File renaming[edit]
It is better when somebody is doing one renaming at the same time only. You are doing it too fast: that is why you get errors like that quite often.
Renaming is not a safe process: read this talk, please, especially the end...
You should read the whole renaming request -- and decide: accept or not. If you don't know, leave it for others.
It is good to study the Commons:File renaming page, especially the section Which files should not be renamed? (especially footnotes) and to observe the Commons:File renaming/Recently declined rename requests: you'll see how it works in practise.

- P. S. A sentence from Commons:File_renaming cite: "Unless there is a compelling reason not to, uploader requests should be honored. This is a courtesy, not an absolute, however. Rubbish renames[edit]
With renames like 
File:100 percent.svg please just reject them. The file is used in large numbers crosswiki, and this sort of rubbish move just creates unnecessary work for no value. The junkie reason of aligning refers to templates, and this has been used in this way for many years quite successfully. We need file movers attuned to the crosswiki use of files and have the ability to say "no" to such requests. Thanks. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:50, 22 October 2016 (UTC)

Renaming of File:Hernan.png[edit]
Hello Ibrahim Husain. I am writing you about this renaming request. It actually complies with point 2 of the guidelines. Please read Commons:File_renaming#fr-generic-categories. I will try to explain myself better: "Hernan" is a very common name, like "John" or "Ibrahim", when the real subject of the photo is "Hernan Crespo" (like John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Ibrahim Husain Meraj, etc.). So the current name is definitely ambiguous (there are hundreds of thousands of people named Hernan). It's like giving to an image the name of "smartphone.jpg" (or "john.jpg") instead of, for eg, "Samsung 7 XYZ.jpg" (or "john fitzgerald kennedy.jpg"). - @Lucas: , I am extremely sorry for my late reply. Yes, you should ask another mover/sysop for the rename. I am not still convinced about the rationale. Yes, it is a common name and confusing, but for further explanation anyone can check the description or categories. Another issue is the player we are talking about is quite famous himself, so any file name will recognize him instantly. Thanks for understanding. Your VFC installation method is deprecated[edit]
Hello Ibrahim Husain Meraj, we are aware that using the old installation method of VFC (via common.js, which you are using) may not work reliably anymore and can break other scripts as well. A detailed explanation can be found here. Important: To prevent problems please remove the old VFC installation code from your common.js and instead enable the VFC gadget in your preferences. Important message for file movers[edit]
A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.
Round 1 will end on UTC.
