Hello, Joan301009!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Ieps, Joan![edit]

Apa, salut! --Peprovira (Discussion) 18:42, 2010-11-1

Plantilla "User Catalan Countries"[edit]

Hola, Joan. He vist el teu map lingüístic i m'agradaria utilitzar-lo, però hi ha alguns errors als límits del gallec-portuguès i l'astur-lleonès. Aqui en tens més informació:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Linguistic_maps_of_Galicia

Seria possible que fessis una nova versió amb el gallec de la Terra Návia-Eu (Astúries), Bérzio (Lleó) i Portelas (Samora)?

Gràcies,

Susomoinhos (talk) 00:37, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moltes gràcies, Joan!
Abraçades!

Dear Joan301009,

Via Catalana[edit]

Hola!. --Jmarchn (talk) 05:55, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tamazgha picture[edit]

Hi

I saw that you modified the picture from the Wikipedia article Tamazgha ([1]) and removed some areas from the "Berber world" taking into account the non-Berber small populations (Tebu in southern Libya and Tabelbala in west Algeria). That makes some sense to some extent.

But would you do the same for this picture [2] from the Wikipedia article Arab world and remove the non-Arab areas (the historically non-Arab areas) from the map?

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Graphic Designer's Barnstar
Thanks for helping with the Iraq and Syria images. It was becoming a little to much for me to handle. I now have work, so I am much more inactive, and this is a tremendous thank you. —SPESH531Other 03:12, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Franja[edit]

Hi Joan301009! The Cinca Medio has never been part of the Franja. The Franja is the region inside Aragon where catalan is spoken. That's why I added the information saying: not being part of the Franja about the green-coloured municipalities. You can see it in all the wikipedias.

I also changed that about the patués, as it has sometimes been considered as part of the catalan language, sometimes as part of the aragonese language and sometimes as an independent one. I think it's much more neutral if we just say sometimes considered as catalan (or something similar).--Franxo (talk) 14:29, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

There has been discussion here about the Syrian war map: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Syrian_Kurdistan#Military_map_issues

There is consensus to have the Israeli occupied Golan Heights in white, can you edit it? --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 03:27, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Important notice[edit]

This is a deliberate attempt by Supreme to "hijack" the show by a sidelined discussion (which was never implemented) to supercede the wide consensus that Golan Heights should be colored striped on Syrian maps (see this conclusion) - it applies also in relevance to the Syrian and Iraqi war maps. There is a wide consensus that Israel is not directly involved in the Syrian and Iraqi wars wars and should not be listed among belligerents (neither as "belligerent" not anything else) or have a belligerent color in those war maps.Greyshark09 (talk) 20:28, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Joan301009, Please also notice that Supreme Deliciousness asked you to make the edits, because he fears to be banned from commons - see [3] discussion by Magog the Ogre, Supreme's previous attempts to edit the Syrian War maps [4] and the recent block of Supreme [5].Greyshark09 (talk) 00:02, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Joan, please refer to this discussion on the issue of adding Israel as belligerent on Syrian civil war maps.Greyshark09 (talk) 09:26, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Joan, please do not listen to what Greyshark is saying, you can clearly see the discussion at Wikipedia here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Syrian_Kurdistan#Military_map_issues and everyone agrees that the Israeli occupied part of Syria should be white and the text I added is exactly what everyone agreed on. Israel is not occupying "stripes" in Golan but the entire area, so that discussion is irrelevant to this one. Take a look at Greysharks userpage at Wikipedia where he has several pictures from Israel and he has also included two images from the Israeli-occupied Golan mixed in with those from Israel:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Greyshark09 His personal view is that "Golan is Israel" and he is trying to ad his view as a "fact" to Commons and Wikipedia. Greyshark is trying to manipulate Commons and Wikipedia to push a non neutral and pro-Israeli pov against the consensus reached. Do NOT listen to him. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 04:28, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No, my view is that Eastern Golan is de-facto and de-jure Syria (Quneitra Governorate), while Western Golan is de-facto controlled by Israel, and this is the community consensus. Not "everyone" agrees to add Israel as belligerent, on the contrary - see [6]; even in that phony discussion on Syrian Kurdistan article not everyone agrees. This is a clear attempt to game the system.Greyshark09 (talk) 09:26, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Pointing out that Israel is occupying part of Syria in a map specifically showing "Current military situation in Syria" is not adding Israel as a belligerent. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 13:13, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The file is clearly named "Syrian civil war.png" and not "Current military situation in Syria".Greyshark09 (talk) 15:12, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Doesn't matter, the image is presented in articles as "Current military situation in Syria." --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 15:21, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
