@Itz victor kalu: That looks like a bug, as we have no logs of your attempted uploads. Bug reports generally require specifics, like what upload URL you tried to use and what options you tried, please see mw:How to report a bug for details.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 19:41, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

Copyright on photos/

Jeff G.: Please clarify. If I take a photo of a work of art from a deceased artist can I upload that image? The artist's estate I assume has a copyright on the work, but not my photo it. As an aside, my employer is getting a letter from the Trust that owns the artwork that we have permission to publish anywhere we deem appropriate any image of the artist and his works. Once I get this letter how would we send it to Wikipedia to satisfy your concerns?

Also for the photo taken in 1957 by an unknown fellow traveler, I believe there is a limit on copyright of 50 years. Then it is public domain. Am I wrong? From Art Researcher 1955 — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArtResearcher1955 (talk • contribs) 23:04, 4 September 2020‎ (UTC)

@ArtResearcher1955: the deceased artist's estate had a copyright on his artwork and photos, which he probably gave or left to the trust, and will be with your employer soon. Your photos of the artwork do/will have separate copyright, which you may have signed over to your employer as work for hire, part of your employment contract, so they need to be treated separately. Per {{PD-Art}}, Commons doesn't consider your scans of photos to acquire copyright. You would send a scan of the letter via OTRS, preferably with a text copy of the contents. Sharing the OTRS ticket number you receive with me would expedite the process. For the photo taken in 1957 by an unknown fellow traveler, the length of the copyright may depend on where the photo was taken, when and where it was published, and the lifetime of the traveler, so what data do you have? Do you have the negative? Please follow COM:SIGN.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 13:14, 5 September 2020 (UTC)

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

re: we be echo

my apologies, this is totally new to me and, at least initially, very counter intuitive.

I took the photo of myself used on my page, but I don't see where to add that information.

Apologies about promoting my next album, I will remove it and add it back when it's released under my discography - is that ok?

I hope I'm writing this in the correct area - it wasn't at all obvious where to go to reply to your messages.

I designed the covers I uploaded and took the photos I uploaded too.

File rename?

Hi, Jeff G. I was wondering if a file like this should be renamed. Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 13:35, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

@Lotje: Not without a good reason and a replacement filename.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 13:51, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
The words with Umlaut are incorrectly spelled, and in the Category is: Führer für Pilzfreunde. Thnks. Lotje (talk) 13:55, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
@Lotje: Then I recommend you fix it.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 15:46, 17 September 2020 (UTC)

User talk:Gordito1869

Hi Jeff, thank you for your decision at the Administrators' noticeboard ([1], [2]). Unfortunately Gordito1869 seems to misunderstand my project oriented activities as an attack on personal reasons although I tried to explain the disturbing effects of the links to his uploaded material and his texts for the article work in the German Wikipedia regarding the history of the Plessen family ([3]). Now he calls me "Denunziant" (Denunciator, used in German with a pejorative meaning [4]) and forbids me to use his talk page ([5]). I am willing to solve any problems on an objective level anytime, but because I never experienced such allegations in the Commons community before, I'll definitely need some help. Thanks in advance, --ThT (talk) 10:23, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

@ThT: You're welcome. Let's see what he does, but the odds are that an Admin or Steward will need to get involved.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 10:28, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

Picture

Hey, so again about the picture I tried to upload. I took the picture in a museum, and I had to crop and slightly edit it as the lighting wasn’t very good. So it is my own picture. I’ll see if I can enhance it in any way and try and upload it again. My apologies, I’m very new to all of this. Tamaradelempicka (talk) 14:12, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

@Tamaradelempicka: Hey, I am guessing that you took a picture of a portrait already on display in a museum; in such case, please have the portrait artist post Commons:Licensing compliant permission for such work on their website or social media presence or send the photo and permission via OTRS with a carbon copy to you. Please also read COM:DW.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 16:58, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

mess on Commons:Deletion requests/2020/09/25

Hi Jeff, were you able to revert all the mess that this vandal History TT has produced today on Commons:Deletion requests/2020/09/25? --Túrelio (talk) 20:32, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

@Túrelio; Yes, I reverted the newer stuff and E4024 reverted most of the older stuff. Thank you both for your help!   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 21:06, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

Assistance

For example if I want to contribute a an image to common that has been used in a whatsapp profile and a license has been given for use of photo on wikipidia, what should I present as an evidence of copy write? Abubakar Balarabe (talk) 06:47, 30 September 2020 (UTC)

@Abubakar Balarabe: Hi again. Exactly what photo, profile, and license? "for use of photo on wikipidia" is not good enough, we need a license which complies with COM:L to allow hosting by Wikimedia Commons. If we cannot see the licensing publicly, then we need it privately via OTRS.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 12:46, 30 September 2020 (UTC)
