Wrong Information about some Maps

Hi, sorry that I can only type English. The Ming Dynasty of China never ruled or annexed Formosa/Taiwan for its whole period before falling. Formosa was a completely independent territory from China or other countries at that time. That's why Portuguese/Spanish were in Taiwan later from 1624-1662. Those maps are really misleading. I wish you can check the information and fix the problem. They are kind of offense and do not fit the Wikipedia norm to reflect the facts. Thanks!--Wildcursive (talk) 03:25, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Říše Ming

Hi Jann,

I was directed to you by user Podzemnik‎ (link). Maybe you can help with a map I like to use on nl:Ming-dynastie. I like the map Říše Ming. Historically correct and I especially like the faded out borders, which reflect the shifting situation at the time. But I am afraid the Czech names wouldn't work for a Dutch-speaking audience and I don't have the skills to make another version. Would you be willing to make a nl version of this map? Hi Jann, great that you were willing to help in this matter. I will gladly use this map in the nl Ming article. I have started this weekend on improving the article and have only done the intro. For now I will put the file in the infobox, but later I will give it a more suitable and visible place in the paragraph about the border regions.

There are a few tiny things that could be improved if it's not too much trouble. provincie hoofdsteden is written as provinciehoofdsteden in Dutch. Chinese muur could be Chinese Muur, Tumen has a dots on the u, Tümen and Wuchang is better known as Wuhan, but that was all I could find. Many thanks for your help. Hi Jann, you're right about adding the present name instead of a replace. I was thinking about this later, that probably at the time your names were used and not the present names. Prosím o pomoc

Dobrý den/ahoj. Vzhledem k mé bídné angličtině si dovoluji na Vás obrátit s prosbou v češtině. Nevím, jestli jsem "kápl" na pravého člověka, či ne. Pokud ne, nevíte o někom, kdo by v tomto věděl pracovat? Jde mi o šablonu LocMap Lucembursko na české wiki i na několika dalších. Ta využívá jako základní mapu takovou, ve které jsou zobrazeny 3 distrikty Lucemburska. Ty byly ale v roce 2015 zrušeny a nyní je nevyšší správní jednotkou kanton - celkem 12. Tak se ptám, nebylo by možné přeměnit soubor tento po vzoru jakéhokoli z této kategorie? Ahoj. Prohlížím ostatní mapy LocMap na české wiki... Některé řeky zahrnují, jiné ne. Nicméně na Lucembursku mám takový vizuální dojem, že kdyby tam nebyly, bylo by to celé přehlednější. Je to můj subjektivní pohled... Zhodnoťte sám, zda máte chuť a čas ještě obrázek dotvořit. Každopádně mockrát díky. --Unpocoloco (talk) 16:32, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on 1 May 2023, 23:59:59 UTC.
