Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hi. Could you please clarify the source and status of File:Old Denham Springs swimming in Amite River.jpg? You have yourself listed as the author and the photo as your own work, but have it with a copyright tag as being the work of someone who died more than 70 years ago. Doesn't seem to fit together, does it? I don't believe you're a ghost. :-) Please correct the information-- where does the photo come from, when, who if known, etc. Note that works published in the USA before 1923 are public domain in any case, so the image is likely PD, but more info is needed. Just be accurate and honest, and if there are questions about using Wikimedia Commons and copyright tags you can't find an answer to, feel free to ask. Briare Canal Map[edit]

Hello Gloverepp! Your File:Briare Canal Map.png is not correct, because this canal ends in the city-harbor of Briare and not at the Briare aqueduct. The Canal latéral à la Loire includes the aqueduct and additional 2 kilometers from the canal on the right side of the Loire river and ends there by the confluance with the Canal de Briare.
