Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.

Moin Jewido, wenn in einer IMO-Kategorie diese Vorlage verwendet wird, dann ist die Kategorie automatisch in der Category:Ships by IMO number gelistet, es bedarf keiner zusätzlichen Kategorisierung (siehe z. B. Category:IMO 9320049). Beste Grüße --Ein Dahmer (talk) 12:16, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kategorie-Zuordnung

Hallo Jewido, wenn Du hier bei vielen Schiffsfotos die Kategorie "Built at (Werft XY)" hinzufügst, ist das schön! Aber warum verschiebst Du am laufenden Band die Zuordnung "Category:Ships built in JJJJ" von der Kategorie "Schiffname"-Seite zu der Kategorie "ENI"-Seite? Wo ist diese Zuordnung vereinbart??? Moin Rennboot, ich mische mich da mal ein. Wir sind uns doch darüber einig, dass ein Schiff nur einmal gebaut werden kann. Demzufolge müssen Bauwerft und Baujahr in eine gemeinsame Kategorie. Da Schiffe oft den Namen wechseln, ihre Schiffsnummer aber behalten, ist es sinnvoll, nur die IMO/ENI-Kategorie entsprechend zu kategorisieren. Leider hat man zu Beginn der Kategorisierung nicht so sehr darauf geachtet und aus diesem Grund existieren viele Überkategorisierungen. Ein kleiner Kreis von Benutzern räumt da jetzt auf, und Jewido gehört dankenswerterweise dazu. Gruß von der Küste --Ein Dahmer (talk) 13:41, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moin Rennboot, unser netter Kollege Ein Dahmer hat die Gründe für mein Vorgehen bereits treffend genannt. Die Verschiebung der Kategorien Baujahr und Bauwerft in die jeweils übergeordnete ENI-Kategorie oder IMO-Kategorie des Schiffs verhindert Doppel- und Mehrfachkategorierungen. Wenn das Schiff unbenannt wird/wurde, ändert sich zwar der Schiffsname, nicht aber die ENI-Nummer oder IMO-Nummer, ebenso wenig die Bauwerft oder das Baujahr. Ein Beispiel: Das Schiff mit der ENI 07001502 fuhr bislang unter den Namen Piz Lunghin (ship, 1987) und Fortuna (ship, 1987). Es macht wenig Sinn, die Kategorie "Ships built in 1987" in alle drei Kategorien zu setzen und damit dasselbe Schiff dreimal in der Unterkategorie (built in 1987) erscheinen zu lassen. Moin, wie kommst du darauf, dass, wie von dir kategorisiert, dieses Schiff bei der Schlömer Werft in Oldersum gebaut wurde? Erstens spricht die gleichzeitige Category:Ships built in Romania dagegen. Zweitens war die Schlömer Werft Ende 1996 von Oldersum nach Leer umgezogen. Das 1999 gebaute Schiff wäre demnach in Leer und nicht in Oldersum gebaut worden, wenn es denn überhaupt von der Schlömer Werft gebaut wurde. Kannst du das bitte nochmal überprüfenn? Moin Ies, das Schiff ist die ehemalige Moseldiep, die als Schlömer-Baunummer 603 entstanden ist. Der Kasko wurde aus Rumänien von der Werft Severnav (dortige Baunummer 610007) zugeliefert, die Endfertigung und Ausrüstung des Schiffs erfolgte bei Schlömer. Bezüglich des Standortes hast du natürlich recht, 1999 war die Schlömer-Werft nicht mehr in Oldersum sondern in Leer ansässig. Viele Grüße --Jewido (talk) 17:14, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moving cats to IMO

How is deleting cats attached to specific ships, and attaching them to the ship's IMO cat remotely helpful. See here. You are unwittingly hiding search criteria from finding the ship itself. IMO 6807527 is not helpful to human beings whereas Caribia (ship, 1933) is. People search for the ship not the IMO number. Your making the IMO number superior to the ship name, when that's not how people think.. Transferring cats to Wikidata, is another way of impeding search.

We are in danger of catting as a means to itself, rather than catting in order to facilitate or improve search. Cats moved over to Wikidata or in this case IMO numbers have impeded search not helped it. Broichmore (talk) 13:43, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moin Broichmore, the photo shows the two ships "Mozart" and "Penag". The "Parma" is not visible in this photo - not even a small part of this ship. Ship categories are object categories. If a category is added, then the object should also be visible in the photo. It may be that this photo was taken by someone on board the "Parma", but unfortunately the "Parma" (object) itself is not visible. If you disagree, then add the category again. That the creators intent when he named the image is of no consequence?

Wie oben bereits gesagt: Wenn du anderer Meinung bist, dann ergänze die Kategorie doch einfach wieder. Und natürlich ist die Category:Panoramic views from the Tour Montparnasse keine ungültige Kategorie. Normally when I see a marginal cat like that, I leave it alone. Someone made a judgement call. I only delete unquestionably wrong cats. Schiffsklassen

Moin Jewido, vielen Dank für deine ganzen Beiträge und vor allem Beseitigungen von Überkatekorisierungen. Bezüglich der Kategorien Ships built at ... verstehe ich die Kategorie so, dass einzelne Schiffe und nicht Schiffsklassen dort kategorisiert sein sollten. Leider gibt es da einen Wildwuchs und ich denke, dass wir diesen nicht unterstützen sollten, oder? Noch eine schöne Adventszeit wünscht dir --Ein Dahmer (talk) 20:39, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Moin Ein Dahmer, ich hätte kein Problem damit, bei den Schiffsklassen wie oben genannt vorzugehen. Insbesondere, wenn die Schiffsklasse auf verschiedenen Werften gebaut oder die Kaskos von mehreren Werft zugeliefert wurden, gibt es ein ziemliches Kuddel-Muddel bei den Kategorien. Bei den Kategorien der Sietas-Typen bin ich damals ähnlich vorgegangen, weil die Typen 81, 95 usw. nicht nur in Neuenfelde sowie auch auf der Norderwerft gebaut worden sind.
