SUL and usurpation question...

Hi Giggy. I have a question about the SUL and usurpation on commons: I am an active sysop over at en.wikipedia, under the username 'Islander'. I was originally named 'TheIslander', as 'Islander' was already taken, but before being promoted to sysop I managed to usurp the unused account. I have now taken ownership of the global SUL 'Islander' account, and have unified a number of my accounts, but here on commons I have a problem: User:Islander is already taken by a fairly active user. In this situation, who gets priority over the name? If it's me (as this would seem to suggest, with me being a sysop at en.wikipedia, and this Islander not being a sysop anywhere) how do I go about usurping him? If it's not me, is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer :). TheIslander 18:19, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

By the by, in case it's needed (it has been for some of my other usurpations), here's an edit to my en.wikipedia talk page to prove that I am me :). TheIslander 23:54, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Hey Islander (I'm DHMO on EnWP so I know you there :)). Have you tried contacting Islander? From my reading of Meta you probably will get the rename eventually, but I think the best course of action here is to ask nicely and try and sort things in a friendly manner. I'm not going to perform a rename for now unless he consents to it. giggy (:O) 02:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Heh, never realised that you and Dihydrogen were one and the same :P. Best of luck with your current RfA ;). As for speaking with Islander, I will do, but probably not just yet. SUL seems (in my opinion) to have been rushed out, without the infrastructure to back it up - there should be a clear-cut set of rules for situations like this, dictating who gets priority over a name. There's also the slight issue that he has approached me in the past, asking how I'm using his name, so I'm not too sure how he'd take it. Hmm. Thanks for your advice though ;). TalkIslander 12:22, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
I actually decided to ask him right now, as the wording was floating around in my head :P. If he agrees, I'll let you know. TalkIslander 14:50, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! Yeah, I agree that SUL has been rushed out somewhat, and it didn't help getting +crat midway through. But no point in complaining. Asking him is a good idea, ping me if you get a reply. By the way, your current signature is pointing to the wrong username (his, ironically enough). giggy (:O) 01:13, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Gah, thanks for that - serves me right for stright-copying my signature from en-wp to here ;P. You appear to have noticed his reply, and his somewhat interesting addition to his user page. I can't say I ever expected him to just give me the user name, but nor did I really expect the response I got. Hmm. I've responded - will just have to wait and see what happens with SUL in the grand scheme of things, I suppose. TheIslander 12:50, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Question...

Testing thumbnail. giggy (:O) 04:38, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Asking you as one of the few people I know here who might know these things - feel free to pass me on to someone else. Do you have any idea why Image:Hammerton's Ferry northbound from s bank.jpg has suddenly stopped displaying (at least on my browser)? The image is still there, as it displays just fine at full resolution, but it vanishes at thumbnail size both here and on en.wiki. A similar picture taken and uploaded at the same time works fine (as this used to) so it's not a fault in the image.iridescent 02:23, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Displaying fine for me here, both in full version (click the image link) and on thumbnail. --> giggy (:O) 04:38, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
I see it ok as well, to ask the obvious did you try refreshing your cache? Gnangarra 06:09, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Sometimes they just crash and burn for a bit when the upload server goes down... usually just temporary. giggy (:O) 08:33, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Yes, refreshed cache, logged off-and-on - all the obvious. Displaying fine now - mystery to me...iridescent 15:10, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Cool, thank you, I'll do that from now on. Would you mind zapping Image:The Greencards at the Mucky Duck.jpg? Announced blocking has not worked

Hallo

You announced a block of 1 semana on Citadme (talk · contribs) [1] and I can see the account has not been unblocked at the register [2], but the account is active and spreading falsehoods again [3]. I don't knwow whether the block doesn't work when the expiry time is written in Spanish or it doesn't prevent the user to write on his talk page. Might you check if anything is wrong? Thanks --Javier ME 19:20, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

It's because users can still edit their talk page while blocked. It's best to just ignore it, and block again when he's allowed back outside that page if he continues. giggy (:O) 08:58, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey

Hi DHM,

Im from the En-wikipedia chapter and i'm interested in diversifying to other projects, Im just wondering if uod like to give me a run down on wiki commons and what you do. Cheers   «l| Ψrom3th3ăn ™|l»  (talk) 12:05, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi! Commons is basically a repository of images and media that are free for everyone (much like WP is the free encyclopedia). Commons:Welcome gives a pretty good welcome and opening, or feel free to ask here with specific questions. Cheers, giggy (:O) 07:54, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Image file rename process

Hello. As a recently trusted user, is this all I have to do to approve a change of name so that the bot will move the file? Just save a the file with a rename or rename media tag? Image:595490626 1ff34990dd b.jpg and Image:Avondale spider.jpg?. Cheers Kahuroa 23:04, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

I think so. Make sure you've used the correct templates etc. at Commons:MediaMoveBot. If it hasn't done anything in a few days ping me again and I'll give it a go (though it should work the same for admins as for trusted dudes). giggy (:O) 08:51, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
I think the problem is that the bot has been having a wee wikibreak. Kahuroa 10:17, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
:( Well, I can't help much with that then... give it a few days and see. giggy (:O) 10:21, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

don't forget to use the div and gray tagging, etc... see one in the archive for an example. Best. ++Lar: t/c 17:30, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry - saw it & meant to say to you that the "grumpy old" ... prefers the nice grey background :) --Herby talk thyme 17:44, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Hiya... I looked through some more recent unsuccessful ones and couldn't find anything... do we have a template for it, or do we just copy paste from a previous RfA (slightly tedious)? giggy (:O) 02:10, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Me - no idea - I just copy other folk :) (agree it is tedious). I've probably done a fair few "withdrawn" ones myself & to me it didn't need to be "formally" closed (my excuse & I ain't budging :)). --Herby talk thyme 11:05, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
I get the feeling I accidentally copied a withdrawn one in my incompetence. Wouldn't be a first! giggy (:O) 11:25, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Nod. I'd myself tag even the withdrawn ones with the grey div, although probably omit the vote totals part. You can cheat and look at the promotion page special:userrights for a sample of the markup too. That's of course for a successful one, but improvise. Some enterprising person could document all this and give better samples, I suppose. ++Lar: t/c 01:54, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Enterprising I am not, but yeah, that's a good idea. giggy (:O) 02:40, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi... I beg to differ on that one, (mainly) per Arria's argument (though I see where you (and Rocket) are coming from). If you disagree with the close you're welcome to start a new deletion request (give me a yell if you need help working out all the code and stuff for that; it's a bit icky at times). giggy (:O) 00:54, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Usurping accounts with useful contributions

I saw you took the step to usurp accounts with useful contributions. Although I personally don't agree with this, I understand your rationale behind it, and won't bug you with that. I'd like to simply ask you to correct the attribution on images after the rename (such as this), so there are no confusions remaining. Cheers, Patrícia msg 18:48, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for that... I intended to bet the new Bstone to do it, then somehow forgot about it... thanks! giggy (:O) 05:31, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Sauber images by Xenophon

Hey Giggy, I have a question about images, and thought it would be fun to ask here, where I am but a noob, and you are an illustrious crat :-)

...for a change! ;-) giggy (:O) 00:54, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

It concerns the many images of postcards (apparently) by Wolfgang Sauber uploaded by Xenophon and one or two others. It would be really helpful to know when Sauber died, and whether these images are here on grounds of anonymity or date of death. See e.g. Image:Nürnberg_-_Plärrer.jpg and Image:Erlangen_1916.jpg.

You can reply on en if you prefer. I will certainly credit you for any help! Geometry guy (talk) 20:23, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... I did some searching and could find nothing for Sauber's date of death. I've contacted Xenophon in the hope that he can help with this, and I'll keep an eye on things. giggy (:O) 00:54, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
I did a web search myself. It is surprising that there is nothing. Anyway, thanks. Geometry guy (talk) 09:48, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey Giggy and other participants in this talk. Just some information about the postcards I uploaded in various postcards categories: These postcards are part of a rather large collection of postcards my grandmother collected in the time between 1910 - 1920. She got them from my grandfather, her ( then ) future husband, relatives and girl friends. I found them quite interesting, therefore I decided to upload them on wikimedia. Because there is no author to be found on these postcards and all of them are more than 90-100 years old, I uploaded them under my real name as "Author". Xenophon, 12:06, 16 June 2008

Hey, thanks for replying (I've pinged G-guy too.) Strange you say you aren't aware of an author when Image:Nürnberg - Plärrer.jpg (for instance) has one noted there... do you have any idea what's up with that, or when he died, or any other details that would help in asserting if it's free? giggy (:O) 09:23, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey, Giggy. Concerning the author, I already told you that the author of these postcards is anonymous; therefore - when uploading - I put my own real name in the "Author" - bracket. If that is wrong, please tell me what to do ( I am still a relative newcomer in wikimedia ). As far as the publishing rights are concerned, we had already a deletion - debate about Image:Nürnberg - Plärrer.jpg, which got - as far as I could see - by yourself resolved by connecting certain publishing standards for anonymous publications in the EU and the United States. I am quite ready to do what I can to resolve these problems, but right now I am at a loss what to do. Xenophon, 11:46, 17 June 2008

Hey... sorry if you're confused. Yeah, I did close the deletion request on that one. The confusion is that the author is listed as Wolfgang Sauber - I assume that's not you? If this image is in the same state as the other ones you've uploaded, you could just replace that with your name (and make a note on ALL of them that they're anonymous, explain circumstances, etc.) and that should be OK... giggy (:O) 11:09, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey Giggy! Somehow I think my English is not as good as it should be ( sigh! ) - but, yes, Wolfgang Sauber, that´s me!!! If I got you right, so I am going to set in the "Author"-bracket: "anonymous author, uploaded by Xenophon" ( i.e. Wolfgang Sauber ). The source is already given as "my own private collection". Does that sound right for you? Waiting for yor answer - and thank you anyway for the trouble - yours sincerly Xenophon - alias Wolfgang Sauber, 16:40, 17 June 2008.

Thanks both, I've updated a few of these. Geometry guy (talk) 15:53, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks everybody. I am going to update the postcards uploaded by me in the way Geometry guy has proposed it including the licenses attached to Image:Nürnberg - Plärrer.jpg. I truly hope that all the problems with these postcards concerning sources and licenses will finally be resolved this way. Xenophon 12:05. 24 June 2008

Awesome, thanks for your help throughout this. giggy (:O) 10:22, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Why didn't you try to discuss that with me first? I explained what I was doing in the talk page.

Is there any way we can come to a compromise on this? This is good and valuable content that took me easily ten hours to research but a a grumpy Wikipedia user deleted this chart when I put it inline in the page because he didn't like how it looked. I worked out the compromise of making a separate page and had finally figured out how to get the link on thumbnail for it working when I tested the link and found you had deleted it.

If it wasn't for the fact it contains all the references in it I would make it an image, but it'll be considerably more clumsy to edit and maintain it if I do that, plus I'll have to figure out how to make the reference links work.

It seems ridiculous to me that I have to fight so hard to get some thorough, quality research into Wikipedia. --❨Ṩtruthious ℬandersnatch❩ (talk) 02:28, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

First of all, I'm happy to email you the content if you wish (or restore it to your userspace) - it's not gone forever.
I honestly have no idea why it was deleted on Wikipedia, I figure it would be useful, and tables/timelines like this one are regularly used on articles - I've used them myself. If you give some links/diffs, I'll happily look into that for you.
However, the content is not appropriate for Commons, which is an image repository, and where the mainspace is used for image galleries. This was neither, so my deletion was justified, if unfortunate (and I apologise for any stress caused).
Again, I'm happy to restore a copy to your userspace, and to look into the matter for you on Wikipedia. Cheers, giggy (:O) 02:49, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you, I understand the principle upon which you deleted it and I certainly see that you did so in good faith. It's just been frustrating to pour so much work in and have things be deleted so offhandedly, but that's the Wikipedia editing experience I guess.
I have some suspicion that the user who deleted the chart on Wikipedia simply did so because he was being sloppy, then sent me off on a wild goose chase to save face. So he might have cooled off enough now to be reasonable. I didn't revert him originally, I'll try re-adding the chart and see how he reacts. If he still gives me trouble I may ask for your help. Cheers, ❨Ṩtruthious ℬandersnatch❩ (talk) 02:59, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
No worries, good luck. Again, tell me if you need it restored anywhere. giggy (:O) 03:27, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Well I haven't been reverted yet so hopefully it will stick. Thanks for a calming word. --❨Ṩtruthious ℬandersnatch❩ (talk) 05:46, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Your deletion of 4 Antony images

Why didn't you try to discuss that with me first? These images are my own work, a long and difficult work! This work was done from a satellite view from Antony, given to us 20 years ago by our Major. This view is now obsolete but used in these images for a global view. I don't understand your deletion as you have given no explanation. Sorry for my English as I'm French. Thanks in advance for your answer. AntonyB (talk) 08:30, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Ok. Nevertheless, I confirm you that this image in not got from NASA or from Google, but given as a map (in a paper booklet) to all habitants of Antony by our Major many many years ago. Anyway I'm not able to discuss with you. My English is too poor. So, I'm going to draw myself a map of the area near Antony. Thanks. AntonyB (talk) 15:27, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Question

Hey Gig,

I noticed you deleted File:Sparkling Downtown Phoenix.jpg due to copyright violation. I can't find any discussions about the page and, not being a sysop here on Commons I can't go back and look at the page, but just out of curiosity (I'm not questioning the decision) I'd like to know if it was just due to a lack of proper licensing info, or if there were other issues (like a blatant copyvio). Hey Shereth. The image was tagged (admin diff) for deletion by Raime (talk · contribs), as a copyvio of http://www.wildnatureimages.com/Phoenix_Skyline_Photos.htm On checking that URL I agreed it was a copyvio, so deleted. Hope this helps. giggy (:O) 23:32, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Strange deletion request

An IP has nominated Image:Weinmannia racemosa flowers.jpg for deletion, citing poor image quality. As the nominator was not logged in, I was tempted to treat it as a hoax and remove the deletion request, but I thought I should ask you to have a look at it instead. The quality seems fine and in my book it's a valuable image of a New Zealand native tree in flower. Thank you Kahuroa (talk) 04:59, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Part of the "deal" of working on OTRS is that the information contained therein is private, both the details of the email and our responses to them. If someone has a beef against an OTRS volunteer, the way to deal with it is to contact one of the OTRS admins and inform them of your apprehension concerning the handling of that ticket, not ... give ... the ... name ... on ... wikipedia ... review. Holy Harrison Ford playing a Banjo, Giggy! o.O;;
I ... really don't know what to say when someone points the attention of the people there on someone who was (seriously) just trying to bloody well help out what could've been a bad situation. I've seen what happens to the people they focus on, and frankly I prefer to have a nice, quiet wiki-existance whenever possible, leaving others to play the wiki-drama game. The last time they mentioned me at all was my badly failed arbcom nomination, and I was perfectly happy to appease irate readers and explain that just because someone types "John is a fag!" into an article on lettuce, that no, Wikipedia has not been hacked. I do this in multiple languages, in fact.
As the information is already "out", fine, yes, I did the ticket lookup. Zscout mentioned that there were invalid uses of the permission, as there were pictures uploaded from the site that: 1) the permission didn't apply to, and 2) weren't owned by the site-owner anyway, so either the owner was mistaken (which I currently doubt) or the uploader was mistaken regarding the remit of the permission (my current belief). Given that my original understanding was that there were a large number of these, I requested the halting of the permission and a deletion discussion (which does not imply, at all, massive speedy deletion of over a thousand images) that way the community can sort out the details. There was a concern of mine that the original email could've been forged by someone wanting the images here, but that turns out to not have been the case.
The entire thing's a cock-up, sure, and I admit that I was partially to blame for my failure to explain what I saw more carefully, but ... discretion, y'know? ~Kylu (u|t) 05:31, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Actually, don't worry about any of it. There's information in the struck section if you want to read it, but it just really doesn't matter, I guess. ~Kylu (u|t) 05:57, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
(ec) Kylu, I hope you believe me when I say the last thing I had on my mind in making that post was to screw you over. All I did there was correct some misinformation based on something that had already been made public at the VP. I didn't suggest any skullduggery on your part - as I've said prior, this incident was a cock up in many ways, but everyone acted in good faith, etc. etc. It's difficult to actually discuss what happened, though, when the wrong people are being named/discussed as being "at fault". In correcting that I shifted no blame on you. I also think you did the right thing in not suggesting a stack of speedies. Anyway... I'm sorry to have caused you stress, and I hope you understand where I'm coming/where I came from. —Giggy 06:03, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Grrr

Update/pointers on Brynn? Can't loose two in 24 hours :( Cheers --Herby talk thyme 06:55, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Strike that - seen it, reading, cheers --Herby talk thyme 06:57, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Commented at VP. —giggy 07:03, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah - want to read it properly before opening my mouth :) Looks like something rather sad &, at a quick glance, don't see why Brynn is taking the flak. --Herby talk thyme 07:13, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
She shouldn't be and it's a shame she is. The people who should be taking the flack are surely aware of their actions and why they were totally the wrong way to go. —giggy 07:20, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Why does ANYONE have to take any flack? Stuff happens. We learn. We move on. ++Lar: t/c 01:35, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

RE: Your message to KanonBots

Never been approved, the bot is currently beeing tested. Well KanonBots had some issues and therefore I've blocked it. The new bot can be found under the username KanonBot. --Kanonkas(talk) 18:31, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

OK. Just ensure you're able and willing to revert any mistakes made during testing (and after that, I guess). —Giggy 06:22, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Unified login issues

Hi! I have a slightly strange problem with unifying my accounts. I created an account here a while ago, and it seems I gave it a different password (and even more stupidly didn't give it an e-mail address). Unfortunately, I cannot seem to figure out what that password is anymore, and as such, am not allowed to connect my own account to my global account. Is there any way the password could be reset, or the password simply be bypassed and the account be merged anyhow, so the global password can take over? I don't have any easy, obvious proof such as user page cross-linking to show that it is in fact me, since I never spent enough time over here to even create a user page, but the edits I did make here pretty clearly follow with the articles I editted over on the English wikipedia. I'm really hoping that is proof enough, since I'm not sure what else I could offer. Regardless, thanks for your time and help! -Bbik 00:31, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Without a password/email, it is pretty difficult to 100% prove that it's you. That said, I agree with your assertion that the account's edits here match up to your EnWP edits. As there seems to be about a 99% chance that it is you, we could probably usurp that name out of the way (rename it to "Bbik2" or whatever you choose), and then you could activate SUL so as to claim the new Bbik account here. I'll ask a few other 'crats for a second opinion, first. —Giggy 06:22, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
OK - to get in to the old account I would imagine is a "devs" only one & I doubt that is worthwhile.
You can't prove the Commons you is "you" but you can prove the en wp one is you.
I with giggy here. I have no issues with usurping the current "Bbik" account. After you have grabbed the new "Bbik" account we link back the usurped one (& fully protect the redirects) to cover licensing etc etc.
If anyone comes along saying that they were "Bbik" is will be "interesting" but we can sort that then I'm sure (though I stress I see it as highly unlikely). --Herby talk thyme 07:07, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
With no uploads as (what we call) "useful contributions", and with good faith assumption that it is indeed you having both accounts, I personally have no problem usurping "Bbik" to another name, and then you can get your automatic account with the global login. It won't be possible to merge contributions, but the Commons account has too few of them for this to be a big problem for you, I imagine :). Patrícia msg 09:16, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, I guess that's what we'll do, then. (Just on the verrrrry off chance that I actually do remember the password someday, is it possible to merge contribution histories at that point, minor change though it'd be? I like having things all in one place! :-p) Also, how does this whole usurping/name-changing thing work with the global account active? As far as I've understood, changes couldn't be made without first requesting the global one be deleted again, but from Patricia's comment, it sounds like changes away from the global name are fine, and only ones to it require the deletion. Is that the case? Or should I go requesting it be deleted before all this moving gets put into action? -Bbik 10:28, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

(<--) OK, first of all, the usurp is ✓ Done and the account can now be found at "Bbik". Now, go to Special:Preferences at EnWP and run the account merging process and everything should fix itself up automatically. Sorry, but accounts can't (at this stage) be merged... that might come in at some stage in the future if you're really nice to the devs... Anyway, let me know here if you have any more troubles, but fingers crossed you should be able to (once you've done the account merge on EnWP) log in here as Bbik. —Giggy 10:52, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Looks good, thanks again! Should I go make the redirect at User:Bbik (usurped) now so it can be protected, or did I misunderstand what Herbythyme was saying? And I just noticed that my extra question last time was already answered, too, sorry about that. Best I can guess is I thought Patricia had meant merging the (usurped) one with this one without any more definitive proof that they're both me, though that'd kind of defeat the purpose of them staying separate. I think I'll blame it on being tired. -Bbik 11:15, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Please go record the usurp request at COM:CHU, even if it's already done, so it gets archived, unless you already did. Herby should know not to do renames without them being tracked there. :) You should be all set SUL wise. If not, advise at meta. Yes you should create and protect the redirects, or we can... since you don't have control of that account perhaps one of us should. There is no way to "merge" accounts, as a note. ++Lar: t/c 11:33, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Err - 'scuse me - this is giggy's page we are on not mine. Not me that did the rename "boss":) --Herby talk thyme 11:45, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
O HAI! Sorry about that. Silly me for thinking you were doing any actual work!, but I ain't your boss.. :) Yes I see now. My mistake. ++Lar: t/c 20:50, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Lar: I posted a diff of Bbik's request on this page (and the subsequent discussion) as my reason for renaming; see here. If you'd like it archived then I'm happy to make a note at COM:CHU for formality.
Ya, if you don't mind... I think it's good practice to put all of them there except the secret ones, which this ain't. ++Lar: t/c 20:50, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Bbik: You can make a redirect at the usurped userpage but you currently have a redlink userpage, so you may wish to create that first! —Giggy 12:12, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Page created, redirects created, I'll leave one of you to figure out whether they get protected or not. What should I do with the "official" usurpation request? Put it as its own little subheader like normal, just with a note that it's not actually a request, just meant for archiving? Or are you already taking care of that, Giggy (no point in both of us accidentally doing the same thing!)? -Bbik 21:31, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
I'll take care of it. —Giggy 08:13, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

✓ Done at Commons:Changing username/Archive5#Bbik --> Bbik (usurped). —Giggy 08:15, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Bug?

Do you know what happened here? [4] This didn't show up as closed. Some bug? Patrícia msg 13:28, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... chances are I missed a click, but I'll say bug. ;-) Should be fixed now. —Giggy 13:37, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Blame the software as much as possible, that's my motto, LOL. Cheers, Patrícia msg 14:10, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry

Anyone who throws around "nigger" and the like just gets to me. I do make it clear on my user page everywhere.....:) If it bugs you I am genuinely sorry but I reckon folk like that know what it is they are doing. Cheers --Herby talk thyme 14:18, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Nah, not a problem. I imagine my letting them off the hook would only result in them digging their own hole deeper soon enough. —Giggy 08:13, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Rename

Hello! Can you rename me from Mariánko to Marián_2? Thanks. --Mariánko (talk) 22:16, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi Mariánko. To ensure everything is archived properly, etc., could you please make a request at Commons:Changing username. Thanks. —Giggy 06:06, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Lots of thanks

Dear Giggy,
Lots of thanks.--Producer (talk) 22:21, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Flickr explanation

Often people upload files they saved from flickr, but don't bother to rename them, so they come out as they were named on flickr. The names of all flickr images include their ID number as the first part (no clue about the 2nd, except that the last letter (not number) signifies which size version it is). Thus, if one appears as lacking a source, you just shove the ID into flinfo and it gives you all the required info. -mattbuck (Talk) 09:24, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Hot damn. That is seriously cool. You've got to write that somewhere prominent (if it isn't already), I figure there are plenty of files we could save (well, at least a few). —Giggy 09:41, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi Giggy!!!!

Hi Giggy, I left a talk page message for someone on commons and then found out it was a bot, lol. I really need some help with something. I will link you to the message I left on the bots talk page here. Could you please help me with this issue. Thankyou very much. You an admin on commons right? Feel free to contact me here or at wikipedia, I don't mind. Thank you. Realist2 (talk) 17:03, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey Realist. Basically all the info you need for flickr images can be found at Commons:Flickr images, and the upload interface you want to use is this one (note the upload bots available if you prefer). Give me a yell if you need help with any of these. —Giggy 07:57, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

My user page

Gosh, I don't know why he doesn't like me! But thanks for protecting the page, even if the occasional vandalism keeps things interesting. --Ytoyoda (talk) 21:59, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I totally can't work out why... ;-) —Giggy 00:00, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

BTW

Want to sign up here in view of your comments. And are you "doing" Waldir? Cheers --Herby talk thyme 13:12, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

I think I commented at AN stating I fully concur with Gmaxwell, Hesperian, Mike, etc. And I'll do Waldir if you like. —Giggy 13:28, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, seems you got Waldir an hour or so early. :-) I was planning a long night! —Giggy 13:29, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
Sod it - I thought I'd got that one right - I'm an hour out! Apologies --Herby talk thyme 13:48, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
I was working on my local time sadly & also got distracted by an en wp issue as well. Think I'll avoid closing them for a while :) --Herby talk thyme 13:55, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
I do feel like closing one for a change! ;-) —Giggy 14:03, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
All yours for a bit :) --Herby talk thyme 14:06, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
