hi, i think you meant to use template:artwork with wikidata, rather than Template:Wikidata Infobox. but let's talk, if you disagree. Slowking4 § Sander.v.Ginkel's revenge 13:27, 6 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comment. I think template:artwork with wikidata is better than Template:Wikidata Infobox as you say. But, I don't have strong opinion so much and just adding minimum change to existing descripton to link to wikidata. Does this answer make sense?

Deletion[edit]

Hello!

If you want to delete a page that you created within 7 days you can use the template {{Speedydelete}} instead of {{Delete}}. Use this syntax: {{Speedydelete|G7. Author or uploader request deletion}}. I fixed on Data talk:Data:COVID-19/p1.tab.Jonteemil (talk) 05:40, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks. Higa4 (talk) 05:45, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Correction. I found that {{SD|G7}} is a bit better. I fixed on Data talk:Data:COVID-19/p1.tab.Jonteemil (talk) 06:35, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I see. Higa4 (talk) 07:20, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comment and sorry for incorrect edit. I reverted. Higa4 (talk) 23:14, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Claim" edits[edit]

Could you please mark these as minor edits? My watchlist is nothing but these changes, which is not helpful. Example diff. -- (talk) 14:34, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your advice. I'm using the tool AC/DC for these edits. Do you know how to flag it minor edits? Higa4 (talk) 14:42, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Never used it. You would have to ask at the tool talk page. -- (talk) 17:38, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Asking. Higa4 (talk) 02:44, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Currently, there's no way to mark as minor edit using AC/DC. If you think it is necessary, can you please discuss about this for yourself at the tool talk page? Higa4 (talk) 11:28, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please desist from using it until Commons:Village_pump#Anti-flooding_proposal_for_Gadget-ACDC is resolved. -- (talk) 09:38, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

All prints listed under this category were originally designed by Utagawa Hiroshige I. These are later reprints from around 1900. Please see the relevant entries in the Library of Congress. (Utagawa Hiroshige I is still referred to there by the name Andō Hiroshige, which is no longer used in the specialist literature.)

So far I have not been able to find any print in Commons that could be assigned to Hiroshige IV.

A “Reprints from Hiroshige Prints” category may be a better choice. Regards. --Horst Gräbner (talk) 16:57, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your advice. I moved to Category: Reprints from Hiroshige Prints.--Higa4 (talk) 22:31, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Higa4. The category is for prints of Utagawa Toyonobu (歌川豊宣), 1859–1886. The prints “File:Loyaliteit Shin (titel op object) Parodieën op de Vijf Festivals (serietitel) Mitate gosekku (serietitel op object), RP-P-1956-583.jpg“ and “File:Loyaliteit-Rijksmuseum RP-P-1956-583.jpeg“ you added to this category are by Utagawa Toyonobu (歌川豊信), fl. 1770–80.

Because the two artists are written with different Kanji, they are not referred to in literature as Toyonobu I and Toyonobu II. In order to distinguish between them in the transliteration, they would have to be distinguished by the Kanji or by their life dates. “category:Utagawa Toyonobu (歌川豊宣)“ / “category:Utagawa Toyonobu (歌川豊信) or “category:Utagawa Toyonobu (1859–1886)“ / “category:Utagawa Toyonobu (fl. 1770–80). Regards. --Horst Gräbner (talk) 18:19, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I will check it when I have time. --Higa4 (talk) 07:54, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I see. I updated/devided the categories though I'm uncertain if it's a good way. Please improve if you can. --Higa4 (talk) 23:53, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I am not familiar with the category system of commons and it seems to be a bit "confused" to me, but that should be ok. --Horst Gräbner (talk) 12:45, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

prints by Utagawa Kuniyoshi[edit]

Hi I see you are uploading many great prints by Utagawa Kuniyoshi and other Japanese artists. Those are great images. I see you are adding Wikidata item with q-number for the series: a much better way would be to create wikidata items for each print (print pattern - not each page printed with the same image). I just did the same for several hundreds of Albrecht Durer prints so I can show you how to do that easily, If you are interested. --Jarekt (talk) 04:39, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I know your advice is better. Currently I don't have enough time to create each item by image (each print pattern). I think it's easy to change metadata on the image page using each image print pattern's wikidata item later because I don't add metadata directly on commons so much. I will do it some day later using OpenRefine modifying the csv file I'm current using for image upload.--Higa4 (talk) 05:30, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

Hi Higa4. I noticed that you've made a malformed deletion request. When you want to delete a file with the {{Delete}} template, you must follow the instructions in the template, including the "Click here to show further instructions" portion. Alternatively, you can click the "Nominate for deletion" link in the left sidebar, under the "tools" section, which does all of the work for you. Please do one of these, otherwise you create a lot of work for other people. If you don't see the "Nominate for deletion" link in the left sidebar, you can use the JavaScript method of enabling AjaxQuickDelete on Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets once and then refresh once.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 05:06, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your advice. I see. --Higa4 (talk) 05:15, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Danjūrō butai nigao-e by Utagawa Kunisada[edit]

Hello Higa4! The prints in this surimono series are from Toyokuni I, not Kunisada I. See for example here. --Horst Gräbner (talk) 09:13, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2022 voting is open![edit]

2022 Picture of the Year: Saint John Church of Sohrol in Iran.

Read this message in your language

Dear Wikimedian,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on UTC.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Your opinion about OpenRefine and its Wikimedia Commons features: two (!) surveys[edit]

Hi! You have recently tried/used Wikimedia Commons features in OpenRefine (uploading files, or editing existing files). I'm curious to hear how this has gone, also if you only briefly tried these features.

To help the OpenRefine team with future improvements, it would be immensely helpful if you would be willing to spend a bit of time filling in two surveys. (Yes, two! Each of them uses a different method and (open source) platform).

  1. A first, classical, survey (fully anonymous) where you can tell us how you use the Commons features in OpenRefine, and how you (want to) learn to use them better;
  2. A second, more experimental survey (also fully anonymous) in which you prioritize the features that matter most to you. This second survey is a bit strange in that you can 'just keep clicking'. Feel free to use it as long or as briefly as you want; you can stop any time. Please also add your own suggestions!

Many thanks! With kind regards, SFauconnier (talk) 18:24, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I already answered several weeks ago. Thanks for implementing this function. Higa4 (talk) 13:22, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
