    • Mismatch Finder: We finished adding “next steps” dialog and a “more info” dialog to tell users more about the import a mismatch was added in.
    • We had discussions about how to best make the SearchBox WVUI component for the new Vector skin work well for Wikidata (phab:T275251)
    • We have put a version of WBStack on wikibase.dev. We will start work to deploy to wikibase.cloud in the coming weeks.

  • Mobile IP editors are now able to receive warning notices indicating they have a talk page message on the mobile website (similar to the orange banners available on desktop). These notices will be displayed on every page outside of the main namespace and every time the user attempts to edit. The notice on desktop now has a slightly different colour. [4][5]

Revert Request for the Flag of Slovenia

Hi, I made a request in the flag of Slovenia's talk page. The current colors of the flag are based on CMYK values given in here but it is much brighter than the provided picture and the PDF provided in the same source(here). Just converting CMYK to RGB is not very accurate. For the flag of Montenegro(for which only CMYK values are given), we used the colors from the provided document rather than the given CMYK values because it was too bright. I have actually uploaded that flag with CMYK so we can see the difference. For Slovenia, the PDF is quite clear and I think we should follow that. There already is a version that uses the PDF colors in the file history and it just needs to be reverted. I think the flag of Montenegro is a good precedent to do just that.

Wiki Science Competition 2021 has started

Dear uploader of European Science Photo Competition 2015 and Wiki Science Competition 2017 and Wiki Science Competition 2019, we would like to remind you that Wiki Science Competition 2021 has started in the whole world. It is now completed in Russia (active in May), but it's still open in almost all the other countries.

If you want to take part in WSC2021, please consult this page. Only some national categories are associated to competitions with local prizes.

If you are an expert user, we remind you that images uploaded within the deadline can be included in any case in their national category even if not uploaded with the main interface.

Please keep in mind that there is a new category this year, that is "astronomy".

If you already took part in a country that has completed its upload phase, please consider improving the description in English of your files (click on the edit button), since such description is what the international jury will use to evaluate them. World finalists will be finalized after March 2020.

  • Recurrent item The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 December. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 December. It will be on all wikis from 9 December (calendar).
  • At all Wikipedias, a Mentor Dashboard is now available at Special:MentorDashboard. It allows registered mentors, who take care of newcomers' first steps, to monitor their assigned newcomers' activity. It is part of the Growth features. You can learn more about activating the mentor list on your wiki and about the mentor dashboard project.
  • Advanced item The predecessor to the current MediaWiki Action API (which was created in 2008), action=ajax, will be removed this week. Any scripts or bots using it will need to switch to the corresponding API module. [9]
  • Advanced item An old ResourceLoader module, jquery.jStorage, which was deprecated in 2016, will be removed this week. Any scripts or bots using it will need to switch to mediawiki.storage instead. [10]

 Oppose - Sorry but no you should under no circumstance ever be warned for making a death threat here never. What BP says is irrelevant and wikilawyering way around this wont help your case. Sure Rod was indeffed and it got lowered to 6 months but common sense would tell you that such comments should never be repeated ... but instead you repeated it so I don't see why you should be unblocked or even see why it should be lowered.  Comment This unblock request follows a rangeblock for block evasion I put on Special:Contributions/94.42.0.0/18 which was the range that edited twice claiming to be User:Jdx. This range also had no activity for 5 years until the Jdx account was blocked. It seems apparent that Jdx was evading their block within an hour of being blocked and now that evading their block by editing logged out is no longer an option, they have requested an unblock on their account.   • This is a "COM:POINT"-based block, Jdx I really want to see you return here and I think that we would universally support your unblock if you just admit that what you did was wrong. You should try to look at it from the perspective of the LTA, the Long-Term Abuser you threatened could have experienced severe emotional distress because of your message, you should under no circumstance threaten physical harm to another user, even if they're a vandal. The only two (2) things you have to do to get unblocked is say that you understand that disrupting the Wikimedia Commons to make a point is bad and that threatening other users is bad, I don't think that anyone would object to your unblock if you could admit this, please. You are a valuable contributor here and have been an administrator until a few months ago, just please do not pollute this unblock request with wikilawyering. So let me state it clearly: I don't give a shit about vandals and their feelings. They are nothing to me. Please just understand that you cannot insult anyone, even if they are vandalising. There is this vandal that constantly tells me to go fuck my mother and that I should die, he basically leaves me several such messages a week on various Wiki's, the only good response is to calmly explain why his actions are bad. Doing bad things in response to bad actions means that you are also being bad, that is what you have to acknowledge. If a house is on fire then using a flamethrower on it makes you just as guilty as the original pyromaniac. Yes, this is an essay but "Editors are expected to avoid personal attacks and harassment of other Commoners. This applies equally to all Commoners: it is as unacceptable to attack a user who has a history of foolish or boorish behaviour, or even one who has been subject to disciplinary action by an Administrator, as it is to attack any other user." Insulting another user is a form of vandalism, in what lead to the block you were also a vandal. Please just acknowledge that what you did was unacceptable so your next unblock request will be successful. The only good response is to block them (or report if you are not an admin), revert and forget. No talking. Actually your attitude kinda frightens (although also amuses) me: "poor vandal that just wanted to have some fun" or that "severe emotional distress" above. I know that your intentions are good, but geez, dude, on what world do you live? Anyway, you are missning the point that I was blocked out of process for a reason that is justified neither by Commons' policies nor common sense. What is important, I am not the first one (and Rodhullandemu is not the only one who I have in mind). All of this provoked by a few randoms from enwiki and our good ole troll Davey; and a few of our admins took these bullshit allegations seriously. If "community" wants to drive out productive users due to bullshit reasons, if there is "consensus" about it among some randoms, then so be it. FYI this whole Rodhullandemu case is just a climax, I started to think about leaving a long time ago, about the time when Zhuyifei1999 had left. So no, thanks, I pass.
