First steps tutorial

Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your Graphics abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal Gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page, write this: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], it makes this: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper

Logotipos de partidos y movimientos políticos[edit]

Hola Izquierdojv, los logotipos de partidos, juventudes, empresas y prácticamente cualquier tienen unos derechos de autor cuyos propietarios son las propias organizaciones. Al estar bajo tales derechos, no pueden ser usados en commons, ya que las licencias no son compatibles con las de commons. Más info aquí. Problemas con las fotos que has subido[edit]

Hola Izquierdojv, hay algunos problemas con las fotos que has subido. En un mensaje que me dejaste a principios de diciembre afirmabas ser el director de comunicación del Partido Popular, algo que no tengo por qué poner en duda. Por otra parte, estás subiendo imágenes del Partido Popular de Cataluña cuya licencia en flickr es incompatible con la de Commons (esto es, aparentemente estás licenciando las mismas imágenes con dos licencias incompatibles).

Como podrías ser, o no, quien dices ser, te pido que, para estar seguros y no se borren las imágenes, sigas las intrucciones de Commons:OTRS/es a fin de que tengamos claro que tienes los poderes necesarios para asignar las licencias que has escogido. Deberías mandar el correo desde una dirección de correo identificable del dominio pp.es (tranquilo, el correo no me llegará a mí, sino a la lista opaca de la Fundación Wikimedia, de forma que sólo sus voluntarios tendrán acceso a dicho correo. Cuando lo hayas hecho, házmelo saber para que pueda pedirle a algún voluntario que verifique tu correo. Hasta entonces, tus contribuciones estarán marcadas como con "falta de información sobre licencia". Espero que entiendas el problema. Probablemente esta es la mejor. Por cierto, firma tus mensajes, así sé que eres tú sin necesidad de ver el historial. Se hace con el botón que te indico a la izquierda. Además, no olvides indicar la URL de todas las imágenes que quieres autorizar (sigo pensando que es más sencillo que simplemente cambies la licencia en flickr de las imágenes que quieres subir a commons, pero puedes hacerlo como quieras. Bien, dado que has cambiado la licencia en flickr todo se simplifica mucho (ya no tienes que enviar el correo ni nada por el estilo). Como de todas formas un administrador tiene que verificar la licencia, me voy a encargar yo de cambiar todos los permisos y fuentes. Fíjate por favor en cómo lo hago para si subes más fotos (aunque te recomiendo mejor que utilices flickr2commons; esta herramienta se encarga de poner la fuente correcta, verifica la licencia y tú sólo tienes que añadir categorías o cualquier otra cosa que se necesite; mucho más cómodo). Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
