Picture of the Year voting round 1 open

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

I see you translated Commons:Photographs of identifiable people in Commons:Фотографии людей, которых можно идентифицировать. I am going to enable the translate extension on this page, which will have for side effect to reinitialize the page in English. Would you be available to help with the last step, pasting all the old translations into the new system? I could try and do my best but it is tricky when you do not speak the language :)

Oh, sorry, I had missed your answer. I had not enabled the Translate feature yet (as it reinitialize the translated pages I was waiting to see if people could help :-). It’s done now.
Your translation matched the source so closely that felt confident enough to try copy/pasting myself − see Commons:Photographs of identifiable people/ru. Could you check if it is okay? To access the Translate interface, pick the "Translate" tab (which replaces the usual “Edit” one). You can use the “Review” mode to mark translations chunked as checked if you want.

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Dear Iluvatar,

The 2013 Picture of the Year competition has ended and we are pleased to announce the results: We shattered participation records this year — more people voted in Picture of the Year 2013 than ever before. In both rounds, 4070 different people voted for their favorite images. Additionally, there were more image candidates (featured pictures) in the contest than ever before (962 images total).

  • In the first round, 2852 people voted for all 962 files
  • In the second round, 2919 people voted for the 50 finalists (the top 30 overall and top 2 in each category)

We congratulate the winners of the contest and thank them for creating these beautiful images and sharing them as freely licensed content:

  1. 157 people voted for the winner, an image of a lightbulb with the tungsten filament smoking and burning.
  2. In second place, 155 people voted for an image of "Sviati Hory" (Holy Mountains) National Park in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine.
  3. In third place, 131 people voted for an image of a swallow flying and drinking.

OTRS - AIMP

Здравствуйте. Можете уточнить пожалуйста: OTRS ticket #2013082610003472 относится к любым материалам AIMP (хотя бы к любым скриншотам и логотипам?) или тольке же к этим двум файлам: File:AIMP3_Logo.png & File:AIMP.jpg? Спрашиваю потому что, увидев эти тикеты OTRS, подумал перевести ro:File:AIMP-logo.png на викисклад. --XXN, 01:08, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Добрый. Я не вижу письма в системе. В папке со спамом также. Когда было отправлено письмо? С какого адреса? Если адрес непубличный, то сообщите мне его по вики-почте (ссылка слева). This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

1. То есть все загрузки без исключение от этого пользователя обрабатывать таким образом, верно?
2. Владелец аккаунта знает, что этот аккаунт исключительно для этих загрузок? Чтобы мы случайно на его иные фотки не кинули тикет.
3. Что с категориями? Нужно помимо этого пользователя, проверять ещё и обе подкатегории, верно? Там другие пользователи грузят?
4. Я правильно понимаю, что VFC не умеет рыть в глубину категорий и нужно указывать по отдельности подкатегории? Там подкатегорий достаточно много.
5. Что на счёт того, что в категории может появиться любой снимок, закинутый туда новичком или вандалом? Или просто надеться на лучшее?

  1. Да, спасибо, отлично получилось;
  2. Ничего другого с этого аккаунта они вроде грузить не собирались, но, думаю, будет видно по контенту, если передумают;
  3. Нет, загрузки идут только с одного аккаунта. При этом за это время уже сложился круг энтузиастов, занимающихся категоризацией сразу после загрузки новой партии — как правило, обрабатывают быстро — я и не припомню, чтобы вмешивался;
  4. См. следующий пункт;
  5. Не сразу понял. Так если VFC запускать по нику загружающего, а не по категории, никаких проблем быть не должно. Да и любое отличие в структуре описания файла сразу бы вылезло при обработке. При запуске по юзернейму прекрасно видна граница между новыми загрузками и файлами, уже получившими тикет (opm на голубоватом фоне). Выделять весь этот новый объём проще простого — галочка на файле №1 и — с Shift’ом — вторая галочка на последнем необработанном;
  6. Не знаю, сколько всего, но до сих пор это происходило в необременительном темпе. Думаю, что VFC в определённом смысле неплохо справляется с ролью бота, да и едва ли кто-то позволит дать боту флаг OTRS-агента. А не появись недовольные такой деятельностью без флага, я бы и сам её продолжал. Насчёт шаблона - можно сделать и его, но ото всех замен это не избавит - там всё равно приходится не только добавлять текст в описание, но и убирать неправильный. Вообще, любые разумные доработки этой практики — на Ваше усмотрение. Sealle (talk) 22:50, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
  1. Про категорию: просто помимо ника вы указали ещё и категорию. Ясно, значит только по нику.
  2. Боту не нужно давать флаг, его можно внести в исключения фильтра (гляньте код фильтра) или просто упаковать тикет в шаблон, тогда тег добавляться не будет.

Да, наверное, тикет внутри шаблона может добавить кто угодно, и никаких меток при этом не вылезет. И если ботовод имеет соответствующий флаг — наверное, даже теоретически претензий возникнуть не должно.
