Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Image categories

Hello Harshit SR, hope you're doing well. Thanks for your valuable contributions to Wikimedia Commons. Appreciate the valuable contributions you make to Wikimedia Commons by adding the images you've clicked. I voluntarily maintain the Category:India which is where I've see the photos that you've added. Just wanted to suggest you that add only those categories which are specific to the image (which you already do) and not the generic ones. One might feel that adding more categories means more visibility. However, it only adds to the chaos. Say, for example, I want to find the images of Ranikhet, I would directly search for Category:Ranikhet instead of Category:India, Category:Uttarakhand or Category:Almora. Adding the last three tags is not specific enough for anyone to be able to search the exact image you've put up (check out these categories to know what I mean). See this image or this one of yours which is rightly categorized now. Only this much is required. Overall, the idea of categorization on Wikimedia is to set it as deep as possible, only then it will be effective. Hope you understand my point. Wiki Loves Folklore is an international photography contest organized on Wikimedia Commons, this campaign invites participants to document folklore and intangible cultural heritage from different regions, including, folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, folk activities, folk games, folk cuisine, folk wear, folktales, folk games, folk religion, mythology and many more. Let's help to protect and develop our intangible Indian culture, which consists of customs or active expressions that we have acquired from our ancestors and passed down to our offspring.

How to Contribute?

The dates for the submission in the photography contest on Wikimedia Commons are from 1 February to 31 March 2023. Probably you are wondering how you can take part. It’s simple: grab a camera, record an image, video or audio under the folklore theme, create a Wikimedia account and start uploading!
