You have been blocked for a duration of 1 week[edit]

You have been blocked from editing Commons for a duration of 1 week for the following reason: Campaigning off-project to have an editor blocked in relation to the Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems#User:LGA.

If you wish to make useful contributions, you may do so after the block expires. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may add {{unblock|(enter your reason here) ~~~~}} below this message explaining clearly why you should be unblocked. See also the block log. @Sven Manguard: I am asking you to unblock me. I was surprised to find out that I was blocked by you with out any warning. I am not familiar with the blocked policy in Commons, But I believe that the usual practice is at first to give a user a warning, especially a user that contribute so much to commons. From Aug, 2009 I have total 23,112 edits, 18,092 on files and 2,476 on Categories.
From what you wrote, here I understand now that there is an officially policy in Commons that forbid users in Commons to write in other's Wiki-projects anything about user problems in Commons. I have no problem to follow this policy and I will keep it of course in the future. I would appreciate it very much if you can give me a link to this policy, so I can read it very carefully to be sure that I wiil never cross the line of this policy again.
I would appreciate it also if you explain to me the duration that you have chosen to block me.
I ping also some others users and administrators such as @Jkadavoor: , @Matanya: , @ChrisiPK: , @Yann: @: maybe you are not available, so they will help with the explanations and the link. Thanks. Hanay (talk) 03:44, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Stay calm; we're discussing it here. Jee 04:17, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I will go ahead and unblock you, since you have promised to refrain from further cross-project canvassing. I strongly suggest that you avoid LGA for the foreseeable future, as this conflict does not need any further inflaming.
As to blocking you without warning, you should not have needed one. You actively solicited on one project to have a user blocked/topic banned on another, and I have yet to come across a WMF project where that would be considered remotely acceptable. Yes, policies vary from project to project, but they are broadly the same when it comes to actions that are prohibited. I have a hard time believing that you've never heard of prohibitions against canvassing and meatpuppetry, considering that you are admin on Hebrew Wikipedia.
As to why the block length was a week, my intention was to force you to take a step back from the dispute with LGA. Blocks are preventative, and it was clear to me that you needed to be prevented from continuing to participate in LGA related discussions, as you had already gone way out of line.
Finally, I hope I don't need to say this, but the block had nothing to do with you or LGA personally. I wasn't aware that there had been a long running dispute between LGA and Hebrew Wikipedia editors until I saw the thread, and I haven't followed any of the deletion requests at issue. To be completely honest, I don't intend to follow the dispute any further either. If the dispute doesn't spawn any further issues, I doubt that I'll even remember any of this six months from now. Please though, don't let this dispute spawn any further issues.
I hope this clears everything up. I will me back online once tomorrow's World Cup games are over, if you need anything else. Sven Manguard Wha? 04:51, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Sven Manguard: Thank you for the explanation. But as an admin in he:wiki I know that we always give an warning before blocking unless it is a pure vandalism. Is the practice in Commons is different?
I can ensure you that if you approached me and asked me not to do it, the result was the same. Hanay (talk) 05:36, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
He already stated that he was not aware of the long time issues, earlier. So please take it light. BTW, it is always better to leave topic for the judgement of regulars in a wiki than flooding a discussion with people coming from another wiki (as happened now.) You can raise your concerns; but leave to us for analysis. It may slow; but you can always expect an unbiased decision. Trust us. Jee 05:47, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Jkadavoor: Thank you. I will trust you to do the right thing. Hanay (talk) 07:02, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User:Sven Manguard apologize To Hanay, a block was not the correct choice of action, I should have warned you instead, and I apologize for being over-aggressive in my response her. Hanay, I think this thread can be archived.Geagea (talk) 01:56, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

+1. Archive and forget it. Jee 02:28, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
