Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

your recent "non-free" tagging[edit]

Me acabo de fijar, y parece que el libro "Álbum Artístico, Commercial e Industrial do Estado da Bahia" es nomás de 1930. ¿Me estoy perdiendo de algo? Escanear fotos que están en el dominio público es perfectamente legítimo, no se genera un derecho nuevo por el acto de escanear, que es apenas un proceso mecánico. Si las fotos se tomaron en 1928 y se conservaron privadamente, y se publicaron al alcance del público en 1930, entonces los 70 años empiezan a correr desde 1930, pero en este caso no hace ninguna diferencia, porque entonces son libres desde hace 11 años.

Valga la aclaración, ya que estamos, que al decir "colección privada" hablamos de fotos que alguien sacó por su cuenta y mantuvo guardadas en su cajón. Una vez que algo se publica, ya se considera publicado. Da igual si, con los años, se pierden la mayoría de los libros y sólo sobreviven algunos ejemplares en las "colecciones privadas" de algunas personas. En esos casos, la persona es dueña del ejemplar físico del libro, pero no de los derechos de autor del contenido del libro. Cambalachero (talk) 03:10, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
