The new file name contains two errors, as „Unknown Man“ is written in lower case. However, I had proposed the original French painting name. Why do you now own an English devised using title I is not clear. --Botaurus (talk) 14:57, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Perhaps you are right about the robe. Sotheby's calls it "RITRATTO DI GENTILUOMO IN ABITO ROSSO", in mixed case "Ritratto di Gentiluomo in Abito Rosso"[1]. Would that be acceptable? If not, something better with a reference?   — Jeff G. ツ 20:16, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
Sotheby's writes the image names, unfortunately, always great (which is bad for the simple transfer of text). In this case, it was Sotheby's Milan, which is why the Italian title. --Botaurus (talk) 11:26, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. Where did you get the "original French painting name"? Would File:Pierre Ernou - Portrait d'un gentilhomme en robe rouge (1713).jpg be ok?   — Jeff G. ツ 13:28, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

That would be a good image name. But the other one is not too bad. You can let him also. --Botaurus (talk) 19:46, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you.   — Jeff G. ツ 12:52, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

about renameing

Hi Jeff G.,

Sorry, but I do not understand what do you want. If you give me an example, perhaps I will understand. Regards DenesFeri (talk) 12:48, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Ok, let us consider the case of File:Pecten albicans - London 2.jpg. In this edit, you wrote in part "{{rename|Pecten albicans - London 2.jpg|The mollusca has been identified}}". It would have been far better if you had inserted "1" as the second parameter to form "{{rename|Pecten albicans - London 2.jpg|1|The mollusca has been identified}}".   — Jeff G. ツ 13:13, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

So you want me to put there "1"? For example if there are 5 pictures with Pecten albicans, to all I write "1", or "2", "3" etc.? DenesFeri (talk) 08:12, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

"1" is for your own uploads. All the rename requests you made that I can remember were for your own uploads. Please see Template:Rename/doc and File renaming criterion #1 for details.   — Jeff G. ツ 10:55, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi jeff G.,

I don't uderstand the use of this cat. All the cats are subcats of Category:Media requiring renaming. So what is the use? Cheers --Cwbm (commons) (talk) 18:21, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

It is for ease of use by people like me, who have read all there is to read on Category:Media requiring renaming but have tiny screens and want to see the whole situation at a glance.   — Jeff G. ツ 12:49, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
May I ask what screen you are using and why all the other categories don't bother you? --Cwbm (commons) (talk) 09:38, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
Most of the day on most days, when I use Commons I use my smartphone, a Samsung Galaxy Prevail with a screen that is 320×480 pixels (half VGA, 480×320 if I rotate it to landscape mode). Given my current flags, when I have a few minutes to devote to Commons and nothing outstanding on my user talk page, I feel working on the files in this category's subcategories to be the best interesting use of my time.   — Jeff G. ツ 12:20, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for my alte reply. Essentially you seem to have a scrolling problem. I don't think the solution can be to duplicate most of the category system. Rather in this case I would remove most of the text in the cat since it does not belong there anyway. --Cwbm (commons) (talk) 18:08, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Where would you put that text?   — Jeff G. ツ 18:47, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Either the template doc and/or the guidelines. --Cwbm (commons) (talk) 19:12, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

File:Home Flag.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

The "EulerPhi100.PNG" file

Hi. Do you think now the lines won't be mistaken as part of the graph? -- Jokes Free4Me (talk) 22:12, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

No, I don't. Thanks for making that change.   — Jeff G. ツ 01:06, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

#s

I just wanted to say thanks for your comments, etc, regarding the filemoving # issue. INeverCry 05:23, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

You're quite welcome. I probably should have done it sooner. Thank you for embracing the new syntax.   — Jeff G. ツ 12:25, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
