Re:Copyright help regarding File:Tombstone of William Rogers, located in the old cemetery at Cane Ridge Meeting House near Paris, Kentucky.jpg

Hello, I wasn't sure whether or not you would get my response if I responded on my talk page (yes, I'm a newbie on Wikimedia Commons), so I decided to respond on yours: I edited the image's page by tagging it, referencing it, and removing the part which said that the image would be deleted seven days after its publication to Wiki. However, I'm not sure if I fixed the problem, as I added the reference without really knowing how--I just typed it in near the top of the page and said that it is the "Site which gives premission." Will that work, or is it to unprofessional? Here is the link to the image; please see it yourself: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Tombstone_of_William_Rogers,_located_in_the_old_cemetery_at_Cane_Ridge_Meeting_House_near_Paris,_Kentucky.jpg. Awaiting and thanking you in advance for your response, The Sackinator (talk) 21:02, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, it good that you contacted me here, because otherwise i would have missed it. I'm not sure if the "Permission" statement on the linked site is enough for a {{PD-author}}. I marked the image for a licnse review to get a second pair auf eyes ... regards. --JuTa 21:08, 14 July 2013 (UTC)
Okay, thank you. Hoping all goes well, The Sackinator (talk) 01:45, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
I switched the copyright tag to PD-link, as it seems more fitting.

Saludos Marcoantoniothomas (talk) 21:51, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, that might be, but you don't own the copyright of this logo. To release it under {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} some official representative of th company should sent an email to the commons support team - see COM:OTRS. But be aware that this will mean that anybody in the world can use it for any purpose as long the license term are fullfitted. regards. --JuTa 21:57, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi

Could you please put additional information on my file reflexboog.jpg

like: {{PD-self}}

so that it will not be deleted? Thanks AK--46.129.80.108 05:58, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, you should do that yourself. And please log in before oing it. regards. --JuTa 07:25, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, this picture 150px|this picture has more than 100 years made, so it is in public domain. Please do not delete. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.77.41.114 (talk • contribs) 2013-07-16T15:31:19‎ (UTC)

Hmm, do you know who E.Pirou is an when he lived and died? He must be died before 1943 to make th image Public Domain. regards. --JuTa 19:02, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

My uploads

Hi JuTa,

You left me a message here http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3AIpvariabile&diff=100142679&oldid=99575018 but I cannot get it. What do you miss? Here http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:FIAT_CMASA_MF.6.jpg for example it's mentioned the source (http://crimso.msk.ru/Site/Crafts/Craft32054.htm) and the license's tag i.e. PD-EU-no author disclosure --Ipvariabile (talk) 00:34, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I now removed the template {{Remove this line and insert a license instead}} on all the images. That was the reason wh I marked them as "no license" initially. But its questionable to assume all these fotos an plans had been published anonymously only because one webpage does not state their author. Some of the images have russian webpages as source. So its not even clear if the were made and/or published firstly in the (later) EU. I'm currently thinking about raising a regular deletion request for them. i will decide that later today. regards. --JuTa 19:13, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi JuTa,
There are many pictures as well from http://adl-luftfahrthistorik.de/dok/Heinkel_HE_6.pdf which for ysure is not Russian. Regarding FIAT_CMASA_MF.6 I wouldn't focus on the nationality of the website (which is Russian) as the pictures for sure are taken in Europe. In addition I was thinking to add to that picture the tag PD-Italia. What do you think? --Ipvariabile (talk) 09:20, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
Might be, but I doubt that the images has been published anonmously, but I cannot prove it. So i deecided not to investigate this case anymore. The PD-Italy case is questionable as well because the man depictied died 1998 which is less than 20 years ago, a prove or source that th image was taken more than 20 years ago would be good. regards. --JuTa 17:19, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
Regarding Lucio Lazzarino please see here http://www.dia.unipi.it/index.php?page=lucio-lazzarino-2. The professor retired in 1988 so the picture was taken at latest on 1988. --Ipvariabile (talk) 18:10, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

Paco Draque

Hi! I've seen that you have completed the dates of the file Ataque de Drake a Santo Domingo en 1585.jpg but I have put the banner of delete because I have uploaded the file as new version of the file uploaded by another user who has put the map of another battle with the title of that event. So, thanks anyway but you can use and share the file with the name File:Boazio-Sir Francis Drake in Santo Domingo.jpg. Have a nice day!--CarlosVdeHabsburgo (talk) 04:14, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

Anonyme Bilder?

Hallo!

Copyright status: File:Sublime text.png

  • You're right. But:

First look at http://en.wikipedia.org/Sublime_Text . There are the same logo, but it's not on commons. Next. On sublime text EULA (http://www.sublimetext.com/eula) NOTHING about logo license. I really did not want to upload this image, but its program logo. If commons rights doesn't accept this image license (But i really don't know which license this image have, nowhere written about that), just delete it. I understand and respect license rights and commons rights. Sorry for my bad english. MrDoctorWho (talk) 18:41, 18 July 2013 (UTC) mrDoctorWho

Hi, in the english wikipedia the image is usd under so called fair use, which is not possible on commons - compare Commons:Fair Use. regards --JuTa 18:58, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
So, is there any way to solve this problem except of removing image? MrDoctorWho (talk) 06:23, 20 July 2013 (UTC) mrDoctorWho
I don't see one, no. One might try to use {{PD-textlogo}} and {{Trademarked}}, but the 3D-character of the "logo" normaly exceeds the threshold of originalty. regards. --JuTa 12:26, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

In regards to a message left on my talkpage, please delete the aforementioned file. I did not realize that fair use logos, even with rationales were not allowed on Wikimedia Commons (I had planned to put the fair use template but it only came back with a 'file will be deleted' message, :P). Sorry for the upload of the copyrighted image; I will do my best to not upload any fair use images on Commons from now on. TheAustinMan (talk) 23:52, 19 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I've deleted it now. regards. --JuTa 12:28, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

The file in subject was deleted due to a permission issue. I've just sent an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org with the permission details (file provided by the composer Mariano Garau for his article on Wikipedia). Could you please restore the file? Max a.k.a. --Mcapozza (talk) 18:29, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, the template {{OTRS pending}} was there since 3. June. So I assume permission was sent out at that day. If you resent it today OTRS stuff will find and check it and restore the file if everything checks out OK. But please note: a permission for wikipedia only will be not enough. The file needs to be reuseable by anybody in the world for any purpose. regards --JuTa 19:19, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you for your message regarding Charlotte Slottsberg on my talk page. You are telling me that the file are badly cited, and are in danger of becoming deleted because if it. This would be a shame, so I shall explain! The file comes from this page: http://www.nad.riksarkivet.se/sbl/Presentation.aspx?id=6060 This is the Svenskt biografisk lexikon (Swedish Biographical Dictionary) and are a completely public domain, as far as I can understand. However, English not being my first language, I may not have understood exactly how to cite this properly. Therefore, the file could be deleted unnecessarily, which would be a great shame indeed. I am a little pressed for time right now, so I may not have the time to understand what to do. But, I would be sincerely grateful, if someone with knolwedge about how to do, such as yourself, could fix the problem, which i suppose may just be something very little and easy to fix. I hope this could be fixed! It would be a shame if the file wuld be deleted because of something like thas rather than because it truly deserv to be. Thank you--Aciram (talk) 12:13, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I've corrected the desvcription page now. The drawing should have made latest in 1800 assuming it was created during her livetime. This makes it suitable for template {{PD-old-100}}. regards. --JuTa 12:21, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Oh I see, it is a matter of when the image itself was made. Yes, on the image it says it was made by L. Granholm, which would be her husband Ludvig Granholm, so it would have been made in 1797-1800. Thanks! --Aciram (talk) 14:28, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Deleted informations

Hi JuTa, you have deleted some sources like File:US_Crude_Oil_Production_and_Imports.svg/source. Why? These pages contain important additional information for the charts. -- Con-struct (talk) 05:52, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, the reason was: there are no subpages in the file name space. So these pages were counting as file pages but without a file uploaded. There was nolink or other hint to them on the main file pages, so nobody was able to find them except people who knows there were there (probarbly only you). I put the source code info now onto the discussion pages of the images. See 1, 2, 3 and 4. Now other people are able to find that because the discussion pages are linked from the file pages. regards --JuTa 10:31, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi, thank you that the sources are available again. The main pages have a link under e.g. Code to generate SVG See: File:US_Crude_Oil_Production_and_Imports.svg/source. May be the action&edit query don't produce a link to …/source. -- Con-struct (talk) 14:24, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi JuTa, you have deleted again a subpage. But now the link is visible, see Pages that link to .... Or are subpages generally forbidden? -- Con-struct (talk) 14:49, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi, yes, in the file namespace there are no subpages configured an such pages appering frequently on error lists. I now modified the template {{SVG Chart/box}} that not the subpage .../source will be linked but the talk page. I hope thats now in our both sense. Thx and regards. --JuTa 18:16, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

This map appears to be from Northern China, the valley of the Blue River, Korea, a book first published in 1912 in London and Paris. The French author, Claudius Madrolle, was born in 1870, so he is deceased, but his year of death is unknown. I didn't upload the image and I don't care if it's deleted or not. I'm just relating info I've figured out about it. --Geniac (talk) 22:40, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi,thanks for the info. I updated the decription page accordingly and converted the problem tag to a regular deletion request as I'm not sure if a birthday in 1870 is enough to apply {{PD-old}} or similar. regards --JuTa 22:53, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi can you explain why this copyright does not qualify as old? More than 100 years old... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Greatpumkin (talk • contribs) 2013-07-22T19:17:23‎ (UTC)

Hi, {{PD-old}} means that the author must died before more than 70 year. A person born in 1870 would have been 73 years old in 1943 (70 years ago) and could have live another 10 or 20 years, which would make the image still it copyrighted. regards. --JuTa 19:22, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Why did you deleted it and why you lost it?

Yes a soldier's picture is dp.

"File:Joey Covington.jpg"

Dear JuTa: Can you please go to the page "Joey_Covington.jpg" for Joey Covington on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joey_Covington) and help the editors there (including myself) who don't know what they are doing to fix the upload file image of Covington so it does not get deleted. Lauren Taines is the owner of the photo. Her editor name is "Bandinusa." She has granted written permission to use it, but she nor anyone editing the page knows how to fix the issues on the image's page. Your help is truly appreciated. I've tried to help, but being an editor for merely a few months, and not knowing what to do, I'm probably making a bigger mess of the situation in my efforts. Thank you so very much. 301man (talk) 01:16, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, the written permission needs to be send to the commons support team - see commons:OTRS. Once this is done ou can replace the template {{No license}} with {{OTRS pending}} which will prevent deletion for about 30 days or until the case is solved. But please be avare: A permission granted to use (only) on wikipedia (as currently stated on file description File:Joey Covington.jpg) is not enough. The file has to be useable by anybody in the world for any purpose. regards. --JuTa 07:28, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
Thank you JuTa. I posted this information on the Talk page here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File_talk:Joey_Covington.jpg and hope the right person(s) see it and can fix it. Appreciate your help. 301man (talk) 08:12, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

File:Brandon Burlsworth Foundation logo.jpg

I sent this message to EugeneZelenko who also identified this file as being a copyright violation.

I would like to appeal the deletion of this images. While it is a copyrighted image, I believe it is fairly used in the entry on Brandon Burlsworth to provide identification of the Foundation. Additionally, I am working with the Foundation to maintain the entry. Are there additional details I can provide to substantiate fair use and/or copyright holder's permission? Brandonwise (talk) 17:58, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Commons does not accpt fair use but i.e. english wikipdia does. You may like to upload it to nglish wikipdia. Compare Commons:Fair use and en:Wikipedia:Fair use. regards. --JuTa 18:01, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

You also identified this file as being a copyright violation. When I uploaded the file, I believed it was public domain since I could not find any copyright information about it. Since then I have identified the owner of the web site on which I found the image -- HogNation.net. I sent an email requesting permission to use this image in the entry for Brandon Burlsworth. I will share my response as soon as it arrives. Brandonwise (talk) 18:28, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

could you please restore the following image?

Hi JuTa, you recently deleted the following image: File:Yosef Yekutieli the founder of the Macabiya games.jpg could you please restore it so i could check its copyright status? from a short google search i ran looking for this image i found one depicting a man and two children. Yosef Yekutieli was born 1897 and lived from 1909 untill his death 1982 in Israel. If this photo was taken in Israel from 1909 till 1962 it falls under "PD-Israel" license regardless of the photographer. Could you help me in restoring the image? I assume that a newbie added it to commons forgetting to add the correct license. Best Regards --kippi70 (talk) 22:31, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I undeleted the file and renewed the problem tag. Please apply the appropiate license within a week from now. regards. --JuTa 18:47, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi again and many, many thanks! the right license is indeed "PD-Israel". The image was submitted by the daughter which should be about 80 herself. I will try to contact her to find out when was the photo taken. Best Regards --kippi70 (talk) 19:32, 29 July 2013 (UTC)

User Flak155 contributions

Hi! Some time ago you've nominated for deletion a file uploaded by user Flak155. He had uploaded a number of images to use them in Russian Wikipedia. Now it seems that most of these uploads could be candidates for deletion because of incorrect license. For example, this image was taken from the article which is clearly copyrighted (© Сергей Бурдин 2007). This image is from some blog where it is shown without any mention of its license. Practically all files uploaded by Flak155 have the same problem. Could you check them? Molders13 (talk) 16:01, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Thx for this note, I marked them all as {{No permission}}. --JuTa 18:56, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Dimdim Mountain

Hi, JuTa. I showed you where I got this image from. But why do you think that I don't have sufficient information? Am I supposed to fill it in? Thanks! -Foleo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Foleo — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.229.239.155 (talk • contribs) 2013-07-30T20:37:21‎ (UTC)

Hi, I guess you are talking about File:Dimdim mountain.jpg. Well, the image is copied from an internet page with no indication of a free license. You applied no license template as well. If you are the copyright holder of this image please log in and apply a valid license template. {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommended. You should send a reliesing mail to the commons support team as well to confirm your authorship - see Commons:OTRS. regards. --JuTa 20:45, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Thanks JuTa, but how do you know how to tell people about the copyright status in the image you were saying? Like if there are all rights reserved or some rights? Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.229.239.155 (talk • contribs) 2013-07-30T20:53:50‎ (UTC)

If you are the "owner" of the source page http://babaknavaie.blogfa.com/post-111.aspx send an mail outof that domain and declare that you are the copyright holder an expamplte text for that ou find on COM:OTRS#Declaration of consent for all enquiries. After that you better put the template {{OTRS pending}} onto the image description page. This will prevent deletion for normaly 30 days or until the OTRS-case has been decided as valid or invalid. regards. (And please login) --JuTa 21:00, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

I never said I was the "owner", I just said I was the downloader, so how do I change the copyright status? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.229.239.155 (talk • contribs) 2013-07-30T21:04:46‎ (UTC)

Then you are not the copyright holder of the image and you cannot change its copright status. The only way I see that you try to find and contact the copyright holder and ask him if he is willing to release the image i.e. under {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} and then he has to send that mail as dscribed above to the commons support team. regards --JuTa 21:08, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

There is no license template applied on the description page - compare Commons:Licensing an Commons:Copyright tags. Edit the description page and add one. {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} is a recommended license. regards --JuTa 07:47, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi, as far as I can find images from airliners.net are not published under a free license but simply copyright protected. I.e. the source page for File:Garuda Indonesia A330-341.jpg http://www.airliners.net/photo/Garuda-Indonesia/Airbus-A330-341/2278173/L/&sid=3197213d050a3a9062c28f78a1e0fe23clearly states This photo is copyright protected and may not be used in any way without proper permission. This means you cannot copy it onto other webpages or similar like commons. I'm afraid, but I don't see a valid chance to keep these images. regards --JuTa 18:42, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
