oder weniger zufällig gestolpert und fand sie sinnvoll. Da ich eh vorhatte möglichst alle falsch sortierten Personen zu finden und zu korregieren, habe ich angefangen diese Vorlagen zu nutzen. Die Vornamenskategorien erzeuge ich wo noch nicht exsitent, ebenso wie die manuell gesetzten Nachnamenskategorien. Der Vorschlag in der verlinkten Diskussion die Vorlagen zu substen klingt gut. Die Grundidee dahinter finde ich auch sinnvoll, denn ein kleiner Strauß von Kategorien gehört ja an alle Personenkategorien und das kann man damit bequem erledigen. Der Ansatz ist ja, in den Kategorieseiten sowas wie Personendaten zu haben und dann die daraus automatisch folgende Grundkategorisierung zu generieren. Da könnte man IMHO sogar mehr Angaben zu sammeln als nur Namen (z. B. Geburts- und Sterbejahr), und mit einem Parameter für das Geschlecht auch von zweien auf eine Vorlage reduzieren. So wie das zurzeit gemacht ist, halte ich das aber für im Allgemeinen unbrauchbar. Wenn das bei jemandem mit Umlaut im Vornamen genutzt wird, muss entweder der Sortierschlüssel falsch gesetzt werden oder die Vorlage setzt eine falsche Namenskategorie. Zur automatischen ASCII-isierung eines Namens in einen Sortkey haben wir meines Wissens keine Funktion, oder? Viele Grüße, MisterSynergy (talk) 13:36, 10 June 2016 (UTC)

EIne solche Funktion kenn ich nicht. Bei Vornamen mit Umlaut o.ä. hab ich bisher auch DEFAULTSORT verwendendet und die anderen Cats manuell gesetzt. Und mit dem zukünftigen substen sollten sich ja auch deine Bedenken behoben haben, oder? --JuTa 14:20, 10 June 2016 (UTC)

Instead, the Public Domain Mark is a tool that allows anyone to mark a work that they believe to be free of known copyright restrictions. However, it does not say why the image is in public domain and this part has to be added by the user. This template encourages the user to select an appropriate Commons public domain license template. Tja, beide "exclude-Eigenschaften" trafen hier nicht zu. Weder hast Du die Cat editiert noch beginnt sie mit Naturschutzgebiet - siehe hier. Ich lösche hier teilwiese täglich duzende bis hunderte leere Kategorien, und bisher hat sich außer Dir noch niemand beschwert. --JuTa 11:19, 13 June 2016 (UTC)

Aus dem Namen sollte eigentlich hervorgehen, dass es sich um einen Teil einer Systematik aus dem WLE-affinen Bereich handelt, ebenfalls in Baden-Württemberg. Die NSG-Kategorien dort hatte ich auch nicht angelegt, sondern der de.wp-Admin User:Lou.gruber. User:Blech, der die hier angesprochen Kat angelegt hatte, ist einer der Haupt-Mitarbeiter im WLE-Bereich der de.wp. Dass sich keiner beschwert, mag daran liegen, dass die Löschungen erst dann bemerkt werden wenn es schon zu spät ist (eine realistische Chance auf Einspruch gibt es nicht) oder auch daran, dass die so bedachten Mitarbeiter angesichts dieser Umstände die Hoffnung verlieren und einfach gehen. --Sitacuisses (talk) 22:56, 18 June 2016 (UTC)

In dem Fall sind es Landschaftsschutzgebiete nach Landkreisen, nicht mal einzelne Gebiete. Es ist sehr unwahrscheinlich, dass die Kategorien dauerhaft leer bleiben. Mich persönlich regt es nicht besonders auf, wenn sie gelöscht werden. Das Wiederanlegen ist allerdings lästig und dauert länger als ursprünglich beim Serien-Anlegen. Könnte man aus einer Wikipedia-Sprachversion verlinkte Kategorien nicht von Löschungen ausnehmen? --Blech (talk) 20:54, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

No I cant. But its in fact that there a bots arround searching for images without a license. They marking them as no license when the dont tanclude one of {{CC-Layout}} (not {{Cc-by-layout}} as noted before) or {{PD-Layout}} or some other basic license layout templates. So its a defacto rule that any valid license template has to use one of those layout templates. Otherwise all those images will get marked as no license again and again and again.... --JuTa 12:38, 19 June 2016 (UTC)

A little history here (long version can be found at Template_talk:Kremlin.ru#License_update). In the past {{Kremlin.ru}}, {{Premier.gov.ru}} and {{Government.ru}} were a source templates that also added CC-by-3.0. After Russian government switched to CC-by-4.0 there were some discussions of what to do to the template, which had to show one thing for photographs taken before April 8, 2015, and something else for photographs taken after, with a strong probability that in the future there might be more changes. Several solutions were discussed but the most logical was to make those templates into source templates and add proper cc templates directly to the files. I changed all existing files, and as a person often monitoring Category:New uploads without a license I would occasionally "fix" files with {{Kremlin.ru}} only and add cc license. I would usually also write the uploader about the need to add cc template at the upload time. --Jarekt (talk) 02:13, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

• @Jarekt: Thank you for your response. At this time the template {{Kremlin.ru}} contains valid references to all licenses. As stated above, additional templates are needed for the convenience of bots. For humans they duplicate text of main template only. Perhaps we have to do as advised JuTa - to сhange the parent layout of {{Kremlin.ru}} to {{CC-Layout}}? sasha, I think you are trying to fix a problem which is not a problem, as Template:Kremlin.ru explains (unfortunately only in English) all you need to do is to just add {{kremlin.ru}}{{cc-by-4.0|[http://kremlin.ru kremlin.ru]}} as a license template to all the new uploads. Adding license templates like {{Cc-by-4.0}} to the files on Commons is not the requirements "for the convenience of bots". license templates are more likely to be translated into large number of of languages than single source templates like {{Kremlin.ru}}, also small custom license templates tend to get changed, or broken without people noticing, leaving files with incorrect or missing license templates, and without any change history in the individual files. Adding {{Cc-by-4.0}} directly to the file means that to remove the license someone will have to change the file itself, which will leave a mark in the file history and will be easy to reverse. --Jarekt (talk) 11:51, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Sometimes there is a good reason for an empty category

I see you deleted Category:Built in Washington (state) in 1846 because it was empty. I think that sometimes when there is a pattern of "by year" categories, the fact that there is nothing in one particular year is probably not a good reason for deletion. Right now, we don't have a building identified as being built that particular year in Washington, but note that Category:Built in Washington (state) in 1847 and Category:Built in Washington (state) in 1848 are non-empty. I believe that keeping categories like this, which form part of a pattern of parallel categories, greatly increases the chance that if an image of such a building is uploaded, it will be correctly categorized. Then we differ in our opinion about that. Empty cats distubing more than they create benefit. They falsely suggesting content, where there is none. And what is the difference between the now deleted Category:Built in Washington (state) in 1846 and i.e. the newer created Category:Built in Washington (state) in 1845? If we wanna create a built cat for every year for every possible geogafic entity there would be (guessed) more than 90% of them empty. The 1840s are the first decade when European settlers would have built anything in Washington, and two of those years have content. Nicht nur Du sondern jeder weltweit benötigt das Recht die Bilder zu jedwedem zu benutzen. Die Bilder müssen unter einer freien Lizenz veröffentlicht werden, die eben dies jedem erlaubt - siehe Commons:Licensing und Commons:Copyright tags. Und die Genemigung muss über das sog. OTRS vom Urheberechtsinhaber bestätigt werden, er muss also eine Mail an das Commons-Support-Team schreiben - siehe Commons:OTRS bzw. Commons:OTRS/de. Sobald Du weisst dass diese Mail verschickt wurde, setzt Du besser die Vorlage {{OTRS pending}} - am besten per {{subst:OP}}. Hallo Calvin Kramer, zunächst fehlt eine Lizenz-Vorlage auf den Bildbeschreibungseiten - eine lange Liste von möglichen Lizenzen findest Du unter Commons:Copyright tags. Empfohlen wird {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}}. Das zweite Problem ist dass Du die Bilder nicht selbst erstellt hast und Du somit auch kein Recht besitzt eine Lizenz für diese zu vergeben. Du schreibst auf den Bildbeschreibungsseiten: Ich habe vom Unternehmen die Erlaubnis. Das reicht aber leider nicht. Jeder weltweit muss die Erlaubnis haben die Bilder für jeden Zweck zu verwenden. Der Rechteinhaber - hier wohl ein Verteter der Firma Huetthaler - müsste eine Mail an das Commons-Support-Team schreiben und die Bilder unter einer ihm gemehmen freien Lizenz freigeben. Beschrieben ist das Ganze auf Commons:OTRS bzw. Commons:OTRS/de. Sobald Du weisst das eine solche Mail verschickt wurde setzt Du besser die Vorlage {{OTRS pending}} auf die Bildbeschreibungsseite, sofern dann auch eine Lizenzvorlage verwendet wird, verhindert dies die Löschung für mehrere Wochen oder bis der Fall als OK oder nicht OK entschieden wurde. Hallo JuTA, ich habe von dir eine Nachricht bekommen bzgl. der Lizenz für mein hochgeladenes Bild. Ich denke das jetzige sollte passen, den ursprünglichen Autor zu finden dürfte unmöglich sein. Hallo. Als "normales" Photo besitzt es auf jeden Fall die Schöpfungshhe um urheberrechtlich geschützt zu sein. Dass bei einer Quelle kein Urheber steht, bedetutet nicht dass es nicht geschützt wäre. Hmm, auf den ersten Blick eher unwahrscheinlich dass das Bild von Hochlader selbst geschossen wurde. Aber verglichen mit den anderen Bildern des Hochladers nicht unwahrscheinlicher als diese. Es wäre schön, wenn derjenige, der ein Bild hochlädt vor einer Löschung (z.B. per email oder Diskussionsseite) auf eine bevorstehende Löschung hingewiesen würde. Solltet Ihr die email nocheinmal benötigen, könnte ich diese gerne erneut zusenden.

About the license: There are 2 rights involved. 1) the rights of the photogafer (if its you ou can freely choose one the the licenses listed in Commons:Copyright tags - {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}} is recomanded. but 2) the rights of the creator of the depicted drawing/crest. You should try to find out who this is and ask him if he is willing to publish it under a free license. If he agrees he has to send a mail to the commons support team as documented on Commons:OTRS. They dont have to explicitly say so. Everything is per default proteced by copyright except otherwise explicity stated. The band would need to send an email to the commons support team releasing the image for everbody in the world under a free license of their choice ({{Cc-by-sa-4.0}} is recommanded). I'm not sure that's actually correct. My understanding is that album artwork in the context of an album's Wikipedia page qualifies as fair use of non-free material. The vast majority of album artwork on Wikipedia is not personally vetted and explicitly approved by the bands. Is this a recent change to the site's policy?

Hi, {{Insignia}} is not a license template. In some counties coat of arms of cities etc. are in public domain in most counties not. According Commons:Coats of arms Montenegro seems to not public domain. Hallo JuTa,

leider bin ich nicht der "Copyright Holder" von diesem Bild, es ist ein Bildschirmfoto (Screenshot) von einer DVD mit dem Film "Du rififi chez les femmes" und der Herausgeber ist L.C.J Éditions & Productions in Frankreich. Ich brauche das Foto für einen Beitag in der niederländische Wikipedia über Trio Wolters. Ich habe bis jetzt folgendes gemacht: 1. der Herausgeber der DVD eine Email geschickt mit der Bitte um eine Erlaubnis. Dazu habe ich eine Schablone von Wikimedia Commons als Vorbild genommen. 2. der Screenshot hochgeladen mit dem Hinweis "OTRS pending". Leider bin ich mit dem OTRS-System überhaupt nicht vertraut und habe wahrscheinlich das Foto auch zu früh hochgeladen. Eine Antwort von L.C.J Éditions & Productions habe ich nämlich noch nicht. Könnte ich hier vielleicht Hilfe bekommen? Wie zum Beispiel bekommt man ein OTRS-Ticket und muss ich eine Kopie meiner Mail an L.C.J Éditions & Productions auch an Wikimedia Commons schicken? --Wilrooij (talk) 12:50, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Hallo. Ja, da warst Du etwas voreilig. Du hättest besser gewartet bis Du weisst dass der Herausgeber auch eine Freigabe (und unter welcher Lizenz) erteilt oder nicht. Im Moment fehlt dort jegliche Lizenzvorlage. Und solche Bilder werden nach einer Woche gelöscht. Und nur der Urheberrechtsinhaber kann eine solche Lizenz vergeben. Falls eine Feigabe erfolgt kann das Bild aber später jederzeit wiederhergestellt werden. Ich halte es übrigens für eher unwahrscheinlich dass eine solche Freigabe erfolgen wird, denn 1) sind kommerzielle Firmen sehr selten dazu bereit und 2) ist es unwahrscheinlich dass der Herrausgeber Urheberrechtinhaber, das wäre eher der Regissuer des Films. PS: Stammt das Bild wirklich auch dem Jahr 2012? Es sieht deutlich älter aus. --JuTa 13:02, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Hallo JuTa, danke, für die schnelle Antwort. Nein, der Film ist in 1958 aufgenommen worden und in 1959 in den Kinos erschienen. Die DVD ist allerdings erst in 2012 erschienen und das Bildschirmfoto habe ich von dieser DVD genommen. Der Regisseur des Films zu erreichen ist nach so langer Zeit wahrscheinlich unmöglich. Das Trio ist mir bekannt, sie würden die Erlaubnis wahrscheinlich erteilen, aber ich nehme an, dass sie die Rechte an dem Ersteller des Films abgetreten haben. --Wilrooij (talk) 13:27, 7 August 2016 (UTC)

Wenn sich nichts ändert wird das Bild nach einer Woche gelöscht. Du könnstest versuchen in Erfahrung zu bringen ob und unter welcher Lizenz die Firma bereit ist das Bild zu veröffentlichen und den entsprechenden Lizenzbaustein dann auf die Bildbeschreibungsseite zu setzen. ({{Cc-by-sa-4.0}} ist empfohlen, es gibt aber noch viel mehr). Falls das Bild gelöscht wird, die Feigabe aber doch abgeschickt wurde und valide ist, wird das Bild dann wiederhergestellt werden. Hallo JuTa, könntest du mir einen Gefallen tun und (falls mal Zeit ist) meine Kategorien ab und zu stichpunktartig checken? Da ich auf commons zwar schon Hunderte von Bildern hochgeladen habe, aber genauso wenig Ahnung vom hießigen Kat-System habe wie dem der WP:D, bin ich mir nicht sicher, ob das immer so passt, was ich da fabriziere. Heute z.B. Bilder vom TC Amberg hochgeladen und da gab es keine Kats. Da habe ich halt dann andere kopiert... Also das nur als kleine Bitte am Rande, wenn Dir mal eine Tenniskat über den Weg laufen sollte... Hi, falls ich zufällig mal drüber stolpere, gerne. Im aktuellen Fall: die Category:Sports in Amberg gibt es (noch) nicht. Ich hab es dshalb direkt in Category:Amberg umgehängt. Alternativ könntest Du die Sports-Cat erzeugen und vorher schauen wo solche Cats typischerweise eingeordnet sind. Gruß --JuTa 13:39, 8 August 2016 (UTC)

Just for your information: You deleted Category:Hengchun Township Office on request of a user. However, I re-created it, as the building in question is clearly labelled as "Hengchun Township Office" and giving up a specific category in favor for more superficial categories is in general not a good idea.
