Uh?

As for the new syntax - oops. Mea culpa. I was informed yesterday that the template has been adjusted so as to take my preferences into account, but completely forgot the extra "|". I made that mistake... let's see, twice this morning. Thank you for reminding me; I'll abide by that henceforth.

As for the Cox/Shreve letter - .... uh? If you're referring to a mistake other than the missing "|" in the rename template, I don't understand?

As for the general case: "Too short" is not, in itself, a criterion for renaming, and to my recollection, I have not used it as such -- although it's certainly a good indicator for filenames which need modification for other reasons.

"Makes work for others" is not a reason to avoid fixing something which needs fixing. It is a reason to do the job right in the first place. DS (talk) 13:07, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

As for the Cox/Shreve letter - you used a right curly brace rather than a right parenthesis.   — Jeff G. ツ 02:08, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
I very much can understand the uploader's language. That particular name is useless garbage, and I resent your implication both that I cannot understand the language, and that I was being xenophobic. Do you have any idea of how much work I put into formulating proper file names in Hungarian, Turkish, Polish, Hebrew, Russian, Serbian, German, Slovenian, Italian, and - yes - Spanish? I would have said "name is ambiguous, uninformative" like I usually do, but some people have said that they will only rename if the name is actually meaningless, so I figured I'd be a little more emphatic. Hello!
I'm sorry but I did not upload this image. You probably should notify somebody else. Atlantia (talk) 08:15, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

File rename

Attention! For this file, I requested that the file was moved in and not File:Group Diagram Mini C10.svg.--Dega180 (talk) 09:16, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

HEY

After all the trouble I went to in order to have a properly-phrased Czech name for that file, you ignored the Czech description and used an English description?

Isn't that unconscionably xenophobic of you? DS (talk) 16:18, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

Ah, I apologize - that's not your fault, it's FleetCommand's fault. I expect to see you chastising him for being unconscionably xenophobic before you make any other edits. DS (talk) 19:06, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

Please explain how "153" is a proper description of "a bunch of ducks". Please explain what "153" even means here. DS (talk) 22:33, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Please explain how "" is a valid reason per the rename guidelines.   — Jeff G. ツ 00:30, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

File moves broken

Ni!

Hi Jeff, thanks for helping move the files I uploaded, but there was some mistake that led to a weird situation.

The files I wanted renamed are all in this category. As you might remember, they were the ones following the pattern "Telhado verde Casa Jaya XX.jpeg", where XX is 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 and 10.

What I see now in the category is that there are files wrongfully renamed as "Telhado verde Casa JayaXX", without the space between "Jaya" and "XX", and additional corresponding "empty" files with the correct name I intended!

Can you fix that? Those files should simply be named "Telhado verde Casa Jaya XX.jpg", so that they match the other files in that category.

Thank you!

No, sorry, an admin has to fix that.   — Jeff G. ツ 00:32, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Ok, I'll try to contact one. I also now understand what occurred: another file mover moved the same files at the same time you were moving, but he used wrong destinations, causing duplication. While you just created new pages with the same content, but without the files. Thanks! --Solstag (talk) 02:32, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Found one and he already fixed it, thanks for the advice. --Solstag (talk) 03:48, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm curious, why did you rename it? Materialscientist (talk) 12:48, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

The uploader categorized the file as a theater.[1] It does not look like a theater. 102RB submitted a plausible but misplaced rename request on the file's talk page.[2]. Not being able to read Russian, I AGF'd. I'm sorry I didn't investigate further. The best name now appears to be File:Шарипова Гульчачак Табрисовна.jpg, as the only use is in the infobox with that title at Russian Wikipedia article ru:Шарипова, Гульчачак Табрисовна, or perhaps File:Шарипова, Гульчачак Tабрисовна.jpg per the article name.   — Jeff G. ツ 13:48, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
