Goodies, tips, and tricks Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities. You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads. Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Since you tagged the CFD page for speedy deletion, I've deleted it. Please recreate it, if you're still interested in seeing the category deleted. Incidentally, what was your rationale for requesting deletion of the category? Nyttend (talk) 03:57, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

I regret to inform you that File:Niantic Rail Station.jpg is not the former East Lyme / Niantic train station. Per this source, the station was burned in 1970, and the small shelter that had replaced it was removed in 1978. The building you photographed is just an old gas station. Yeah, it fooled me when I first saw it as well. I wasn't 100% convinced about the platform - that's not a common paving style for New Haven stations - but it appears that Madison station has similar platform remains. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 00:14, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in the United States – Results!

Thank you for contributing to Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in the United States during the month of October! The United States contest saw over 1,400 people (the most of any nation this year) contribute over 8,000 great photos of cultural and historic sites from all over the United States and its territories. Hundreds of these photos are already being used to illustrate pages on various Wikimedia projects.

We're excited to announce that our national judging process has concluded, and that we have selected the winners of Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in the United States! These photos are recognized for their photographic quality, artistic merit, and their encyclopedic value as illustrations of unique historical sites. We were amazed by all of the uploads, and regret only being able to formally recognize the top 10. That being said – congratulations to our national winners and their amazing shots! Our 10 winners will be sent to the international Wiki Loves Monuments jury, who will then select the winners of the international contest. If you're interested in seeing the winners of the other national contests, you may do so at Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 winners.

Finally, we have also created a feedback form for all U.S. participants to fill out. The survey is optional and anonymous, and only takes a minute or two – we hope to use the feedback to organize better events in the future!

Hello! Last year you contributed to Wiki Loves Monuments 2017 in the United States. I'm pleased to say that we're back this year with Wiki Loves Monuments 2018 in the United States, and I'd like to welcome you to participate once again in the event. Check out our updated event page for more information. The event runs similar to last year with some small but exciting changes: improved state guides, an interactive map, and a larger prize pool! Like last year, you'll be able to upload your photos of any registered historical site in the United States through the end of September (even if the photos were taken before this month).

WLM photos

I suggest you go for quality over quantity with your WLM photos. Your uploads do not have useful descriptions, nor descriptive filenames, nor sufficient categorization. They include copyright violations, weird angles, useless photos of signs, photos useless without proper descriptions, and other issues that make many not particularly useful, or outright disallowed on Commons. Please limit your uploads to those that are actually useful, and take the time to add good descriptions, filenames, and categories. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 03:48, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

September 30th is the last day to upload photos for Wiki Loves Monuments! We're thrilled that the United States has almost reached 4,000 contributions so far this year. Of these images, ~370 (~9%) have already been used to help illustrate Wikipedia articles and pages on other wiki projects, which is fantastic.

If you've already made a photo contribution this year, thanks so much! If you have any last-minute photos of U.S. historical sites to upload and enter into the contest, today's the day to do it. Check out the United States event page for more information. Judging will take place throughout the month of October, after which the top-ten national finalists will be announced in early November.
